The coolest thing about Quake was that you could put any music CD on your CD-ROM drive and it would play it as the game's soundtrack. I discovered this accidentally after leaving Prodigy's The Fat of the Land in. I could never play the game any other way afterwards.

Haha. Well I played tons of Red Alert 1 and 2, Age of Empires II and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Also SimCity 2000 if you count it as a RTS game.

After those I focused on FPS (I played the first Quake like there was no tomorrow) and the Hitman series. Also keep in mind that my first job happened in 2003, and that back in the day we played almost only games that were introduced by friends. I have just recently learned about Steam and that has been the bane of my wallet. XD

I'm trying to remember the name of a game

Once upon a time, I played a shareware demo of this game that seemed pretty cool. However, the demo was really short, and back in the day I had neither purchasing power, nor the current state of the Internet. I figured now I could easily try it, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called, and my Google searches have been unfruitful so far.

So it was an RTS, a la Red Alert.
It was sort of futuristic.
When you clicked on a unit, you saw a little pic of the guy driving it.
I remember that you had a specific military rank, and some of the units you commanded had a higher rank than yours.
If you selected one of these higher-ranked units, instead of the usual "Yes, sir?", you would get a rather rude "What do you want?".

And that is pretty much all that I remember about it. Anyone remembers something like this?
