I crave human interaction too much to play MTGO. I love the shuffling, the feel of my cards, the way my opponent plays footsie with me......
The way people try and make conversation with me as I just stare at them, wondering what it would be like to wear their skin. You know, normal stuff.

I much prefer paper over MODO, but I can only get out so much, and MODO is my fix for when I'm not able to. It's also REALLY nice to be able to build a new deck you want to try out in 10 minutes or so vs waiting to trade for cards or have them shipped to your door.

My other gripe with MTGO is having to rebuy all the same cards I already own, like fetches and shit.

It's true, MTGO is an awful product. For me it's either play MTGO or struggle to make it to the LGS once a month.

I guess I should count myself lucky to have 2 shops within 1-2 miles of my home that run regular events.

Fucking misclicks though man...
My third gripe.
I played all of like 20 games before last rotation after basically rebuying my whole standard deck last season - Hellriders, Nobles, Reckoners, etc.
I lost a bunch of games due to misclicks and being unable to Searing Spear my opponents' Hellriders precombat. Apparently, I had to set up a bunch of stops for each phase. Once I did that, I lost a couple of games by running out of time. So then I started clicking like crazy to beat the clock after that, which cause even more mistakes.
Much disappointment. Much sadness.

It really can be a pain in the ass to get the proper balance. Remember that you can set stops mid-game as well if you decide you need to do something in a phase where you don't normally. That is one of the few things that is actually easier in the beta client.
I usually set:
Opponent: Upkeep, Begin Combat, Attackers, Blockers, End
Mine: Both Main, Begin Combat, Attackers, Blockers
This covers about 99% of everything I need. It automatically adds a stop after first strike damage so having one in the combat damage step is usually unnecessary.

Apparently there is some problem with the switch the server is connected to. I've moved it to another location while this is getting fixed.
Also, since I couldn't get on the site yesterday, a happy belated birthday to Midnight_v.

Redbro, thank you. You're awesome. We of the forums rarely see each other, but its awesome that we take the time to give a damn. You're awesome.

Happy late B-day, midnight. I assume your birthday occurred while the site was down?
I swear, if it weren't for this site and Facebook, I wouldn't remember anyone's birthday except for mine.

I don't understand how people misclick.
Inexperience with the client, lag (especially on the beta) or not taking enough time to read the prompts. Most of my errors these days are errors in judgement but I do still click the wrong thing from time to time. Seems to happen to me more often on PW redirection and scrying, for some reason. The fact that the windows keep moving from where I set them doesn't seem to help, either.
Thanks, on another note...

Modo fucks me up as well L_D.
The last time I played I ... I remember misclicking in such a way that I shot my own, ash zealot with a lighting strike, the turn I was going to win.
I kinda walked away after that. The thing to do I imagine is spend a week in the practice room. Even then you're still going to lose some to misclicks occasionally I'd imagine.
What I want is instruction on things like Why "Don't waste time on 8 mans" and "How daily's are better" I don't know like "how to go infinite" etc
also...
Dat Garruck.
Dat necromancer's stockpile?

I mean, I hate mtgo as much as the next person but consistent misclicking shows a lack of basic mental and motor skills and not setting phases is pure user error of a system designed by an eight year old

by BlakLanner
The reason you don't do 8-mans unless you are grinding QPs is because the expected returns are a good deal less than if you were playing in dailies. You "go infinite" by playing in events, winning packs, then selling those packs to the trade bots in order to pay for future events or cards you need.
Edit for clarification:
Both events cost 6 tickets to enter. One pack is worth roughly 3 tickets.
8 mans are single elimination and pay out 5 packs for 3 wins, 3 packs for 2 wins, and 2 packs for a single win.
Dailies are 4 rounds of swiss and pay out 11 packs for 4 wins and 6 packs for 3.
Not only do you get more packs for the same number of wins with dailies, you also get even more with a 4th win as well as being able to take a loss during the event. This makes playing dailies much more profitable once you play at a reasonable level.

That's an interesting point you bring up.
Why would there be user interfaces issues with a program you're new to?
*the world may never know*
So yeah, resist the urge to jump right in to paid events. Buy a cheap deck. (likely burn or sligh)
and spend a week familiarizing yourself with the ins and outs of the program.
The truth is we fuck up because: Impatience.
You sit down like "YES! Time to burn some folios" and really you actually need to sit the fuck down, and relearn to play with the
new toy.

QPs = Qualification points. They are used to enter the Championship Series events that they hold each month. You can get some pretty valuable promo cards for entering as well as a shot at a lot of money if you win the monthly event and qualify for the annual tourney.

I have been on the beta for most of the time it has been available. It has made some decent progress in some areas but I fear that it is nowhere near ready for live deployment and will do severe damage to the health of Magic Online.

I hear that a lot. The beta is the ugly one with the gray background I take it.
What's wrong with it? I hear a lot of complaints about it... but all I get from them is "FUCK that I don't like it" I mean is the interface
designed by 13 year olds instead of 8 year olds? Or is it just... completely different?

Thanks for that post. Im like a million miles away from MDU territory though.

Dolt was likely forced to download the beta which would explain his hatred of it, if you watch CFB vids you will see the old client hat most players use

Gotcha the old one it the one MDU mostly uses.
The new one... people hat that shit. When does it become mandatory? Actually fuck it google ho!

It becomes mandatory on 16 July.

misclicking is much easier on the beta, since they took away the arrows and other awesome visual aids (for no reason)

I don't have issues misclicking on MTGO, though I routinely get into trouble by using F2 too much (skipping a phase during combat, or allowing a spell to resolve before responding)

I neither misclick or use the f keys, I'm just a pro

so finally can post here.
Looking for some sort of good WMCQ deck. Any opinions and options (not only agressive decks) would be awsome.
Currently thinking about some sort of Red/w or Green/b devotion.
