At MTGS Azrael took the gloves off, at MTGC he is slapping our face with them

Well there's this well known fact that the Staff at MTGS hold a big grudge against Azrael for making the site its biggest service since its inception by helping remove the most paranoid admin to have ever been in place there.

I was surprised at first at seeing so much ill will against someone who prolly made the most over the years for bettering that site, until I came to terms with the fact that some of those guys are so insecure that they see the cries of the userbase for the removal of unfit staff as some HUGE break of their authority, hence the grudge, which is likely only surpassed by the angst against Internet Satan.

Hence the policies enacted recently disallowing select people to criticize the way some WCT mods do their job. With the current mindset, any Glovelike threads will likely be deleted and the posters infracted/suspended*. Sad but true, its not like there isn't a precedent since the original plan to ban me
back in the last summer was linked to my posts criticizing the iridium in CI.

*with the added benefit that staff may claim that things have been very quiet in CI since the mass bannings. Easy to implement if you ruthlessly squash dissent

...I'm not exactly sure what you mean there, man. I mean you do realize Az just threw you under the fucking bus, right?
...and if they do come looking for trouble, Az? I mean, thanks for the weather report and all, but you're not exactly hitting on the central points there.
nIf some random member of the staff comes looking for trouble, it'll be up to Curse and admin to sort them out. Curse seems to have a pretty good idea how to do customer service, judging from Boub, and I expect they're going to be hanging around for the long-term.
But why would it be up to the staff/Curse (as though they were separate entities?) to delineate the behaviors of the members of the staff on another website? Regardless of your intent, your words above WERE interpreted by a portion of the staff as being nothing more than saying "Don't tread on me," which is basically the view of most of the populace of MTGS since this site's inception. The segregationist attitude is inherently at odds with those on this site who were banned from getting that overturned. Is that still a thing? 'Cuz I thought it was.

Sad but true, its not like there isn't a precedent since the original plan to ban me back in the last summer was linked to my posts criticizing the iridium in CI.
Which reminds me a story, back when I was WCT mod I managed to prove that with some dose of patience and honesty it was possible to talk with any forum member, no matter how obnoxious he might be considered to be. For example, I remember that I managed to reach an
amicable agreement over some issue LogicX had with me after a few more than usual number of posts in my helpdesk.

ofc with the current mindset on staff such policies are akin to science-fiction, so big is the fear to interact with the userbase, leading to all these buffers and fences being raised so that people do not feel inclined to interact with staff. The most lulzy diagnostic of this illness being that mod lounge thread where staff bitched about being harassed by the userbase, funniest thing I read for a while.

But it's good that they raise fences, that way we can paint them. :teach:

Croneyism?

Refusal to let go of power?

Trying to make him appear removed to satisfy the userbase while still maintaining your system of patronage?

Take your pick.

Ria is a mod lounge consultant to avoid retalitory attacks?

I dont think thats the reason hes a consultsnt but im sure its an added bonus now that he cant be openly questioned.

Ria gets demanded to be removed, becomes mod lounge consultant.

Former admin Az leaves on good terms, now cant go within 50 yards of mod lounge.

Ria was their tech for years , he knows all their codes , and if got mad , it would been easy to bring site down.

As much as i would like to think ria had the whole staff hostage lest he take down their website, thats pretty much not the case.

Inaccurate.

He was tech for the amount of time that went by between the First MTGS Summitâ„¢ and the time where he quit being a tech because uber-troll Hannes never gave him any tech powers. He knows all the codes alright... about how to upload smileys,
create Speakeasies and lock down subforums.

ER wanted his mentor back but Gal didn't want him to have any mod power so they reached a happy compromise.

or maybe ria just sent enough PMs blaming all of his vindictive messages and power abuses on the gutter and their continued attacks on his flawless character. surely that can be the only reason he destroyed years of friendships, the oldest clan on the site, and empowered a generation of unqualified higher ups: the gutter.

BTW, I love the time stamps of the events:

11-25-2012, 09:18 PM (-6 UTC) - Gaea's Regent has been relieved of his position.
11-27-2012, 01:45 AM (-6 UTC) - Feyd_Ruin and rianalnn have accepted offers to come on as a Lounge Consultants.

Conveniently shutting down the opposition makes it a two-day thing to disregard agreements made in the First MTGS Summitâ„¢ :B

To this day it would be a great surprise to the Salvation community (including 95% of the moderators) to discover how little power the administrators and technicians had during Hannes' reign, down to even the smallest configuring capabilities that the software allows. It was the first thing I looked at when I became a moderator, and it was quite amusing to me. Administrators came and went without ever having much more access than a normal moderator. Why do you think they always kept Annorax around?

Hopefully Boubs has distributed the proper channels to his Curse people.
