I've always heard that women with a bad relationship with their families are evil... finally I know why. Thank you, redthirst!
I also agree with RedNihilist. Red people are generally right. Kaze, I know it might be tough now - but you really should get some lawyer's advice on this shit. It's gonna probably hurt, but there's a chance you can recover at least part of stuff that bitch stole from you.

"But it's hard!" - you will say. And that's why I'm gonna tell you a story. A gruesome, polish story obviously.
My grandpa had a bone cancer. We decided that instead of leaving him in a hospital, we'll keep him at home. Polish hospitals are not the best ones you could ever imagine... and well, that was good call. While doctor said "he has maximum of one month", he lived for a next year. Thanks to his contacts, my father got him morphine so he wouldn't feel the pain. Everything was fine.
Until grandpa
actually died. You know how people die during a bone cancer. They start to vomit and shit everything. I shouldn't probably say stuff like that, but that's what they actually do. My mother and grandma just started panicking. They were praying to god, screaming.
And then my father with this completely cold voice told me to help him to get grandpa's body into bathtub. To clean him up.
For a moment I was feeling something similar to your feelings (probably). It was just too early. I've had a personal tragedy few seconds ago, and now he tells me to lift the corpses and wash them.
But you know what? If we'd leave corpses like that - they'd get stiff. They'd get stiff and to pull my poor grandpa's body we'd have to break his arms and legs.

Moral of the story except of fact that polish people are creepy and can't behave? Get over yourself and act before it's too late. Nobody wants to break arms and legs, not to mention loosing everything - right?

PS. My father is not a psychopath. He worked as
a Fireman for around 25 years. The part when he's a psychopath was when he showed me photos of car accidents to warn me about driving too fast. When I was 10. I'm still shaky about driving cars.

I've been in this weird mood to play really fun/bad janky decks that are spinoffs of real competitive lists. I did Naya Burst on FNM with Boros Charm ranger's guile, GCR, rancor etc, now I'm moving onto a GRUUL SMASH version:

[deck]Fuck it, living the dream[/deck]

Silverheart soulbound with Hound. Just had to do it before rotation ;D

I don't know how I feel about Scavenging ooze in this deck, and if itd be better as another 2 elves for more consistent ramping or 2 mortars or something.

Its a pretty all-in deck, but
scavenging ooze can just come down off a topdeck and take over a game so its hard to cut it.

Also Volcanic Strength is worth considering over gruul charm for getting through creature stalls. I do like that it does work in the aristocrat match-up though

Looks fun. If you're gonna go in, you might as well go hard.

Also, unfortunately Johnny scrubbed out of the GP and solemn had a disappointing day 2, but on the plus side, it looks like my buddy nicolo is playing his win and in for day 2 in Oakland at X-2. He made day 2 in Vegas so I'm kind of exited.

Replace Wardriver with more Avalanchers. Fetches aren't necessary, but 1-2 Caverns are. Lastly, I'd probably cut the Commands for Bolt, simply because killing a DRS early is too good.

Also, more Blood Moon in the board.
Why do you suggest cards I don't have! :gonk:

Seriously, the Wardrivers are stand-ins for the Avalanchers 3-4 that I currently don't have. I've thought about Goblin Kings instead, but I don't know, I have enough 3cc cards already. You're probably right about those fetches. I thought about the thining aspect and while it has a very small effect, it's still something. But perhaps it's not enough for the life loss and the fact that
they give more fodder to the opponent's DRSs. But maybe if I drop the Krenko's Command and put in Searing Blaze instead of Lightning Bolts? But perhaps plain Bolts are better. Caverns would be nice, but I currently have none. I'm keeping an eye on their value though, looks like they're starting to drop a bit.

Blood Moons...yeah if I had more than 2 they would be in the SB. I just have to manage for now. And if I add Bolts/Searing Blazes to the maindeck, I'm thinking of removing the Arc Trails for a couple of Goblin Assaults.

I've been goldfishing the deck a bit, and omg, it's very consistent in it's turn 3-4 kills. Won't be as fast in real games, but still.

Cruel Control or BW tokens? I love both decks and don't know which I should work towards investing in. Probably the later because it's cheaper and jund like in nature(never gonna have terrible matchups cause you're midrange, disruptive, and aggressive).

Oh, and playing white per the usual gives you the best sideboard options.

I'll be playing the Frownyards at my LGS tonight as well. Hope I have as much success.

I've been playing the deck online as well. It's hilarious watching people ragequit after turn four when they figure out what you're on.

It's funny that UB has it's own nutdraws, multiple counters / removal into Drownyard is hilarious.

Or turn 4 Drownyard in any control mirror. Hilarious.

A guy at my LGS plays a Frownyard-based Esper Control since february or so, and he's become quite efficient.
He autowins against Hexproof decks, but does suffer other control matches, as his deck is strongly set for aggro matchups.

I tried to play a Grixis Control after Dragon's Maze (UBr for Rakdos Return, Slaughter Games and Turn // Burn), but while I found myself in a pretty good position against other control decks, I really couldn't survive red based aggro / token decks / BUG aggro.
How does UB Control manage? Is Ratchet Bomb the only sweeper effect you're boarding?
I've tried Mutilate in the past but it just doesn't appear to be a viable solution in a multicolored deck.

I'd really like to see some streaming of some good player in order to learn something ^_^

You just play a million 1-for-1s then use Think Twice, Augur and Alchemy to get ahead; your win-condition is ultra-compact so you're ridiculously answer dense; this alleviates the need for wraths somewhat.

swinging from 16-24 in a single turn really just never gets old. Rancor on an an elf (or anything) and domri's -2 is pretty nice removal too.

UB is insane, its the scariest control deck to face IMO. We built my friend a UB deck before LSV and my god is it too good.

Turns out you don't need sphinx's if doom blade warped physique tragic slip stops you from getting low in the first place.

And the counters. My god the counters.

UW is frustrating as fuckall, but they just get runover sometimes too.

I'd rather play UB then other control deck because the only card I hate losing to is azorius.

Also my buddy made day 2 of GP Oakland including beating Kibler 2-1

2 months?

You'll either have bagged another one or two or be real ready to.

I'd love to go, Alex, but I'm not free this weekend - next weekend I could, but that's hardly going to do any good.
No worries, I intend on scrubbing out anyway. I'm playing Bg control.
Would be great if you could post a decklist and event report in the primer! Good luck!
Well, I posted a list but I get the feeling like you
guys aren't going to like it very much. It's not very Bg, it's Bgw, and it's, well...not very green nor white.

He faltered. He either 1-2'd or 0'3d his last pod when he needed to 2-0-1 or better. He also admitted on Facebook to raredrafting a garruk over an archaemoncer I assume in not pack 1 or 2. Still, he had a very nice run.

Why wouldn't I like it? It has Mutilate, Thragtusk, and Desecration Demon plus removal. It's a Rock deck. And it's creative and you put up a good result with it. I think it's a great contribution to the thread as it helps with additional options in case people start to meta against the norrmal list.

1) Buddy finished 11-4, good enough for 63'd place. Squeaking into that money.

2) LGS is going to start running 8 man single elimination win a boxes on Saturdays. Value.

3) While I think Cruel Control is the funnest deck in modern(and probably most formats) ever, I think I'm hoping on that BW tokens train. In a search to expand my range as a player I decided to revisit the token deck as I fooled around with it 6-8 months ago or so and was pretty bad with it. Having approached the deck through fresh eyes, it's actually a deck I like A LOT now. There's tons of play to it, the sideboard is amazing, you don't have any really bad matchups(besides boggles maybe), and you can just dominate creature decks wit certain draws. Activating windbrusk heights midcombat and throwing out an anthem, a token maker, or zealous persecution on certain boards is just filthy.

It's pretty rare I'll play a stock list of anything, there's a lot of cards in the format that people don't play with/against, and you can really fuck with people if you are the one playing those cards. I had SO MANY "gotcha" moments with Undying Evil you wouldn't even believe me if I told you.

Here are some things you can expect from Theros:

A 3/3 with three abilities that uses fate counters
Multiple cards with the word “nongorgon”
A high-profile cycle of legendary permanents that are not creatures or lands
A rare card with five words of rules text in which one of the words is “planeswalker”
An artifact creature that appears to be a big horse made out of wood
A 5/5 giant snake that can be cast for
A multicolor Minotaur lord
A card that could have been in Modern Masters (Do we FINALLY get Thoughseize?)
A giant that brings fire to humans
A creature with a saboteur ability (it has an effect if the creature deals combat damage to an opponent) which is one of the Power Nine

Here are a few names of cards you will see:

Anger of the Gods
Chained to the Rocks
Lost
in a Labyrinth
Rescue from the Underworld
Underworld Cereberus
Witch’s Eye

Finally, here are some of the creatures you’re going to see (note that not all of these are creature types and is only a partial list):

I like the top-down design philosophy Magic has going for it these days. That's what makes Innistrad and Dark Ascension two of my favorite sets: the feel and flavor is very well done. Too bad Avacyn Restored failed so miserably at that. Let's take everything you liked about the previous two and throw it all out the window.

And the miracle mechanic.

Photo and I got together on Saturday to play some games. I threw together the following R/b midrange list. I mainly wanted Dreadbore because of its "kill everything" utility. I threw Duress into the board to get rid of enchantments, and I wanted Exava as a hasty beater that could survive most combats.

It performed quite well, especially against creature-based decks. Kill everything while spamming tokens to where I could start dropping bigger threats. It struggled against B/W control since I couldn't keep any threats on the board long enough. Blind Obedience hurt a lot; creatures coming in tapped and extort triggers kept him going long enough to land Obzedat, which I couldn't answer.

[deck]
Creatures:16
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Hellrider

Spells:21
1 Devil's Play
4 Pillar of Flame
2 Shock
3 Dreadbore
1 Runechanter's Pike
4 Searing Spear
3 Brimstone Volley
3
Chandra, Pyromaster

Lands:23
4 Blood Crypt
4 Dragonskull Summit
12 Mountain
3 Mutavault

Sideboard:15
2 Duress
4 Ash Zealot
2 Doom Blade
3 Mizzium Mortars
4 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch
[/deck]

I have some changes in mind, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

I kind of like it, but I'm not sure Boros Reckoner is where you want to be. I feel like Ash Zealot would be better there since you have so many spells to deal with your aggro and midrange matchups anyway, making Boros Reckoner not as necessary as he would normally be in those matchups. I also think the one-of Pike is a winmore.
