There are actually a couple of really good Mardu decks. The walkers list immediately comes to mind.except people who want to play Mardu lol.agreed. It seems like there's a competitive deck for just about everybody.I like the new Standard quite a bit. Looks to be quite healthy.

Just looking at the top 8, seems like Jeskai and Abzan work and that's about it. UB was the breakout deck of the format, but it's not particularly interesting either.
I was really hoping there would be some exciting / innovative decks like the aristocrats coming out of gatecrash.now I have to continue thinking for myself

You don't tend to get a full set of deck lists until a day or two after the event.

Basically the matchup is God aweful game 1 and close to even or favorable for the jeskai player postboard, but depending on how the threats line up to the answers, Junk player can still take it.
There's a reason you see everyone with some number of prog sphinx or keranos in the board. The easiest way to beat jeskai is to answer there threats.

Well, this matchup is damn near impossible when your opponent has double Rhino each game.

Ari and Abzan vs. Yuya and Jeskai.
Yuuya loses a pretty normal game one. Burn spells and fragile creatures are bad vs. Lifegain and big creatures. Game 2, Yuuya floods out and Ari outvalued him.
Saporiti Abzan vs. Strasky Jeskai.
More of the same. Game 1, Abzan wins with tri-rhino. Game 2, Strasky goes 2 drop>3 drop>countermagic+burn spells. Game 3, trip rhino gets there again.
Floch and UB vs. Sigrist and abzan agro(my favorite deck in top
.
Sigrist effectively mulls to 4, abzan charms into fleecemane and rakshasa deathdealer vs. Flochs disdainful strokes and zero removal. 2 drops two good. Second game, flochs draw is awkward and he gets outmuscled by rocs, vampires, and Ajani.
Combo vs. burn coming up next(McClaren probably has the best jeskai deck for the top 8 assuming he gets past combo which has an interesting transformational board).

McClarens deck is built to be able to play different roles much better. I did like how Yuuya's deck was built to grab a lead and keep it, but McClaren's has 4 dig through time, 2 maindeck anger of the gods and a pair of keranos in his board.
This nigga's deck is tight.

Second silence in the main seems clunky and I wasn't a fan of 4 despise(they become dead draws fairly quickly). I liked Owen's list with Aetherspouts and perilous vaults. I also think this list was heavily metagamed for a PT courser heavy meta and that there's 1 or 2 more counterspells main then I'd want, but they're fairly excellent in the matchups that you want them.LP can I get some input:

And Shaun falls in G1 to the one weakness of the deck: color screw + dual Siege Rhino.

This deck is such a hot mess but I can't help but love it:
[deck]
Creatures
4 Hornet Nest
1 Hornet Queen
4 Sylvan Caryatid
4 Courser of Kruphix
Planeswalkers
3 Nissa, WorldWaker
Lands
2 Forest
1 Island
1 Mountain
1 Swamp
4 Frontier Bivouac
4 Llanowar Wastes
3 Mana Confluence
4 Opulent Palace
2 Wooded Foothills
2 Yavimaya Coast
Spells
2 Dig Through Time
4 Disdainful Stroke
4 Hero's Downfall
2 Sultai Charm
4 Temur Charm
4 Divination
Sideboard
4 Tormod's Crypt
4 Nylea's Disciple
3 Doomwake Giant
2 Sultai Charm
2 Bow of Nylea
[/deck]
As for Ari, I'm indifferent since I think he's only playing the role of a douche to throw people off. It's sorta like watching anything else, we need villains to make things more interesting. As for his Abzan deck, I love it. I'd be 100% into Abzan if it wasn't for the fact that I run into Green Devotion way too much.
