For anyone ruined by George Lucas's HD additions, you can find three fan edits called the "Despecialized Edition" online. I recommend them especially if you have a blu-ray burner.

I have a question about Firedancer Satyrs' triggers. Do I HAVE to have it deal damage to a creature an opponent controls? ie: What if the opponent has a reckoner out? Do I have to have my Firedancer trigger deal 3 dmg to him (assuming I casted LS)?

What if there is a Caratid out? Since it has hexproof, would that just mean there is no valid targets to deal dmg to?

Also, if I cast Lighting Strike on a Planeswalker, with Firedancer be able to trigger?
Satyr's ability will trigger after a spell deals damage to a player if there is a valid target in play. If there's only a Boros Reckoner out, you have to target it.

You can't Lightning Strike a planeswalker, but you can redirect damage from a player to a PW they control. If you choose to, Satyr
Firedancer won't trigger since you didn't damage the player.

Fated Conflagration also won't trigger it, since it targets the PW itself.

Firedancer says opponent. So I am wondering if a PW is considered an opponent, because it IS considered a player.

A PW is considered a player?

Wait. So SoFI triggers when you hit a planeswalker?

No, a Planeswalker isn't considered a player or an opponent.

Since we're on rules questions, how would bestow creatures work with Legion's Initiative?

Is it correct that since the creature itself is exiled, then the bestowed aura falls off to become a creature?

Posted: Fri Feb 14, 2014 5:08 pm
by Elricity
Yes, and the bestow card could attack as long as it doesn't have summoning sickness.

No, a Planeswalker isn't considered a player or an opponent.
Thank you. That's what I thought.

That's correct WS.

When Legion's Initiative is activated, the creature that the Bestowed creature enchants leaves the battlefield, so the Bestowed creature changes from an aura to a creature and remains on the battlefield.

EDIT: added clarification of what happens after a LI activation

When I was a wee young player, I got told by a judge that my opponent's Witchbane Orb gave his Planeswalkers hexproof too.

But it does....? Sort of at least.

Because you cannot target a planeswalker with a burn spell, you have to target the player and redirect the damage.

Hero's downfall would work though.

What I should have said was "show me the rule." What I actually said was "you're a stupid fuckstick."

Didn't even get an infraction for that, because the judge is a stupid fuckstick.

My 20-month-old nephew fell down the stairs today. Apparently someone forgot to put the gate up and he climbed almost all the way up the stairs and proceeded to do the opposite of climbing at the apex.

This was at about 7:30 and it woke me. I bursted up and almost had a heartattack as I knew without a doubt what the sound was. And it was loud.

He didn't even get a bruise.

I think he's superhuman.

But seriously, I'm thanking every deity I can think of that he's not dead. I thought broken neck for sure. It was about 15 wooden stairs.

Kaze, now make an offering to Purphoros. It's only fair. He saved your nephew, so the least you can do it set something meaningful on fire.

Happy to hear of the outcome, Kaze. Toddlers are incredibly resilient, sometimes to the point where if they don't "know" they should be in pain, they won't be. But that doesn't mean it's not scary!
