Instant speed draw 3 for 4 isn't the worst, it might be playable.

If you get three cards from it, then your good/wanted cards were in the two card pile. If the piles are equal in power, you'll get the two card pile. So maybe slightly better than Inspiration. I think the card is a trap.

FoF was awesome as your opponent was the one with the harsh decision while you had it easy.
Steam Augury is crap as you're the one burdened with harsh decision, opponent has it easy.

This Larry94...
When I drink a lot - more than 0.7 of vodka, I tend to get terrible hangover next morning. Okay, I usually do, but when I'm drinking that much hangover is just fucking nightmare. But this nigtmare ends when I shit for the first time next day. We call it Hangover-Crap. The process lasts for a friggin hour, and it's so disgusting you need to shower after that. Shit you're making stinks with the power of thousands of shits. But any effects of hangovers are gone. Basically, this shit is cumulation of everything toxic and evil from your body formed into the most disgusting shit you'd ever see.
If MTGSalvation would have an asshole - Larry94 would be it's Hangover-Crap.

Tell me what the piles are and then you will see that Inspiration is much better.

[deck]CREATURES - 16
3 Nightveil Specter
3 Lifebane Zombie
4 Omenspeaker
3 Duskmantle Seer
3 Erebos

INSTANTS - 13
3 Far // Away
3 Doom Blade
3 Devour Flesh/Warped Physique ?
4 Dimir Charm
SORCERIES - 4
4 Thoughtseize

PLANESWALKERS - 3
3 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver

LANDS - 24
4 Watery Grave
10 swamp
10 island
SIDEBOARD
4 Tidebinder Mage
4 Duress
2 Gainsay
3 Psychic Strike
2 Reap Intellect[/deck]

For sure I'm gonna love the first weeks of Theros. You know, all of those idiots playing Esper Control (sometimes even UB Control) with shitload of Shocklands and Toughtseizes.
You play T1 Shockland into Toughtseize. And then you are taking away either my Ghor-Clan Rampager or let's say... Gore-House Chainwalker.
When my card
gets thrown into GY, it's text suddenly changes.
Look at it. Look at it you wannabe-control-player.

Ghor-Clan Rampager 0
Opponent pays B, discards a card and is dealt 4 damage.

That's some next-level Vexing Devil shit.
Maindeck Toughtseizes are going to be fun.

Depends on the what's in the piles and the boardstate/matchup. There's some possibility to bluff with a 4-1 split, I think. But I still think it's not that good.

Edit: It's not that you can't get value out it, it's just that it's unreliable. Control decks don't want unreliable. Fact or Fiction is great because you control what you get. With Steam Augury the opponent is in control.

I don't really know.
Every card that involves interactive choices by the opponent can be either the new Fact or Fiction or a trap.
I seriously doubt that Steam Augury can fall in the former category, but in a shell of low-costed, interchargeable shell where you rely more on card advantage rather than finding a specific card it may find its uses.
I'm not amazed, though.

It's another random decklist from Sally. It's just... people seem to go all like "OH GOD TOUGHTSEIZE IS AMAZING" forgetting about certain situations when it's not. It actually strikes me as SB-only card unless meta will develop into midrange/controls all the way (but I doubt it).

It's maindeckable, but that's not a good deck lol. It's definitely maindeckable, the power level of the card is very high. Not every deck wants it of course.

I´d love to so some development on the midrange Boros deck zem. In that vein perhaps Steam Augur is a possible fit in midrange (because of the multi threat nature) than Control (which wants are easier to predict). Enter the bluffing game of 1-4.

I think you just want it as an instant speed draw 3; which is very good for 4 mana. Resources are resources.

Your probably getting 2 good cards or three cards, a UR control deck is probably fine with either.

With FoF, the split usually ends up being 'best card & worst two / two in the middle'. Most of the time, either pile is enough to bring you ahead in the game. If you reveal at least three good cards, chances are that you're going to win the game, unless you're already one turn from losing at the time you cast it, as they'll never give you the card that might save you for a turn. If you reveal complete shit, it saves you from five awful draw steps. I agree with zem: resources are resources.

I'm still not convinced about Steam Augury, but I don't mind being wrong about it when it's featured in a GP top 8 deck and is a $10+ rare.

Anyway, did anyone play with Murmurs from Beyond during Kamigawa-block? If so, was it any good? I have no memory of that card being played at all, but I wasn't following the meta game that closely then. It's quite similar, but doesn't dig that deep.

So I just came back from Sally and it turns out that Larry is so incredibly wrong that Kamahl of all people had to jump in the thread to tell him what a fucktard he is for arguing with us about Rx Aggro and a Standard mod sent me a thank you PM for telling his ass off as nicely as we did.

Best part is a tie between Larry trying to tell zeman that he was banned from the Competitive forums for building shitty lists or Yarpus casually strolling in, headshotting Larry, dropping the mic and rolling out.

Playing against people on Cockatrice is the worst way of testing your deck. To be honest I tend to either play against myself and favorizing opposing deck, or just goldfishing and emulating usual drops in certain matchups. I clear the field T4. I put 3/3 T2.

Every time I play an 8-man with UB control I play BG and my opponent always has Liliana. Game three he has two. FML. Staying in two-mans. My success there is so high.
