The description of this red deck is awesome. It sounds like something ham would play.

As a Canadian, these hockey alters please me greatly

Must have been a really nice evening, lots of love in the air haha.
Been spreading random DTR name drops on reddit to people gaining interested in the burn deck and/or Zem's run. I feel oddly like a cultist.
"Have you heard the good word of the red mage Zemanjaski?"
Link. I like to answer questions directly.

Guy I recognize from r/bjj asking about beating R/W burn. Answered a guy who was wondering how competitive R/W burn is right now.

I don't know what game they're playing, but I sure as hell don't know how to play it.

I don't know those decks, to be sure. I had been watching the stream live today, but I don't think I find that style of play interesting really. Battle of the combos it seems.
I feel like they need 1 black mana slaughter games or something in that format, to keep people from doing nothing but digging for ultra.

Just play affinity. You setting up for combo? take 10 infect. Affinty, Pod, Twin, three best decks in the format. Storm up there as well.

by LP, of the Fires
Oh hey, said that without knowing the top 8. 5 pod, 1 twin, 2 affinity.

Top 8 is just Affinity, Pod, and Twin.
Open format my ass.

I did hear them make comments about that like 50 times.
No the format, but about your open ass.

With Pod and Twin variants everywhere, I very much want to add
Linvala, Keeper of Silence to my deck.

Dan is not me. I have no idea who that guy is. A buddy of mine shared his video, but it wasn't a youtube link I could just share by itself. The link I gave you takes you to the guy that uploaded the video.

Well, he drew his singleton shatterstorm and won. Sometimes you just have to be lucky.
Besides, fantastic format modern ! top 8 was only pod and affinity.... seems like nacatl and bitterblossom had a big impact in modern

the clan guys can help with deck singles but you're going to need to get yourself on your feet first
Posted: Mon Mar 10, 2014 1:09 am
by zemanjaski
If you win lots you have lots of tix. Until then play pauper.
I'd check out gatherling.com and puremtgo.com; they run free entry tournaments with small prizes that can help you build a bank roll. Ill spot you a pauper deck if you like I have most lying around.

I have UR Delver right now. It seems to run pretty solid.

In pauper? Yeah that's the best deck.
Unless you mean the kiln fiend deck, which is terrible.
Posted: Mon Mar 10, 2014 1:57 am
by zemanjaski
Well not terrible but it doesn't really attack the format in a relevant way.

I maintain that modern is WotC's trying to have the reserve list both ways. They get to keep the reserve list (of all the promises that a US corporation has made, the reserve list is the only one ever kept, and the customers hate it) and offer up an eternal format untainted by it. If they would get a little more aggressive with the banned list they might have something with modern, but until then we'll have the pod, twin, and affinity metagame, and decks will cost half a year's pay because of their failure to keep their promise of keeping the format accessible.
WotC: Keeping the promises you want broken and breaking the promises you want kept since 1993.
