I think the VD thread is winding down - really you can only argue a point for so long without any evidence or logic.

Thanks, Helios.

I'm glad I found out y'all aren't pro racism and slavery - if that came up while I was rep at MTGS, I'd totally have voted the other way...

Whew!

The VD thread makes me weep for humanity. I mean damn I'm not the greatest around at magic or anything but holy shit. Apparently I'm a lot better than the average bear.
And god damnit, somehow I got dragged into that mess and for some reason I continue to fight the stupidity in the world. The latest guy at least had a legitimate argument. The damn things do cost $20 per playset.

I have a theory on that, though.

The theory is simple, people are stupid and bought playsets thinking it's a no duh 4-of in red decks. Also, it does have some maybe
playability value in modern and legacy, which push the price up a little. Just because a card isn't a dollar bulk rare doesn't mean it's good. There are examples of cards being non-bulk rares that aren't played but are worth a few bucks for various reasons.

Worry not, you won't be disappointed.

Hey RT, I figured I'd take advantage of the lower traffic of these boards and post my vengevine list discussion in the modern developing section--come argue with me about faithless looting.

Will do.

What is there to argue? The card is amazing if you have around 11 or more effects that benefit from placement in the GY.

Those were my thoughts, but I'm open to the possibility that it's not worth splashing a third color for.

Oh you will not be disappointed. The different stories are all amazing at how they tie into the overall narrative of the story. The third book, Endymion, begins with the best first line of any of them, "You are reading this for the wrong reason." Bastard.

At the moment the writing style is getting to me, if just a bit. I expect that once things pick up it will become much better.

See...now up until the Fling I was okay because it sounded like Golgari Aggro (not competitive in the format by any means but it had a few weeks of relative success). Then...damn.

The VD thread has, against all possible expectations, gotten even more moronic.

"In multicolor decks? Lets not even pretend that the red one-drops compete." :confused2:

He's referring to Stromkirk Noble.
Someone should point out the one-two punch of Stromkirk Noble + Rancor.

How much do each of those cost again? And running both means it's a multicolored deck by definition?!? :munch:

What?!? That dude's advice is solid.

FWIW, people like that are why I'm so grateful that my wife realizes that her card evaluation skills haven't quite matured yet, and is willing to listen to advice.

That tale is one of the more haunting ones in the book. Wait until you get to The Poet's Tale, and then expect to cry at The Scholar's Tale. Powerhouse writing at its finest.

Just for the sake of asking: I've read The Fall of Hyperion last year and I didn't like it as much as I would have expected after reading the first one, thus never bothered starting the Endymion... seing such
enthusiasm I guess that now is a good time to do so, isn't it?

Present for Photo. http://www.wizards.com/magic/Digital/Ma ... rn/5230719 The 19th or 20th deck down is orzhov zombies and it actually has lots of things I like. Deck needs another land, and another creature, but overall it looks like a very good blood artist deck.

I haven't read it either. Been meaning to for many years, though.

Want to try this on the weekend if I'm sufficiently sober (or not, the deck may not require it):

[deck]
4 Ash Zealot
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Burning Tree Emissary
4 Firefist Striker
4 Gore-House Chainwalker
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Lightning Mauler
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Stromkirk Noble

1 Dynacharge
4 Searing Spear

19 Mountain[/deck]

La horreur! La horreur!

Why would you need to be sober to play that? It doesn't even look like you were sober when you built it...

You could always take out those costly Reckoners.
Alternatively, you could take out those useless Stromkirk Noble, as they would NEVER deal 4 damage anyway (you know, with all those smiters and first strikers around...).

I mean, it is a 4/3 on the first turn - and who doesn't want that?

Plus it's late-game reach...

Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?

The idea is naya blitz, but with playable mana. Also, you get to play Reckoners, which is HUGE in the pseudo-mirror.

I'm real tempted to try that list Zeman.... it looks really brain less and I'm getting annoyed that my boros deck is holding me back (since on poor and can't build aristocrats)
