I personally think it's great to call Kamahl out on his errors. But doing it in a way that is lynching and name-calling brings a pretty bad name to our clan. It's difficult to have a self-policing policy when part of that self-policing is reliant upon telling people off in a level-headed way. It's easier to bring someone down with "Your claims for purge the profane are ridiculous, as everyone has already pointed out" as opposed to "Haha what a moron". Most of the FoS posts in the Dega midrange thread fall in the former category, but quite a few posts also fall in the latter category.
I think we can portray a better image of ourselves as people with a solid grasp of the game and not being afraid to stand up against people because we occupy the moral
high ground, rather than as a group who lynches people. It helps both sites immensely.
The fire rises.

Sigh.
Or does it even matter anymore? The whole thing seems so pointless, so incontrovertible. Information that should have come, that used to come, as a shining light at the end of the tunnel now just comes as the klaxon blair of an oncoming train. Even when there is a spark, the winds blow it away so fast you hardly have a chance to watch it touch the tinder before it has simply burned itself out. That is the brightness of this brave new world, you know... a thousand blinking spirits all firefly witchgreen followed by the incessant celebration when one of us finally winks out; instead of standing testaments to the will of man and woman tall enough and bright enough to light and fight the encroaching, untouchable dark. Is that the win you wanted? That seems.... questionable. Or is all of this just a proof of the fortitude we both know you have problems with, the humanistic equivalent of withstanding the rapids and the
force of the oncoming current to do nothing more than spawn, and then swim back to mother ocean?
Ah well. I had my hand in building the levy, and so I know that our use of the cheapest options and shittiest materials means that one day that levy gonna break, and the flood come.
And boy, do I know floods.

For those guests checking in for the first time any time I say "to be fair" I actually mean "drenched in so much sarcasm it's pouring out of my eyeballs, down my arms, through my fingers and into my keyboard to spread like a viscous malady through the whole of the internet" but it's hard to type all of that with fingers slippery with sarcasm juice.

We've revised our community moderation guidelines and brought on several new moderators. As Editor-in-Chief, I've also made it clear to the entire content team that moderating comments and positively confronting abuse is a critical part of our jobs. All of us -- staff, moderators, and community included -- have to lead by example. No longer can we simply throw our hands up and suggest that cleaning up IGN comments is someone else's responsibility, or worse, pointless to even try.
We've written new guidelines for the IGN comment culture and moderation, which are going into effect immediately. They outline what we don't allow. Take them seriously and hold us all, readers and staff alike, accountable for their enforcement. Positively confront and report abuse where you see it. I promise I'll be doing the same.
Will that mean we won't tolerate disagreement or fiery debates? Not at all.
nThey still tolerate disagreements? But calling someone a liar is trolling!

Well I mean at least he has told the members of the site about the new rules.
Could have been worse he could have just infracted everyone for rules that have yet to be written and then wonder as to why many people are confused/mad.
reminds of somthing that happend on another site.
