Well I guess it depends on whether you consider a midrange deck to be more of an aggro or control deck. I just think this is closer to a deck like Abzan midrange than it is to Jeskai Burn & Boss Sligh...and there are no threads in the "controlling variants" right now lol edit: @Aodh, ...

This is a control deck. It rarely matters if your bomb is a 5/5 or a 6/6, which is what the fountains would do on average. I think you just need to survive against boss Sligh, and land drops that gain you life might facilitate this.

The most dominant deck in the previous format ran 18 or so XBB spells and 4 BBB spells with 4 colorless sources. Works just fine and will help against Jeskai and the aggro decks of the world.

Do we really need that many sources for U and W, and is 10 fetches too conservative? Taking it up to 13 fetches and 1 shockland, we're still on 14 sources for the splash, but only 15 damage in our lands?

How many shocklands do we need now? Can we just run 10-12 fetches plus the splash shockland(s) and call it good? I'm trying to debate how many Sacred Foundries I might ever need, and I'm not entirely sure I need any more than one.

Idea’s obvious, but imagine a land/land/Spike/Probe/Wraith/Manamorphose/Cruise hand vs unknown deck. Would you keep it? Yes, I think so. I'll play the deck this Thursday and see if it has any merit. Of course we have enough spells to avoid the cantrip thing, but with the cantrips, our deck is liter...

We have 12-16 untapped in this past two pages of lists with a lot of 13/15 builds.

The idea's to optimize the turn 4 goldfish frequency. Could even incorporate Manamorphose for even more cantrippiness, but would allow Delver to 1-for-1+time walk us too much.

Hall of Triumph won't protect your 2/1s from Drown in Sorrow. I still like it, just not for that reason. Has anyone thought about running Radiant Fountain to help offset life loss and win some races? Right, which is half. Since 12-18 creatures, 20 lands, 22-28 spells. Not sure if it's excellent, but I don't think playing at sorcery speed is really something we care about.

Post board you have: 4 shocks 2 magma jet 2 magma spray 4 lightning strike 4 searing bloods Putting creatures into play is very risky from the burn side. I assume it depends on the number of colors right? We have access to all 16 now, and they're all functionally equivalent since our mana base is mountains plus fetchlands. Historically we've been running 8 in pretty much all varieties, but with access to more, do we want more?

If you have YP$ out, they have to +1; if you have Eidolon out, they have a choice. Remember that planeswalkers are good because they are flexible. Jace +1 makes all of our dudes into 1-power creatures, so there's no difference between AZ, YP$, EotGR when facing a Jace +1. The difference is that YP$ ...

Yeah I've played a handful of games and prefer the 21 land. I've also been liking Titans Strength over Hall. The 3 damage adds up quick with Maakas and I always find the scry useful! Have you been trying the full 4 firefist?

I don't play as UW control often, but from burn's side I would much rather attack for 1 damage and them draw one card than attack for 2 damage and them draw 3 cards. Divination + gain 2 life is better than Nyx-Fleece Ram, IMO.

You can't fairly base the power of one card in conjunction with another since the probability of seeing both in one game is low (like 20%). Anyway, how has 18 R and 10 W been working for people? Historically we have wanted 19-20 R for RR spells and I generally want more colored sources.

I'm not sure you can say that Fortify is better, but it's certainly a consideration to be made if you're in the market for that kind of effect.
