Is anyone going to SCG Richmond? I need a deck to play. For various reasons the trip is free for me, but I don't have a Modern deck or the money to buy a good one.
If you're a chef you should probably just admit you're gay and move in with Alex.

I'd just like to say that I do appreciate you bringing your gayness up to a more acceptable level.

Hi guys. I'm back. Anything earth-shattering happen in the past two weeks?
My basement flooded while I was gone. Not enough to destroy anything down there but enough that I had to pull everything upstairs. Did I mention I have a gaming room in the basement? Thankfully I hadn't left any books on the floor. My mother-in-law got me an M14 fat pack for Christmas, which was cool, but then I had to explain what Magic was to her and that was interesting because she kept trying to understand it by relating it to poker. Then I spent my Christmas money on replacing the copy of HeroQuest I had when I was a kid.
That about sums it up.
My father is exactly the same.

Being a chef is perfectly heterosexual when done properly.

Tube - Keyword: Budget. Unless someone could let me borrow a deck for Richmond. If the deck is more expensive than Affinity it's not an option, because at that point I'll just play Affinity and have a good time shitting robots on the table.
Is forest belcher seriously a deck? It looks terrible.
You're welcome Alex

im just copy pasting thread names from MTGS's modern deck creation forum, i don't actually know what any of these decks do. (except delver, but fuck twoo)
Just play affinity, its probably better then whatever other "budget decks you can make. but i digress, modern is aweful, and i haven't actually played a game in a while.

You troll you

I mean I have the opportunity to go to a big GP so I feel like I should take it, but if I go I want to have a fighting chance. My other option is a Koth-based red deck since I have most of that stuff already. Just have to make sure it is good without the fetches.

Had some downtime at the office today, made my own lifepad book.
Planning on printing of deck lists of top deckss on the last few pages to look at during ptq.

Have I got a deck for you! It's mono-white and starts with an "S".

Better to play Soul Sisters than Burn TBH.
What's your budget? What can you borrow?
Posted: Fri Jan 03, 2014 6:08 am
by zemanjaski
Mono Green Tron or Storm at least can do unfair things. Playing Soul Sisters is just a second rate fair deck and I don't think that's ever a good idea.

Budget is $50 or less, the cheaper the better. I already have all the red staples, hence that idea. I'm ok with spending more to make Affinity because a) I know it's good b) I fucking love that deck.
I do have two months to build the deck, but I have to book the flight by Jan. 14th or lose the miles. Hence the rush.

Try out the Esper list if you have the pieces for it. The deck is pretty good.
Affinity is nice for MODO, but you won't make day 2 playing it. The deck folds too hard to tier 1 decks.

Awesome, thanks Z.
Alex, your article is fantastic. Lot of good stuff. Esper is a little too pricey, and thanks for talking me out of Affinity; I assumed Mox Opals were the only expensive thing there but I forgot I'd have to get all the other little $1-$4 cards.

Playing a deck with Bloodghast would be so dope. Zendikar, how I miss you so.
Here's what I have, in case this helps:
-Legacy Death & Taxes (Thalia, Mindcensors, Flickerwisps, Batterskull, Jitte x2, Swords)
-Walter White
-EDH Affinity (so 1x of all the artifact staples)
-Legacy Burn (Goblin Guides, bolts, etc)

by DarthStabber
I would play burn, but that probably doesn't surprise anyone. I also don't care if it's good or not, I like the playstyle. Currently playing rdw because it's what I know the best, and lacking fetches and shaman I can't afford to switch to burn at the moment (but I do have a proxy version for casual games/testing). I should probably learn to play more controllish decks at a higher level, but I am fond of proactivity.

I think the issue isn't that a "controlish" deck would be better, it's just that burn isn't well positioned in Modern.
