If you don't already have an FoS shirt, I would suggest screenprinting one immediately to rub it in his face. You should ask him if he wants one. ;)

Play 18 land.

Splashing extra colors past 3 is fine, so long as you don't have to play splashed basics.

All the x/2 creatures seem terrible that cost more then 3. Trading with morphs is unacceptable unless the creature also has something awesome it does or enables.

HOLY SHIT BOARD STALLS. Basically evasion is amazing. WIth outlast muddling up the ground, having flyers or unblockable guys seems extra important in khans.

Like, one of the best commons is the blue 3/2 for 5 unblockable guy with morph since he can actually finish the game for you.

Yeah, that's why I urged people to play a lot of sealed before the set came out, battlecruiser Magic is very easy once you understand what keywords are most important. This format will probably be flying and trample, the unblockable guy is good but trample creatures are usually just better.

2/2 for 2 have even better value than normal, especially with all the tap lands and morphs floating around. And learn to be okay with running off color morphs you can't flip to fill out your curve. Don't fall into prowess mind games, if they have it they have it, so holding back just let's them build up more, just make them have it.

Jeskai Charm is every bit as annoying as I worried it would be.

Jeskai burn seems well positioned with all the manabases dealing damage to everyone.

I feel like Mardu midrange is going to be really good once it is tuned. Likely write a primer tomorrow.

Went 3-1 with Mardu Midrange tonight losing to being color-blind(aka stupid).

[deck]4 Goblin Rabblemaster
4 Butcher of the Horde
4 Bloodsoaked Champion
4 Gnarled Scarhide
3 Ashcloud Phoenix
3 Stormbreath Dragon
4 War-Name Aspirant
3 Hero's Downfall
3 Magma Jet
1 Lightning strike
3 Crackling Doom
2 Nomad Outpost
4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Temple of Malice
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Swamp
3 Mountain
2 Caves of Koilos
2 Temple of Silence
4 Battlefield Forge

SB:
3 Thoughtseize
2 Sarkhan
1 Sorin
1 Read the Bones
1 Empty the Pits
1 Arc Lightning[/deck]

Deck was suboptimal since store was sold out of Caves and I didn't feel like buying confluences so I went with 2 temples and a 3rd mountain which where fine. The board was a result of me building it as the tourney started and not caring since it was FNM.

For the list itself, it had a lot of power, but I quickly learned that war-name aspirant was
AWEFUL in this list and that I wanted a 25th land. Replaceing the aspirants with land and 3 thoughtseizes or some number of sign in bloods probably makes the deck much better.

Played against Jeskai Burn, Boros Midrange, GB rock, and Mono-red Scrump(built Khaos' deck and friend played it). The finals of FNM was Esper control vs. Junk mid and a friend finished x-1-1 with Jeskai Ascendancy combo.

Notes:

Flyers are Awesome.

My sideboard deck could possibly be better then what I played(mardu midrange with infinite 4's 5's and walkers).

Bloodsoaked Champion is bonkers.

Khaos's deck is amazing. Playing it at a small GPT tomorrow.

Jeskai Ascendancy is very good if you don't play against agro since it destroys midrange.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

How did you like Gnarled Scarhide?

Also not really sure why 4 dragons and
0 sarkhans. Wouldnt 3/1 split would be probably better?

I understand War-Name aspirant. He seems somehow a trap.

Not sure if I preffer Jeskai or Mardu Flyers.

I think I actually ended up with 2 dragons and 1 sarkhan main with 1 sarkahn in the board.

Sarkhan's REALLY fucking good. The versatility to kill creatures actually just buries people sometimes.

I was actually siding it. I had Gryff with Bile Blight and Drown in Sorrow post sideboard, yet I never saw any of them and it stopped all my creatures in their tracks. In the first round Hornet Queen came down turn 4 twice.
:slant:

I'm actually considering [cards]End Hostilities[/cards] and making my deck more control-ish post sideboard. Green devo is way too rampant in my meta, and I'm not keen on changing decks just yet.

My opponent played one with the lifelink mode to stabilize, then one with the creature on top mode to get rid of sarkan, then one to burn me out in the same game.

It is the worst parts of azorious charm with the best part of boros charm. Lazy design, super annoying. I couls have done without those effectS in standard for a while.

Yeah, it's just more experience in the end.

Card pool wasn't that exciting. Had a hard time finishing building my deck, because I couldn't decide what colors to focus on. So it became a five color pile, with two wedge lands and seven duals. Had to just write down some basics while the judge took my decksheet, so the colors were all messed up. Turned out I had forgot to mark one card that was in my maindeck so I got a game loss before the second match. Overall, there were lots of warnings and game losses issued today.
