Wait wait wait. You mean he's going to fix the infraction to 'never expire' or nullify the suspension?

an infraction I got on 11-21-12 or whatever was set to "never expire", but that's not correct. Hence, I should only have 2 active infractions atm instead of 3, and hence my suspension should be reversed.

Oh, okay, so they've decided to go for the version of that Catch-22 that makes it look like they're nice but have their heads up their asses.

iridium helpdesk post:

Galspanic, I am here to appeal an infraction I received recently.

The post, for reference:

To start, it could easily be argued that, by including the defintion in the mod-text rather than simply saying "infraction for trolling issued", you yourself are trying to illicit a hostile reaction from me. Adding the definition of trolling to the mod-text does nothing to clarify the infraction itself more than simply "Trolling infraction issued" does, so I'd love to hear your justification for why that itself isn't trolling.

Secondly, I'd also love to hear your justification for why
you thought this post was trolling; who was I trying to illicit a reaction out of? I provided an explanation of the previous infraction in question. Is being accused of having super-powers supposed to illicit hostile reactions? Or maybe was I saying something a bit deeper with that statement, such as:

"The staff thinks they understand the intent behind all posts, but in reality they do not. Oftentimes this leads to misunderstandings between the staff and the recipients of false trolling infractions. Their overzealous tendencies are not the only cause of false trolling infractions however, because the staff as a collective do not quite understand what trolling actually is, and this can (and has) led to false cries of "wolf!" many times in the past. The infraction you are asking about, Highroller, is just another example of the above."

Although this version does also make it less likely you'll seek to overturn your most current infraction. Sneaky devils.

By the way, Boxxy, I think you should know that every time I read a post of yours like that my estimation of you goes up greatly. You have a way of mixing pure intent and equal parts derision into such posts that belies a very keen intellect. I salute you, sir.

I'm a little late to the party but I really love this idea. I also think a more general Geography sub-forum would be useful for people who love maps and countries and continents to talk about their hobby. I also liked the other recent idea about making a job postings section, that seems great.

i assume that's what most staff speak audibly to their computer screen every time someone from this site is caught making a snarky, tongue in cheek, or sarcastic remark.

"Your tongue-in-cheek comment will not be had here, villain." they say with a little spit somehow coming out of their mouth as they end villain.

imagining caricatured versions of both sites and the posters on them is really what keeps me going every time something inconsequential happens on either site. a lisping, "villain"-spitting xenphire hunched over his keyboard, rereading, triple checking, and proofing his posts for maximum snarkiness is like three cups of coffee in the morning to me.
