I think Jeskai can be tuned to beat Abzan now that we know what the deck looks like.
Reprisal,
Glare of Heresy,
Disdainful Stroke, etc are all cards.

I'll probably do something like take McClarens deck and instead of the angers add 1 seeker and 1 disdainful stroke to the main to start testing with.

It's such BS that only control decks need an established meta to be tuned. There ya go listen to Val.

And the Abzan Aggro deck is just amazing. 8 2s, 4 herald of torment to go with your rhino shenangigans is dope.

So I just finished a KTK Release draft and got two copies of everything I drafted...

Rakshasa Deathdealer, Fleecemane Lion and Herald felt way more powerful than the usual Caryatid into Courser boredomness

It's such a confidence booster to see a deck I put together on week one being nearly identical to one that made top 8 at PT. I was really starting to doubt myself considering my performance since rotation has been subpar.

Silence the Believers / counterspells are good.
Do you think Esper is viable or is the UB control deck in itself powerful enough to deal with the metagame? Ivan Floch really seemed to struggle against 'aggro' (well) strategies...
I'm also sad to see no copies of
Empty The Pits this weekend

Empty the Pits is BB away from being playable.

Play 4 Hushwing, play 3 Glare, check. Suspension Field and Blight are not efficient answers to Rhino (erase, and blight, utter end)
Straskys list is so good.

Glare is the best suggestion I've heard all day.

Sounds like a good plan given that it also takes out Sorin, Elspeth, Ajani, and Roc.

Has relevant targets vs Jeskai as well. Closest thing to a doom blade rigyt now lol.

Glare, Reprisal or Pillar of Light. Suspension Field and B-Light are also answer, better in G1 than post-board. Pick your poison.

Is aggro viable at all in this format ? I don't consider aggro jeskai wins or abzan (deathdealer/lion) that play ZERO one drops. The only aggro list i saw is the r/w heroic soldiers. We must do something about this

Both the token deck and brads deck seem legit, the idea of "going wide" is where you want to be if you are "aggro".

Lax finally got lei'd.

So is anyone seriously playing Mardu Aggro? The PT results didn't give me any hope for the deck.
Posted: Mon Oct 13, 2014 9:11 pm
by Lightning_Dolt
There were only 2 Mardu decks in the top decks. One was midrange, one was walkers.
Aggro is pretty bad when you have to deal with 0/3 hexproof walls and 2/4s that gain life.
You have to go big or go wide or both.

Mardu with hordeling outburst instead of rabblemaster seems good.

re: Ari's demeanor.
I was rooting for him the entire way. He shows up at my LGS quite a lot. I've played against him a few times now in various formats. Whether in victory or defeat he's always been gracious. He's just a tad socially awkward and knows he's both very intelligent and very good at the game. Considering the attitudes of the majority of the MTG community, any resentment is likely people seeing a piece of themselves they don't like.

Ari trolls his opponent during each game. idk why ya'll hink he is just being friendly.

he's done that to me. I never thought he was trolling me. I always just thought he was thinking outloud.

I mean, I know that the events I've played against him are nothing compared to the Pro Tour Top 8. But he was no different than he's always been. That's just how he plays. Everybody's different.

That's mostly just thinking out loud. I used to do the same thing all the time, and I still say what I think my opponents plays are going to be half the time.

At this point I'd turn it into trolling. 1000%. If I'm innocently thinking out loud and my opponent shows that it puts them on tilt? Oh boy am I going to take advantage of that.

Lol what?
Ari's getting heat for things MANY (if not most) mtg players do. It's hypocritical.

I was rooting for Ari because of how excited that dude got. When he topdecked that Elspeth, that was a great moment.

To my Southern brethren, I'll be moving to the Charlotte area in two weeks. My wife is down there at this moment finding us a home. I think we'll be living in the Mooresville, NC area, but it depends on where she can find a place.

This is why everyone should play MTGO instead. No need to interact with your subhuman opponents!
