I saw somebody die out upon the road today
I felt lives dissolve on sidestreets as that head hit the highway
I see first responders rush in as a white plume dissipates
Trying to pull their will to power from the flames

Now there's miles of angry motorists stretched as far as eyes can see
They are a billion breathing beings each with schedules to keep
They get a long look at the tow truck as they sit and grit their teeth
Hating that which comes between them and their coffee

I'm on that ribbon highway and I've seen some sickening things
One good kid smashed to splinters, another wicked one crowned king
And upon the pavement, for each and every particle of glass
There are a thousand dreams never to come to pass
Because dreams can't be, nor people, indeed, built to last

Behold my brother's beautiful babies! It's obvious to see
The world's been making plans to go on without me

Reminds me slightly of Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains

I bet every album sounds like a new band with the same singer.
Their sound is surprisingly consistent since it all hinges around the lead singer's lyrics and guitar playing and that guy's been in the band from the start.

you are basically describing The Dear Hunter

Like, if you are a college educated young man who's dissatisfied with life in general, Titus Andronicus is basically the best band for you since it captures the feeling entirely without being gay about it. And how many bands base songs off of Modernist poets and classic literature?

I'm sorry but there's no singing.
That's ok, my album of the day yesterday (Teeth of the Sea's Master) had like 10 lines of lyrics in the whole album. And one of my favorite bands (Battles) uses minimal lyrics.

I'd contribute something, but the closest thing I've got to this inanity would proly be the german accapella metal band... (Well, they have a drummer, but close enough)

Also, I wasnt on MTGS during the explosions that created this site, but I've been amusing myself by reading logs of the events on this site...
Am I a bad person for finding it really funny that the deal with CURSE has seemingly fell through? (Thats what it looks like to me since no more talk bout it since, feel free to correct me. I lie learning...)

I prefer Iron Maiden's rendition of Rime of The Ancient Mariner. Romantic poetry all day e'ry day

The tempo's a bit quicker but to me it sounds quite similar. It's the type of mellow stuff I can really relax to.

They do a lot of covers, but this is one of my favs of their original stuff.

They're called Van Canto, btw.

I want Apocalyptica and Van Canto to do a collab...

One band is all insanely talented cellists, and a great drummer. The other is all insanely talented vocalists and a great drummer...

This is actually very entertaining. It has a Nightwish vibe to it and Nightwish is pretty great when I'm in the right mood.

I really like talking about music with people as long as they can discuss it rationally so I'm willing to check out most recommendations on this site.

That video is pretty funny. The music isn't bad, but that dudes face... I lol'd.

Also I was expecting the singing to be in German.

They actually do a good few covers of Bling Guardian and Nightwish, and no I'm not changing that typo.

They've got a version of wishmaster I arguably prefer to the original...
