[QUOTE1=cryogen]redthirst,
There is occasionally some friendly jabs that are aimed at "casual" players, but there is a fine line between good-natured joking and flaming. Calling people "damn dirty casuals" is certainly borderline, so in the future I and the other mods would appreciate it if you moderate your language.
Thanks,

Dafuq?
Obviously has not seen the Charlton Heston classic and is missing the pop culture reference and thus the
humorous tenor that you intended. Damn dirty mods should keep their filthy hands off and let the natural order settle things out.
My response:
I might be getting banned.

In my defense, though, I did try to be as civil as possible.

Updated Mono U list after talking to Sam Pardee. Quote "Mono U Devotion is basically White Weenie with blue cards - so they're actually good".
I'm sold.
[deck]Mono U Devotion[/deck]
Creatures
4 Cloudfin Raptor
4 Frostburn Weird
4 Judge's Familiar
4 Master of Waves
4 Nightveil Spectre
4 Tidebinder Mage
4 Thassa, God of the Sea
Planeswalkers
1 Jace, Architect of Thought
Artifacts
2 Bident of Thassa
Other
1 Cyclonic Rift
1 Domestication
2 Rapid Hybridization
Lands
4 Mutavault
1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
20 Island
Sideboard
1 Bident of Thassa
1 Curse of Swine
1 Cyclonic Rift
1 Dissolve
1 Domestication
4 Gainsay
2 Negate
1 Jace, Architect of Thought
2 Jace, Memory Adept
1 Rapid Hybridization
[/deck]
Changes:
- Domestication back to the maindeck
- Slightly different counterspell package now
The new counterspell, Thassa's Rebuff, is interesting, but surely worse than actual hard counters. Fated Infatuation is interesting, but I don't think necessary.
Can provide a sideboard guide if anyone wants it.
*raises hand*
I'm the one stroking your ego!
Provide the guide altogether!
vs Mono U Mirror
-2 Bident of Thassa (only good if you're ahead on board, so it is ULTRA risky to keep it in)
-4 Judge's Familiar (is too small vs. any other flier and all the spells are cheap so the Force Spike is largely irrelevant)
-4 Frostburn Weird (get'
s shut down by their Tidebinder Mages and is just a bit too clunky given all the fliers or huge fleets or elemental tokens)
+1 Curse of the Swine (in some board states you can just make them have a bunch of 2/2s that are meaningless because you have 2/3s or a Master with tokens)
+1 Cyclonic Rift (overload rift is one of the easiest ways to win)
+1 Domestication (value card is value)
+1 Jace, Architect of Thought (you need some CA and Jace can dominate many board states)
+1 Dissolve (its no Gainsay, but some amount of counters are good in the machup. Key targets are: Spectre, Thassa and Master)
+4 Gainsay (no explanation needed)
+1 Rapid Hybridization (answers Master and Spectre)
vs Mono B Devotion
-1 Cyclonic Rift (they don't usually have substantial board states for this to be super relevant)
-1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (you're not trying to overload cyclonic rift)
+2 Negate (counters their removal)
*I have seen people prefer to bring in 1 Domestication and 1
Bident or 1 Rapid Hybridization; there seems to be some room for personal preference here.
vs RW Devotion
-2 Bident of Thassa (they're a creature deck)
+1 Domestication (best card versus their deck)
+1 Jace, Architect of Thought (one of the best cards versus their deck)
*I have seen -1 Nykthos, +1 Rapid as well.
vs UWx Control
-4 Cloudfin Raptor (requires you to extend to get much from it; super weak to Azorius Charm. Games go long because of your PW package, so its a bad topdeck and encourages unwise aggro lines)
-1 Domestication (no explanation needed)
-4 Master of Waves (its fine but not exciting; you need to make space for the PW package which is just much better)
-2 Rapid Hybridization (no explanation needed)
+1 Bident of Thassa (no explanation needed)
+1 Dissolve (no explanation needed)
+4 Gainsay (no explanation needed)
+2 Negate (no explanation needed)
+1 Jace, Architect of Thought (no explanation needed)
+2 Jace, Memory
Adept (no explanation needed)

Happy to hear feedback on the sideboarding; I have three major events and right now its the deck I'll probably play in all three (PTQ, GPT, GP).

Feedback: The sideboard is garbage, but that's more the fault of the deck.
Constructive Criticism: Do Mono B Devotion.
Keep in mind: I don't play Standard and I'm pretty terrible at Magic.

That mod's sarcasm and humor meters are obviously broken and beyond repair. I recommend an immediate sterilization of his internet access so that this person never interacts with others online ever again.
Your reply to this was more than gracious. I'm
feeling rather surly lately from stress and lack of sleep, so I would have gone with "Context, mutherfucker. Do you know it?" and left it at that.

No Zem, don't go to the darkside! But in all seriousness, if I had the cardpool I would of switched to mono blue a looooong time ago. There is just no reason to not play mono b or mono u at a PTQ.

How expensive is it to get into MTGO?
Posted: Wed Jan 22, 2014 4:25 pm

I think the initial fee is $10. Beyond that the upkeep is comparable to paper.

FWIW I've been infinite for a while, so I haven't actually had to hand over money for most of the cards I own.

I'd really only be interested for EDH. I guess I can try to look up how much it would cost to build Pristaxcontrombmodruu and see if I thought it was worth it.

Orcale of Bones look ok'sh for MonoRed iterations, but there´s something annoying with being forced to cast stuff. A Red Mages gut reaction towards orders I guess. Not to mention that it messes with combat tactics.
I don't think Orcale is strong in a traditional Rx list which mixes aggressive creatures with burn, its more for the Burn orientated list which want to point everything at dome anyways (like Boros Charm and Helix MD).
Good reasoning. Hasty 3/1 + Helix or Charm is nice value.

If the list in your primer thread is current, MTGGoldfish is saying its worth $338.89.
Here's the very unformatted, copy/pasta'd list of single prices.

Debating if I want to go to the SCG Open Nashville on BnG release weekend... Thoughts anyone? How worth it is it to attend an event when a new set comes out? I guess it will depend on the confidence of whatever I can brew up. Currently liking the look of a GR/BR list that can beat Bile Blight

Thanks Doc. That's definitely more than I want to spend. I could cut out a good few of the dual lands/fetches, but it still looks like too much of an investment for how much I'd play.

It could be okay in a Pyromancer build if those decks were looking for something at the 4-drop slot, but I think it's a little too iffy for traditional Red Aggro builds.

It's worth noting that actually getting the singles in bulk like that would also be a real pain in the ass.

Have lots of spells in your red deck? Then Minotaur is decent.
Not so many spells? Then the new Phoenix is better.
@Zem - I edited the article. I was fairly aggressive with some of the edits.
