It's a spicy meatball, but I would still rather have ornitharch. He works great in the BW grindy deck. You can return baleful and returned phalanx

@ham: which decks would you consider "fair"?

well it's not like the two cards are in the same set

Zoo, Merfolk, WW and other misc. aggro, Jund, Burn. Basically, any deck that doesn't have a turn 4 instant kill combo.

Yea, I just meant that it's not even better than the retardedly good white uncommon from the previous set. Good card tho

Ya I second what Ham said for what deck to play. I jumped into modern playing affinity, and it took me well over 100 games to get used to playing my own deck -- let alone how to play it vs the rest of the format. I have fallen in love with the format though, and I'm sure you will too =D.

Modern has ruined Standard for me :gonk:

Modern has helped me become a far better standard player. I was really surprised actually. I'm still by no means great, but the amount of I've learned about the game playing it has helped me so much in standard and even limited to an extent. I think that its due to a better understanding of the game in general more than anything, but still =D.

I'm worse when playing Standard because I don't pay enough attention to the meta and its shifts. It's easier for me to tweak and refine a deck when the tier 1 decks are known and predictable. Others are good at adapting quickly, but I don't get to grind enough and get caught with a suboptimal list that gets trounced. A format with less churn is better for me.

The format changes so much faster on mtgo than paper. Decks have a much longer lifespan in paper (except for high level REL)

Yup, but I can't play in my underwear at paper events :unibrow:

Yay... I broke into top30 on the Play of the Year Race, wow cweaver (pauper grinder) made top200 I never expected that.

MOCS are still down.... how on earth are they squeeze in all the events we missed this year??

How many events do you enter on average to put up those numbers?

I try and make 1 finish per day, If you've notice Z almost caught up with me under 1.5 months :p (he should be waaaaaay beyond me in soon) the only reason why I'm on up the ladder is because I started at the beginning off the series and kept going (if you look at my QP I almost never surpass 40 each month - then you compare it too our mutli-queuing masters who get 80+).

Well the nice thing about bogels is that I have it built on MODO, but when I was playing it a month ago I was getting stomped. Maybe I just sucked at it, or maybe it was a small sample size. The nice thing about that blue deck tho is that it would be super cheap to buy in paper and online...

If you want to jam some games, I'm available to help test. I have various brews built including Boros, Dega midrange, small Zoo and 2/3 color burn.

Did an 8-4 flashback draft cuz why not. Rocked a bant deck with stoic angel and a crapload of 2 drops and exalted. Lost in the finals to flooding out, but super fun. Bant sojourners put in work!

Can anyone do some metagame deck to prey on block metagame using cards from JtN? I loved playing/grinding block last season and got a lot o money / cards from it that way.

I got a decent pool. My blue was just short of being really good, so I opted to play the weaker color combination of RG because it actually gives me creatures, of which my blue pool has none.

Possible deck alterations are - Spark Jolt + Aspect of Hydra, or playing Snake over something

I am lacking in Heroic enablers but I can't really do much about it

Maybe take out Starbreaker or Fanatic for Aspect, but I really don't like Aspect

GR is probably the worst color combination for Sealed, so it makes sense that my deck is bad and I'm out. I still like it better than UR with my pool.

I like the snake over a lot of the cards in your deck. The star breaker, the jolt, the giant...

Ooo btw I finally got the custom mat working so all my videos after next week will have it XD, I just have one question - have you notice that some games your and the opp. mat randomly switches?

I also worked on the opening animation, its still trash but its much better then my attempt on Friday  so I'll upload that for the videos next week.

Hopefully we'll get more traffic

Yes to the random playmat switch thing :)

Can you have anything you like for your playmat? Does your opp see it to?

Posted: Sun Apr 20, 2014 11:23 am
by magicdownunder
You can have anything you like, but only you can see the play-mat (unless you stream, record or screen-shot it).
