I know you like each of us more than anyone else does. That's why you won't leave.

Jabberwocky and I are both making a conscious effort to grind more this year. We're still on the fence about what eternal decks to trade into, though. I already have decks for both legacy and modern, but he doesn't, so I don't know what to trade into for him. We might just get another copy of Affinity and some kind of ANT variant for him since he's an idiot savant at math.

Also is the site kind of laggy for anybody else today? Pages taking decades to load for some reason.

ANT is just a really good deck. Otherwise, whatever type of BUG deck he will be most proficient with.

You can't ever go wrong with ANT.

Won't lie, I am definitely on the Bug Midrange (aka Blue Jund) strategy now.

Posting seems to take a long time, but browsing delay isn't noticeably different for me.

Stressing about the GP. I haven't decided on a deck yet. I've got all of the cards for any deck in the Dega wedge. What should I play?! AIR, Rx Devotion, Rw(b) Burn, MBA?! I expect Esper and MBD at the top tables with those plus burn and monsters at the lower ones.

Feels good to increase the weights I've been lifting. I can only conclude that playing Boros Burn for the last month has contributed to my increased muscle gain and fat loss.

All I know is that if you're any good at this game, don't play AIR. It can win, but those wins (and losses) are going to based on luck more than you want them to be.

I disagree with that statement whole-heartedly.

Disagree all you want, Stardust is 110% right about that. The deck doesn't need a competent pilot, it just has to flip over the right seven cards off of the top. The skill ceiling for a deck like that is pretty low, where a deck like mono black or RW burn has a lot of decision trees that offer a strong player more outs.

Sure, you might win a bunch of games because you vomited your hand onto the table, but you'll probably lose just as many because you weren't on the play and you fizzled out because your deck can't win against multiple Caryatids.

And trust me, I love stupid mono red aggro decks, but they have a time and a place, and a world where a 0/3 2 drop and a 2/4 3 drop (that gains life every turn to boot) exist is not where I want to be playing that deck.

Posted: Fri Apr 04, 2014 9:03 pm
by Stardust
It's not that there's no skill, and I wouldn't fault anyone for choosing to play the deck, but AIR is always, and always has been, dependent on both your draws and on your opponents. Sometimes they have a hand that AIR just can't beat. Sometimes you topdeck two Mountains in a row and fizzle out. It's not that it's a bad deck, it's that it's a high variance deck. If you don't care about that, all the power to ya. But if you think you're more skilled than the average player at an event, it's probably not your best choice.

It's not much. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm only working with 35 lb dumbbells.

I started in January with 25 lbs because, after not working out for a year and living off of mead, whiskey, and plenty of dark beers, I felt pretty weak. Still, 25 lbs with various exercises + daily pushups/crunches (and eating better) allowed me to lose almost 20 lbs in about 6 weeks. I upped the weight to 30 lbs in late February, increased my protein intake and lost 5 more lbs by mid-March. Now its early April and I've bumped the weights to 35 lbs, lost a few more pounds, and I'm eating something every 3-4 hours. Seriously. I'm ready to throttle somebody if I can't eat. It makes me wonder
how I was living off of only 1-2 meals a day last year. Slow metabolism probably.

Keep it up, Khaos. I do a handful of bar exercises (squat, deadlift, barbell row, overhead press, bench press) and then some weighted stuff with a belt that I can hang plates from (pullups, dips).
