Let us count the ways to love this card in Standard:

1) 1W is splashable.
2) Three-power two drop.
3) Hates on Revelation, Read the Bones, Pain Seer while Chandra's 0 ability remains immune.

I see this card making a big splash in the eternal formats. Death and Taxes just got a brand new hatebear. Brainstorm? LOLNO.

I mean, come up with an unexplored but obviously flawed deck idea every week, the post three matches in which you lose, while blaming the commenters for ruining magic for you.

Then claim to have broken Modern in the process?

I am waiting to call him out in an article, probably in my BNG review.

"Just like when I designed Sledgehammer Red in RTR standard, every spoiler season I blah blah blah"

Comment 1: TWoo designed Sledgehammer Red!
Reply: Au contraire!

Although I will give Woo credit for leading me on to mono red sligh, and from there, to you guys. His work with the decks in the MTGS mono red primer thread caused me to drop $20 on red cards, then stumble into Zem's primer when looking into how to play my new deck effectively.

Cut that last part on Pain Seer. Unaffected by new card (obviously).

Will be very interesting to see how this card shapes Modern and Legacy. The latter especially. Damn, the possibilities!

Another interesting card, though too expensive likely to be Standard fare. Not really relevant to our usual suspects, but fun all the same.

Jund could be a deck. Not *really* my sort of thing, but they have plenty of walkers, good creatures and removal, so maybe that can be a thing.

Oh, I heard about this one, isn't this the one that got errata'd at the last minute but too late to change the printing so that it read "EDH whoooo yeah maybe you should put me in an EDH deck wouldn't it be fun!?!?!?!?!!1questionmark! EDH motherfucker EDH EDH EDH!"

It's been a while so, played in an FNM again last Friday after about a 2 month break if I remember correctly. My teammates handed me the red devotion deck to play, and smashed face. Got 1st and my pre-release is going to be free.

Round 1 - White Weenie 2-1
One of the stronger decks I've played that night. The last round got extended because I misplayed by keeping a Mizzium Mortars and not killing a problematic Soldier of the Pantheon later in the round. I didn't get my 4th land until around turn 8, and my 4 drops got stuck in my hand. I was down to 1 holding creatures at bay with my own and managing to draw an answer before he can draw a winning Brave the Elements. To my luck, he drew land after land and I drew my winning Nykthos. I should have lost this match due to the misplay.

Round 2 - BR Aggro 2-0
That powerful black-based Rakdos aggro deck that was trending before I took a break. I was pretty sure I would have a
rough time but I got the nuts draw on both games.

Round 3 - Red Devotion - 2-1
Mirror match, which had our first 3-4 opening turns identical on all 3 games. The one who dropped Hammer on that round won.

Round 4 - Black Devotion 2-1
Got stomped on the first round. I stomped on the next two rounds exploding out of the gate. Third round was close to being unmanageable if my opponent didn't miss a land drop making his pat racks online.

When BotG goes out, I might be going Rakdos contrary to GR monsters. It looks so appealing. Maybe Rakdos Minotaurs if that's going to be a thing.

...one of the other 106 cards maybe? Let's at least see the whole set before we cry foul.

I'm with Helios...given the quality of the Uncommons we've seen thus far, I'm for once looking forward to seeing the common pool even.

I think it's hysterical that we have a 2-power, splashable 1-drop with a "drawback" at uncommon and a 2-power, monored one drop with a real drawback and a supposed second ability at rare.

We'll take what we can get.

I'm still having problems figuring out how I wanna play it come born. It's looking like the current style of aggro might not be enough, with black having that sweeper...

I'm liking the idea of a rakdos midrange, but everything I try seems to have one issue or another e.e

I'm just unexcited about the cards spoiled thusfar. I really want this to shake up standard because it's gotten boring. Nothing really interesting that I want to play so far.

I imagine Craig Wescoe has a hard on though.
