Won my quarterfinal. Top 4 is now 3 Delver (me and two friends on the same deck) and 1 Burn. ^_^

I know I'm late to the party but finally played dig in place of cruise. Equally ridiculous
and in some cases I preferred it.

Maybe but I think we will end up splitting tbh.

I'm really hoping treasure cruise is banned but dig is left alone just before GP Vancouver, since then I can just play dtt/snap and crush people who dismissed the deck as dead.

I firmly believe Dig plus Snapcaster is just stronger; I'm of the opinion this will be like Pyromancer / Eidolon in standard last format.

Have you tried 1/2 swiftspears with that version just to try with another delver?

Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2014 3:26 pm
by DXI-Edge
I'm also debating going to 18 land in that version but I'm not aure

I might be with you on the hopes of cruise getting banned metronome lol
I look forward to showing how equally ridiculous dig is after everyone dismisses the deck.
Gotta stay ahead of the curve someway right lol

So, this deck is named after the Delve cards, right? I'll do some Delving with my Modern Delver deck?

by hamfactorial
Yo dawg we heard you like delving so we put Delve in your Delver deck so you can Delve while you Delve.

You guys are going to want Affinity hate that doesn't cost 1 mana.

As someone who plays Affinity, I'm running 3 Chalice of the Void's in my sideboard now, and that card is a beating.

Is Shatterstorm too slow? I'm strongly considering abandoning SB blood moon already so would be in the market for alternatives anyway.

Posted: Thu Nov 06, 2014 2:31 pm
by DXI-Edge
That's what my inclination was to do. The way the meta is shaping up, the decks I want blood moon vs. I never really need it, it's just a niche pick.

I'm moving down to 1 for a shatterstorm I think.

Is overloading vandalblast possible in modern?

Posted: Thu Nov 06, 2014 3:28 pm
by GoblinWarchief
Shattering spree can answer chalice of the void because copies are not cast and is versatile because you can cast it for any amount of mana. Smash to smithereens fits in the aggressive gameplan of the deck (although the dig/snap lists are less aggressive) and is a card i like because i can side it in when i think my opponent will probably have some random annoying artifacts but i know it could stay in my hand for a while without targets .... the possibility of dealing 3 damages makes me feel less bad to side in a card that could be dead. Shatterstorm is obviously the best against affinity but 4 mana are 4 mana. If you fear ensoul artifact on a darksteel citadel you may consider shattering blow, which is also a nice answer to wurmcoil engine.

It is, I've done it before.

Smash seems good

I like Shattering Spree best by far. Vandalblast never gets around Chalice even when overloaded.

Batterskull went back in my SB for Darkblast.
About Darkblast.

It being Dredge 3 coupled with Delve in Cruise & Dig plus the new Bloodghast_1.2 (Bloodsoaked Champion) led me to experiment with UB Delver.

Pro
Darkblast is faster Cruise/Dig fodder and reusable removal fitting the meta (=UR Delver, Affinity, etc.)
Disfigure hits Burns critters.
Bloodghast
Bloodsoaked Champion
Better removal suite
Greater threat persistance
(Odd revelation: Dimir Charm flips Delver, hard counters Cruise and hits most Tier 1 critters.)

Con
No burn to the head.
No direct artifact hate

Also no young pyromancer which is the reason to play the dexk

by MattT
MD Darkblast and mehaps even Bileblight disagrees.

Disfigure, Bloodghast and Bloodsoaked Champions are not good reasons to be in black.

It's also not about writing out Alistair of which archetype has more positive attributes, because that assumes that they're equally weighted, which they're not; Lightning Bolt is the best spell in the format and Pyromancer might be the best creature; no card on black is close to the power lever of either. That's not to say that there isn't reason to consider black, but it's not for some crappy creatures.

I mean "better removal suite" and Disfigure are just non-starter arguments mate.

Dark Blast, Doom Blade and Dimir Charm are gas though.

by zemanjaski
Grixis Charm would be gas too.

Thank God Zem posted so I didn't have to.

Grixis Delver is a legit consideration. UB is not.

Darkblast, Terminate, Dimir Charm, and Rakdos Charm? Yes please.

With bg's decline thanks to treasure cruise and dig, is it time to drop the threads of disloyalty? How often are they coming in now?

Posted: Sun Nov 09, 2014 9:40 pm
by zemanjaski
Jund and UWR are the two most popular decks here. I'd say each is still 10% of our meta.

And yeah zero games dropped, zero fucks given.

by zemanjaski
Like we've collectively discussed, sideboards should reflect your meta; I don't think mine is exemplary of anything.
