What Rustles Your Jimmies in EDH?

For le complaints.

Mine?
- Recursion
- Hexproof
- Protection
- Ramp

Essentially: Non-interactive things. I pretty much hate 'Battlecruiser' Magic where the goal is to see who can get their biggest baddie out first (answer: the one with the most ramp). The more back-and-forth, the more likely both players are to come out of the game with a sense of satisfaction - even if something crazy didn't happen.

People who bitch about EDH being a "fun" format and have a definition of fun that basically boils down to "nothing that keeps me from doing exactly what I want and winning every game".

They play a bunch of durdly expensive spells? MLD is against the spirit of EDH.
They play Combo? Counters and spot removal are against the spirit of EDH.
They play a ton of dudes? Wrath effects are against the spirit of EDH.

1. Gaddock Teeg - locks folks out of games
2. Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, I hate how your lands stay tapped after killing him.
3. Child of Alara, nothing lives very long
4. Decks that make it impossible for anyone to win just to draw the game out.
5. Decks that steal creatures constantly.
6. People who blow up shit that was no threat just to spite others.
7. Extort decks, to much life gain for such a litle cost
8. Sheoldred, Whispering One, gets out of hand fast with more graveyard recurrsion
9. Glissa decks. Should I say anything more?
10. People who won't play commander cause they think it is boring or a waste of money.

You should see the fucking morons in this Facebook group tell me that I don't understand the "spirit of EDH" and gets buttmad when I tell him that he's bad at deckbuilding.

Humility

That card angers me. He also had the Elspeth Emblem that made everything indestructible and I could not find my Merciless Eviction

Gaddock Teeg, in a format with bunches of BIG SPELLS is not fun. I don't mind counter or kill spells, i've even had some good fun with decree of silence and proliferate, but having that kind of reliable stopping power on a commander is an insane amount of virtual card advantage, especially in the colors he's in.

I don't mind Gaddok Teeg, personally. He dies to basically everything, and if you know he's in your playgroup, you can build around that.

I play Path to Exile/Swords to Plowshares/Journey to Nowhere/Oblivion Ring/Detention Sphere as my ways to deal with him, and nobody even plays him at our store. And these cards aren't even central to my deck.

The guy who plays adds tons of indestructable shit to it to protect Teeg. If he plays Privilidged Position Before Teeg; :no2:. He also plays tons of creatures with protection from colors. Sigarda hits the board often as well.

If I play my Kaalia deck; I will kill Teeg decks. Nekusar has issues with Teeg though.

I play against a wide variety of different people in different groups. I am running enough cheap kill in my nekusar deck that the first couple times he hits play it souldn't be a major issue, but the inability to hit him with sweeprs is annoying, and my ezuri deck only has 3 spells stopped by him. The issue is the ease of reusing him is the problem. If he were part of the other 99 I would have no issues, but the replayability makes it painful.

It's the Teeg deck in entirety that I hate. He did a good job putting it together. He draws perfect everytime as well. Drives me nuts.

If you really think the deck is that big of a problem, srsly, just talk to the guy. Alex is totally right, that's the best solution. It always is.

People that get butt mad over Armageddon/(*insert 'dick' card here) I play EDH to play all the cool cards that are largely garbage/banned in other formats (such as Yawgmoth's Bargain, Necropotence, Strip Mine, GAUNTLET OF POWER), Armageddon is one of them.

Killed the format for me for a bit.

Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron + Ashen Rider works better.

I'm not saying splinter twin decks are unfair, it just sucks losing out of nowhere to them.

Happens to me a lot when I play, too. I'll usually cast Sygg on 4, which lets me hit people a few times before anything starts really happening, and they get super buttmad. I'm like "It's literally only 2 damage."

I had 15 Plains in play and a Leonin Arbiter, my opponent had like 5 swamps (a Cabal Coffers got Strip Mined) and was stuck on mana...but because he had a Lord of the Void, the 3rd player assumed he was a bigger threat.

They shoulda killed me while they had the chance >:)

I despise people who try to define what fun is and ban cards/archetypes because they're not fun.

Side note: My new hobby is finding Cockatrice "No MLD" games and playing the Stasis version of my Zedruu deck. Basically I know that means the host is a G or UG ramp-derp player and I want to hose him something fierce. It doesn't destroy lands; you just can't untap them.

Hell is other players.
This. It's kind of sad I have to avoid an entire game store's EDH night because the players that show up there suck at the game and are happy to sit in their shit behind their "It's casual, we don't do that" fort.

It also sucks because that particular store sells beer... on tap. I want to drink a glass of beer while playing magic. But not if some dipshit with a troll tribal deck is going to complain and scoop because of a strip mine.
