It's not a secret that I love "you win the game" cards, and I was falling quite behind the times with building decks around the new ones. Here's what I came up with for Hellkite Tyrant:

[deck]Hellkite Tyrant[/deck]

Use card draw and Tolarian Academy ramp to get both Mycosynth Lattice and Hellkite Tyrant out. If you get some damage
through with the trample, it doesn't even matter that much that your dragon dies, since you'd be stealing all of their permanents.

IDK, he's not giving me actual card advantage there...

I'm thinking about putting more artifacts in there/replacing the non-permanents, for those times when I need to reach 20+ artifacts on my own... Temple Bell, or something.

Fun idea for reaching 20 artifacts on your own.

Selective memory to get rid of non permanent cards from your deck then add green for Primal surge to draw 20 artifacts and put them into play. :D

That's actually pretty awesome! It even puts the Mycosynth Lattice on the BF if it wasn't there already. I need to try this idea, for sure. :hifive:

Memnarch to steal their things and turn them into artifacts?

Also, how relevant are 4x counterspell when they are the only counters in the deck?

Memnarch seems hilarious, thanks!

And no, it's not that relevant. This deck actually needs more work, because so far it's been winning on pure stealing people's stuff, but it's actually having trouble fulfilling the 20-artifact requirement of the dragon's win condition. I'll be reviewing this list soon.

Alright, I just did a modern version of this and had a pretty close win against a mill deck. I won with 0 cards on my library. Feels good after a hiatus.

[deck=Hellkite Tyrant (Modern)]Combo
4 Hellkite Tyrant
3 Mycosynth Lattice

Creatures
4 Trinket Mage
4 Master Transmuter
3 Etherium Sculptor
2 Treasure Mage
2 Tribute Mage

Mages' Toolbox
2 Planar Portal
1 Swiftfoot Boots
1 Voltaic Key
1 Expedition Map
1 Pithing Needle

Ramp
3 Gilded Lotus
3 Darksteel Ingot
2 Lotus Bloom

Other spells
3 Galvanic Blast

Land
4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Steam Vents
4 Snow-Covered Island
4 Snow-Covered Mountain
3 Inventors' Fair
2 Island
1 Academy Ruins
[/deck]

I finally discovered a mana base that can replace my signature Tolarian Academy + Artifact Lands ramp in Modern. I use Lotus Bloom to help cast a Gilded Lotus and then use Voltaic Key on it. [card]Inventors' Fair[/card] helps getting G. Lotus, while Trinket Mage can help get the other parts, and he can even get a Fair via Expedition Map.

I might make room for the fourth Master Transmuter as she proved to be quite useful to get Mycosynth Lattice out(eds.: done), and she can also get a Gilded Lotus in exchange for a tapped Darksteel Citadel.

That's how I won the game. My opponent milled me out and, with both Hellkite and Lattice in hand, I used Academy Ruins to put the Swiftfoot Boots on my library at the end of their turn. I was able to draw it, reaching 0 cards in library again. I used Master Transmuter to put Mycosynth Lattice in play and still had enough mana to cast the dragon and equip it. Haste, attack, steal all their stuff. My opponent conceded, but even if they hadn't, I already had 20+ artifacts and would have won with the dragon's ability before having to draw from my empty library.
