Let me explain.
Objectively, I understand the math. With a seven or six card hand and only one land, it looks like a bunch of great cards. I know that the math favors me drawing at least one more land very soon. I can know that the deck has a low curve or that I don't need to draw four lands in a row to stand a chance.
Subjectively, though, I know that if I only drew one land, it's probably because I didn't shuffle well enough and they're all clumped somewhere.

That'll keep those wannabe Vintage players quiet!Only so some neckbeard doesn't use a deck they don't play in a format they don't play as semantical posturingI'm glad you at least added that.(Format dependent) ^

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

Madding can do no wrong in my eyes for at least....the rest of this year simply for adding/finding/doing whatever he did to get that Scrump picture.

I think it should be said that going for the glory with a 1 lander sometimes (as in very rarely) doesn't make you a bad player. Accepting that you may need a gift from the gods to beat a particular matchup and having the perfect hand to do it if you draw only one more land for the next 5 turns means you may fall to temptation. Luck is part of the game, fun is part of the game. You're supposed to decrease chance and luck as much as possible, so you should still probably mulligan, but there's nothing wrong with "going for it" as long as you know it's wrong. It's the players that blame their losses on a bad luck mulligan and use that an excuse to keep more one landers that are the bad players. If you can't ever learn to stop doing it, or are looking for reasons to keep doing it, then you won't find much success in this game. But once in a blue moon on mtgo or FNM? Sure.
Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

One landers are also deck and hand dependant. With boss sligh, you keep 90% of 1 landers.
With burn, probably 1 in 3, you need a lot to go right with the hand.
Monsters, at least a scry land and a mana dork, but a caryatid works if you have enough other interaction to go with it.
The key to a 1 lander is how much can you do with the second land. Is the hand made or are you now stuck with needing the 3rd and 4th land cause then your % starts spiraling downwards.
With say mono-blue, you can gladly keep triple 1 drop, thassa and any other garbage, because your 3 1 drops are worth approximately 7 damage if you hit up to thassa and if add the number of lands plus the number of remaining 1-drops in your deck, you have good odds to still play magic if you brick for a while. I've won several games with just 2 lands getting there. Hell, I played against greg hatch where he kept a 1 lander, and failed to hit a second land
drop for a turn and never hit the third over 8 draw steps but had an army of familiars, raptors and weirds that where EASILY holding my stormbreaths at bay.
Mono-black? NOOOOOOOOOOO, unless you're playing like a mirror match with multiple thoughtseizes and bile blights or something like that. Context is king.
You can also be on the mull all one landers plan and do fine. LSV and PV are on opposite ends of the mulling spectrum respectivaly and PV has 9(?) PT top 8s while LSV had a streak of winning over 30 straight Premier event swiss matches(stretched across multiple GPs and PTs).

Also, yes, there are matchups that come up from time to time where you need to get lucky to win and any number of "bad" things are correct.
There have been several PT top 8 matches where testing has concluded that matchups where so bad that the players just boarded out a bunch of lands to try and get lucky to win(most recent I can recall being Sam Black V Wraptor at PT Philly for modern and an OLD one is Tsuyoshi Fujita at like, worlds in the mid 2000s vs. I don't remeber).

It's the last deck in the article. I'm not clear what Electromancer is supposed to do here without the card draw to back it up. Was more exciting when flashback was around. Maybe someone gives you a very nice Augury pile.
Looks FNM style fun though.

As much as I want UR to be a thing in Standard, that deck is not good.
