Yup, last September 17th was when the site was brought live. :toot:

One year and 100,000+ posts later, I think we are doing just fine!

I'm currently travelling, so I will share some thoughts about this first year a bit later on. I'm also distributing some random trophies once I have the time, but feel free to share your thoughts on this site milestone ITT!

Btw, thanks everyone for making this such an awesome online community! :love2:

This is actually a great little site for everyone who wasn't getting what they wanted on Sally. It's awesome we've lasted a whole year and things will only get better in 2014.

What's great is that most people here develop a thick skin (ragequits are surprisingly rare here despite our stigmatized 'gutter' reputation), which is great for long term membership since it cuts down on people getting faux-offended over every perceived slight. By not coddling our userbase and allowing the mods here to act on their own accord without neckbeardish oversight, we've cultivated a decent community of posters. Out of our 270 users, probably 40-50 log in during a given week, which is far higher than Sally's 2k-3k out of 110k. I think people can handle the 'straight talk'
we provide here, even if it irks them at first (I remember a battle between Madding and I against redthirst and kaze when they first arrived but now we're all on the same page).

This site was created by N_S with community in mind and while it has aspirations of being a big MTG forum one day, it was founded to give a bunch of friends / misfits / online outcasts a home first and foremost. That's why I think DTR can only thrive and get stronger from here. Our issues are resolved out in the open, for better or worse, but when someone is trying to cause unnecessary drama, they get called out for it. It's a system that totally bypasses the authoritarian method of private PM reprimands (infractions) and cuts down summitting roughly 84.37%. If someone is being an ass here, you can tell them that they're being an ass. You don't need to file a formal complaint to a team of fifty moderators who may or may not get back to you within a year.

Plus we have a bunch of neat smileys, spam threads and PG-13+
content that shows we have enough faith in our users to treat (most) of them like adults. :wangle:
