So I went to a second prerelease for $15 today. I split the winnings with my opponent two boosters each, and I won a sudden death match and got the 5th pack. I got jank, but my opponent got a foil Herald of Torment with a Xenagos in one pack, and Brimaz in the second. I wanted to stab a bitch.

I went to my second prerelease today. I did terrible this time, going 2-3. I opted for the white pack and barely got anything to work with. I ended up playing a really bad G/B deck with some ramp. I'm starting to think that G/B is the most playable looking pile of crap I've seen in Theros limited. I'm sure there's a deck in there, but it requires very specific cards low mana cards. It's hard to make work properly when decent removal and threats are both 5+. I'm probably just doing it wrong. Maybe I should focus on the graveyard instead? Well whatever it was, I did terribly.
I probably had the most fun match to play was my last round against the guy who was 1-3. We were both very tempted to mull to 1 and 0 for game 3, so we would have a true top deck war. This was coming off a game two where we both kept killing the others' big creature and only had dinky 1/2 or 2/1 satyrs on the field and then top deck 6 lands in a
row.

no, why?
Just wondering. I'm wondering if it's going to be hot tech for UW hate.
Nah. Too narrow -- what deck would side it? BW humans? It misses off Jace AoT.
It's a Legacy card, and a damned good one -- the Legacy players at my store are buying foil ones at $25-30 bucks.

I've had the most success in Theros limited with white, but it usually needs something else with it. Pack wise, that white promo card fucking sucks. Sometimes I think the designers at Wizards have contests to see who can make the worst intro pack rare. The winner gets a go with the Jace blow up doll.

If I can make it through all the ice on the road, I'll be headed to a release this morning. We had about 1/4" - 1/2" of freezing rain hit us yesterday. Most of the roads surrounding me are solid sheets of ice. The gravel roads are better than the paved roads at the moment. Snow is predicted tomorrow and Tuesday, and it's not even supposed to get above freezing until much later in the week.

Fall of the Hammer is ridic with Heroic cards, and both Xenagos win games.
There are my thoughts from the pre release.

Oh, and Polis Crusher - if you open Polis Crusher, you're going to want to play it.
In Soviet Theros, the Polis fucks you.

Phantom football Sealed is fun. One pack each of Future Sight, Odyssey, Onslaught, Time Spiral, Betrayers, Alara Reborn, Lorwyn, and Legions.
I made a pretty sick UB unblockable / Ninjitsu / faerie / mistform deck. Hoping to get 1-3 QP's.

I got 6th with a better r/w deck this time, losing to one of the better sealed decks I've ever seen in the top 8. ( a g/r deck with nylea, hunters prowess, and a ton of of good g/r shit.

I can definitely get behind this. It seems that most of the key cards you want for a W/x heroic deck are uncommon/rare. I think my perception of reality was distorted from my first prerelease when I pulled 5 relevant white rares + Phalanx Leader + 2 Heliod's Emissary.
@J_S, Good job on the win. That guy who didn't want to split made me laugh. I'm glad you pulled some good cards from your winnings. I think the best card out of mine was a
Herald of Torment.. I think a repulled 2 or 3 intro pack rares.

I went 3-1 at the prerelease today. I picked red and had a lot of decent red cards, but no red removal under 4 mana. I first went with red/green aggro with a white splash with a lot of combat tricks and heroic stuff, but I either kept drawing all tricks and no creatures or all creatures with no tricks. After losing horribly in the second round, I took out all the green and white and replaced it with black for two copies of
Asphyxiate, a
Returned Phalanx, and
Servant of Tymaret. I never did see my promo dragon, but a lot of people were impressed by it.
Notable cards:
Akroan Crusader to spam 1/1 tokens with
Rise to the Challenge.
Kragma Butcher is a surprisingly good beater, especially with
Minotaur Skullcleaver.
Both
Felhide Spiritbinder and
Akroan Conscriptor worried people even though I never got to make a token or steal anything.
I opened up a
Pain Seer and
Spirit of the Labyrinth in my prize packs. And I traded for another
Stormbreath Dragon.
All in all, it was a good day of gaming.

I missed prerelease due to snowmobile related activities. It was well worth it. I'll probably hit up Gameday because it does seem like a decent set for Limited.

I really can't get a hang of 2HG.
I played 4 prereleases in the last 2 days, losing a single match in the 2 1v1 tournaments while being raped in pretty much every single game in the 2HG events.

My favorite way to play 2HG is to have one control-ish player and one aggro player. That strategy has always done well. Of course, in limited that's not always easy.

i've only done 2HG once but that's what we did and it worked wonders. Was RTR set limited, so some decent UW/r magic available. Teammate went Selesnya stompy.

Unfortunately for me i did a 2hg prerelease. Both me and my teammate had quite good decks ( i played U/B control with herald of torment, black promo, tromokratis, fated return and he played G/R aggro with double green promo and the god xenagos).
Main problem of the day was that we somewhat opened 6 copies of
Fall of the Hammer. It's a good card, but i failed to convince my friend that 6 were too much , and he found himself several times with 2-3 copies of it without any big creatures in play.
Overall we had quite bad luck (mulliganed often, drew only lands) And we finished 2-2. A card that underperformed for me was
Asphyxiate . I had 2 copies of it and if you topdeck them later in the game they are useless because the biggest threats will always be tapped.
