Darthsaber: I don't think that's illegal because it's intrinsically unmarked. I have opponents shuffle my deck like that all the time, and the worst it is is annoying. I'm pretty sure a judge would stop the game, fix the cards and continue.
Well then I have my strategy to ensure that this is never a problem for me.
On a different not: Is it bad if I opened a commander box just to take out [card]Nevinyrral's disk[/card] and
toxic deluge?
I really don't give a shit about most of the deck, I just wanted the aforementioned mass removal and [card]kongming, "sleeping dragon".[/card].

Issue was that only SB cards were upside-down and then after putting deck under a microscope they said sleeves were less that fully opaque. Head judge said he believed all accidental but still giving potential for competitive advantage. Draconian rule is draconian.

That was such an awesome game too. I really want to know how it would shake out. His opponent on 7, with a 7 counter jace and an azorius charm in hand along with other unknown cards. James taps 3 for viashino with phoenix on board, leaving up mountain and vault. Not sure of james whole hand, but he had boros charm in hand and i think he left 1 on top with scry. he had 1-3 other cards I think.
We chatted about it after; I was killing him that turn. Meh.

Apparently he just went 0-2 in round 11 too... I have a feeling he might be tilting a bit...
That game loss was absolute bull. This is why they need to revise the rules, cause they are seriously draconian.

Some fucking pricks on Twitter are saying Z cheated by using marked cards. It's always the people with the least information that make false statements with absolute conviction.
There is a rumor it might get upgraded to a DQ if he makes top 8.

The statements about it getting upgraded if he makes top 8 are in reference to what happened at a different GP. At that GP they caught someone cheating, but weren't sure he was cheating at first. They DQ'd him 2 rounds later once they confirmed that he was cheating. That's completely different than what happened to Z. Z barely got a game loss. People on twitter are idiots.
By my math, there's a theoretical chance that Z makes top 8 if he wins the last 3 rounds. It's not a good chance, as draws and breakers have to go perfectly, but it is possible.

Wait, what the fuck? Can someone explain the game loss situation to me in detail? Was it on camera?

It was during Zem's featured match, on camera. The cards he sideboarded in for the second game were shuffled upside down into his deck. His opponent, just looking for any way to win, noticed this and called the judge over.
The clearly bored judge decided to inspect things further and noticed that Zem's sleeves weren't fully opaque, which combined with some of them being upside down, technically made them "marked." Zem got a game loss, and was already down a game, so it was essentially a match loss.
I can't wait until "skilled" "professionals" start cutting cards upside down and then calling judges to enforce the "rules."
Ouch...

What I don't understand is why Z's opponent waited until he was at 7 life to say anything? Did he not notice until then? I find that rather hard to believe.
