Just reminds me a lot of this:Naturally, the liberal media here will refer to them as "teens" instead of the more fitting "low class hood punks not worth the carbon they're printed on".

The US doesn't want to make Informed Real People.
Bored Idiot Sheeple are much easier to control (there's already an ongoing political phenomena here where the average voting-age citizen casts ballots diametrically opposed to his own socio-economic interests, or doesn't bother to vote at all).
So we're left with a lot of fragmented, broken human beings. Our private prison industry grows glut, and the systemic issues are left unaddressed. Community outreach and education, especially in the Southern part of the country, is left to private charities (read: Jesus fundamentalism).

It is getting a lot of attention, but less than the election or even an ongoing drug scandal affecting our major sporting code. So it's a big story, but not the biggest; not close. As far as I can recall the PM has not commented on the US, so the comment is probably just been pulled out ofZ, I just read a news article about an Australian baseball player gunned down while on a jog in suburban Oklahoma. Apparently the teenagers who shot him dead simply "had nothing better to do" and wondered what it was like to watch someone die. The article claimed that this story is getting more press in Australia than the upcoming elections, and that the PM has warned Australians against visiting USA. What's the POV from where you are?
proportion.
I'm from Melbourne, Australia's New England equivalent, and even before this the opinion on American gun control and education was extremely low. The prevailing response here has been 'its extremely tragic, but Americans are fucktarded, so what else can you expect?'

Gun control? How is that a gun control issue?
Are people under the impression that these 3 assholes who were determined to kill someone for no reason wouldn't have been able to without access to a gun?

There's a multitude of reasons events like this happen there, and not here. Access to guns is one of them, like it or not. It's really, really hard for me to get a gun, even outside of the city and suburbs. Even long bladed knives are hard to get (you can only get them at licensed retailers AND they record your details). Crimes of the moment are just much harder to pull off here. The issue is obviously more complex - these are poorly educated, disengaged youth after all - but that's also a partial cop-out; America had a disproportionate number of events like this.
Would the kids have had as easy a time killing someone without a gun? Probably not. Say it goes from 90% to 50%; it might not make a difference in any one case, but overall a restriction on access will lower the murder-rate; it did here and it has elsewhere. Maybe these kids would have been determined enough to kill someone anyway (no statements the far are
legal evidence of that however) but many would-be-opportunists are not so dedicated or not so competent as to kill someone with a less effective tool.
It may be that it's too late to ever have effective gun control in the US.
I don't really feel like debating the issue, since it invariably devolves into each sudeboard accusing the other of indoctrination and bias.

I mean, I'm not biased or anything, but I'd imagine killing someone with two to three tons worth of steel would be a hell of a lot easier than using a gun anyway. I'm not big on guns myself, but I think people often blame guns way too quickly. It's easy to blame guns over people since guns aren't going to defend themselves, and we like to believe that we as humans are somehow "better" than the things
happening around us. We're obviously fooling ourselves because that's certainly not true, but alas.

What?
No one I have ever read has said that guns are solely to blame. But we're dealing with the fact that there a lot of fuckwits in America AND those fuckwits have easier access to weapons than fuckwits elsewhere.
Restrictions on access to cars is a seperate issue. Yes, it may be easier to kill someone with a car (just like some people are crappy shots, some people are crappy drivers; then there are all sorts iof factors at play); it's WAY easier to get access to a car. But that misses the point; you can't not address a problem because another bigger problem (guns DO absolutely kill more people than guns ever year) is currently impossible to resolve. That's moronic.

She won't divulge. Basically we've had a very rough relationship since we got married honestly and we've been fighting and I tend to yell and say things I don't mean and she's just not willing to let me try to fix what I've apparently broken. She's just not telling me the depths of her sadness and she won't even let me talk to her face to face about this. She basically just said "I want a divorce" over a motherfucking text message. I can't believe this is really happening to me. I don't understand how she can just end things like this.
Oh, she's talking to her ex now, too.

I'm not catholic (or even christian, for that matter), but it seems to me that your wife didn't really get the point of all the marriage thing.
I mean, with all the bullshit you have to go through in order to marry someone, I'd expect she would at least try to talk things out before asking for a divorce.
Meh, maybe I'm just too old-fashioned.
Also, I don't really know how badly you may have treated her, but I'd accept such a statement via text only if you had the habit of beating her up.

It's not too late to look into getting the marriage annulled, since it's new. No sense giving her the chance to extort you for half your stuff. Also, don't leave the house. Dealing with marriage and family court is an uphill battle as a male, so best to avoid it if possible. Keep any recorded communication brief and civil.
Also, her involvement with an ex is certainly a factor. Don't be scared of turning up the heat on her re. infidelity. The worse you can make her appear legally, the better you'll be.

Kaze if you need someone to talk to let me know. Sucks that this has happened to you. I've been married for five beards and though its definitely had its ups and downs I could never imagine divorcing my wife save an extraordinary circumstance like infidelity. I think some people simply underestimate the kind of work that goes into a marriage. Not to mention that our culture has moved past the viewpoint of it being a lifelong commitment.

Damn, wanted to write a post, but after Kaze's confession it's just too hard to do so. I mean, I can't just say "blah blah card X so cool".
I feel that if you are talking about it here, you want to hear something. I might not be the wisest guy on the earth but all I can say is: remember about your mistakes but move on. Fix yourself, as there probably WERE reasons why she left you. Improve yourself. Get better. You, your spirits, your character. Bite the tongue if that's necessary sometimes. Hide the pride. Just become better person. Find someone better than her. Have a good life. Don't waste your time getting all drunky-drunk and pathetic about her. It's not worth it.
I know it sounds so simple it's even dumb. I believe I can say that as... uhm. One day my doctor told me I'm not gonna have a normal life. It will become circle of pain. Shit will get stronger and stronger, one day I will probably end up
drugged 24h per day. What can I do about THAT? Fucking nothing. What I can do about the rest? Shitload of stuff. Obviously I'm no mr. perfect. I fuck up lots of stuff, I get pathetic from time to time. But still, it's important to remember about the actual goals. Get better, no matter what.
And don't be too light on yourself. You fucked up. I don't know how - but from what you've said, you did something wrong. Even if she forced you to do that. Doesn't matter. Obviously, don't get batshit crazy about these mistakes - but remember about them and just fix'em, so another lady in your life will get "fine piece of Kaze" instead of "guy who didn't learned his lesson".
Ya, I'm finished. If I was untactful, feel free to tell me I'm an idiot.

How long have you guys been together? I know you've only been married for like 3 months, so it would be easy to annul, but I'm also a firm believer of not quitting on something as big as a marriage.
Me and my dad have had several conversations about marriage(he's unmarried, likely to stay that way for another 5 years if not indefinitely and I seriously contemplated marriage exactly once in my young life), and we've come to the conclusion that...it's hard as fuck. Assuming you believe in it as a lifelong commitment, that's a LOT of arguing, a LOT of fights, and a LOT of comprise. Struggle, kids, money, houses, bills, sex, all that shit goes into it and it's hard work keeping all of it together. You obviously have made the plunge and it's looking like she wants out which you may not be able to do anything about.
If you do pull her back in and get past this hurdle, make sure that you and her both know that things
like this will happen again(hopefully not as severely) and you'll both need to be prepared to fight for the sake of your love(or whatever) if you intend to make things worth. If neither side is willing to do that, then it probably is over for the best.
"so another lady in your life will get "fine piece of Kaze" instead of "guy who didn't learned his lesson"
Words to live by. This actually resonated with me.

Kaze, I can't say that I know what it's like to go through what you're going through, but I can sincerely say that I feel for you, and so does the rest of the clan. I don't have any advice to give on this subject, but the many others in the Fires of Salvation do, and it seems pretty good. Listen to what they have to say, take it to heart, and apply it.

Access to guns make it a lot easier to kill people. If you fly into a rage and don't have a gun, you beat someone senseless and they go to the hospital. America's gun laws are backward. I couldn't believe how easy it was to acquire firearms with no checks etc. when I was there last summer. I could also drive wherever I wanted with a van full of assault rifles. We went to a range full of cops and no one batted and eyelash. It was surreal.

Women... Hang in there man.She won't divulge.

Freedom isn't free.

redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Great guy to have around? Hell yes.
I love the D...
