I called Xenphire an asshole. Apparently that was one of the lines one does not cross... so peculiar, here we are free, but they seem to thrive on passive aggression.

Strange. I just had a conversation with a guy; he says he went to one of those roadside farmer's markets, bought some sweet peas, and upon eating them discovered they were super-sweet. So he goes back to the stand where he got them and asked the lady running it how she got them so sweet, and she tells him she adds actual sugar to the soil. On the surface the idea sounds brilliant, but with further reflection the woman's motivations are mystifying; you wouldn't think the time and additional cost of the sugar could possibly justify it just to sell them at a roadside stand for $4 a pound.

She likely just sprays the ground with sugar water. And the motivations aren't all that mysterious. Good product gets hype, and I'd say her product is doing the
job well. Someone is talking about an old lady's sweet peas on a magic forum, after all.

99% sure that will only cause you to grow mold, instead of sweeter peas.

They're probably some sort of X-Men peas.

Sugar water is a known remedy for attracting bees and killing off roundworms. It's not a far-fetched idea to do it to try to sweeten your peas.

It will attract all kinds of things, including bees and ants. But I can't think of any way that it would make peas sweeter. It's not like peas have any difficulty making sugar of their own. If they did, they'd just grow more leaves.

Perhaps the sugar water just coats the peas, giving them more protection from the elements and providing a stronger flavor thuswise.

Mafia is frustrating, though. I get annoyed when people don't take it seriously. And most people at some point start to experience fatigue, and then they stop posting. And scum hunting gets too hard. And the tunneling. The confirmation bias. I want to like Mafia, but I feel such love and hate for it.

Nah. In order to coat the peas like that, she'd need to spray a lot[/], and you'd be able to see it. And it would be crunchy.

Also, peas come inside their own little green kevlar vest. Why would they need extra protection?
