I thought of quite a good potential combo for BotG last night:

Spirit of the Labyrinth + Chandra = you draw 2 cards a turn, opponent can only draw 1 card per turn unless they have a Chandra/Domri/Jace (so basically hoses Sphinx, Underworld connections, Read the Bones, Divination etc).

Play 4 Boros Charms to keep Spirit safe (and they can't even exile it with Last Breath as it's 3 power). Massive card advantage, would fit quite nicely with a controlly burn deck as you want the game to go long so your CA gets you there.

Thoughts on the above pile:
I'm having issues with the SB right now, so they may change in the future video sets.

A few more things:
1) @Toddington: It was meant to be a 2/1 split with chandra not 3/1 - it was a typo

2) @poppa_f: Rakdos Cackler is the best 1-drop in the game for our colours, if you want Soldiers you can cut Drinkers for them but they'll almost never be a t1 play unles your willing to ruin the Manabase in the same level as the RB builds (it can
work it'll just kill you every now and again).
3) @Lazerburn: I have the video on a scheduled timer now, so they'll always upload on that "time" which also happens to be the time while I'm still asleep.

For MOCS or Champion it will be 4x Chains + (either 1x Mortar or 1x Chandra) for MTGO DE or SE we can't avoid red so I had to make room for Mortars too deal with SBD.

In my final attempts to be happy with my 75 before BotG hits here is what I'm currently testing

After recovering from my initial shock I have
followed MDU's lead,again

and dropped FDS

The more I consider it the more sensible this seems - they're good against Bx but I think you really need 4 here (and I keep losing to them anyway) and Control (which I find very favourable) and bad against MonoU, Esper Aggro, RW Devo, GR Monsters, UW and random Aggro. It also allows for a lot more SB flexibility.

My current SB plan is -

Vs Mono Black - 20% of MTGO meta

VS Mono U - 12% of MTGO meta

Vs Esper MidRange - 9% of MTGO meta

VS R/x Devo - 9% of MTGO meta

Vs GW - 6% of MTGO meta

VS UW - 5% of MTGO meta

Vs Esper Control - 3% of MTGO meta

VS G/x Devo/Monsters - 3% of MTGO meta

Had a terrifying line up during my SE G1: Esper Aggro, G2 Ux Devotion and G3 Gr Devotion which I proceeded to 3-0.

Please Note: I do believe once BNG releases most Rw will be very strong, but it will lean more on the fancy burn spells like charm and
helix to close out games.

This is how things will work for the rest for this year:
I'll only be uploading videos on Weekdays because some rather huge changes occurred in my life which alters how I can treat my time, once things settle down everything will return to normal again - but for now only releasing videos on the week end buys me buffer time for content.

That said this marks my video quota for this week

(I'll need 6 more wins before the 29th so I can play in MOCS2 Final, I also have the feeling I may get huge pass in MOCS1 final since I'll assumed the grinder have already spend the QPs in Cube Sealed earlier farming Promo cards

)

I just ran this deck tonight and went 2-2, kept some slow hands that pretty much lost me the game when I used my burn on creatures instead of face.
I felt like if I played the 2 matches that I lost a little differently, I probably would've won (1-2 both games, won game 1 lost 2/3), they were against bgr and gw.. if I used all my burn on the gw's face I would've won. bgr he topdecked rakdos' return that took my assemble away when I was 1 land short and he devour fleshed his own demon that stabilized him, but I scryed twice and I kept a magma jet and lightning strike that slowed me down.

but overall, I enjoy this deck a lot. I may stick with this deck until btg comes into play, may switch over to dega midrange or something.. we'll see.

just wondering though, do you have any matches where you play burn on your youtube?

I am yearning for more Boros Charms in the deck and thinking that 3 Anger might be enough, which amazes me as I love the card

I'm under the impression that 4x Angers and 4x SC is a bit much... so tossing another SBD or Boros charm in the side is something I'm thinking about as well, though I'll keep playing dmad422's build as it is for now.

I do this very often, going by the math with 25 lands the odds of seeing the 2nd land is over 90% - only issue is that magic isn't math so yeah... greed FTW!!

Is it just me, or does he come across as a douche on the level of Todd Anderson? I just about stopped reading when he blamed his wife for the fact that he had a cold...we're in the midst of one of the worst respiratory illness seasons in years and this guy feels the need to put down the person who puts up with his hobby because a virus found him and he's positive that it came from her. I wished that I had stopped reading when he started rubbing opponent's faces in their losses...bad form.

The RW token list is good, I think pedros went 4-4 during the championship with it - its good in meta where Aggro and Midrange dominate (I'm under the impressive that Bx Devotion and Control isn't a great MU though).

EDIT: I got another 3-0 with the Burn list, I can definitely say the 4th Anger needs to change into something else (no idea what that something else is though). I do miss Ash and the Bx Devotion game is tighter then I like.

In Burn? Or in Big Boros? Either way, hardly ever

Esper Aggro maybe as it deals with Ghost Dad and Whip which is huge; until they find a DSphere

Might allow you to squeeze in a few more damage sometimes too. Pedros suggested it to me for this match up a few days ago and I mentioned it on here a few posts back. I decided that Glare was a better all-round
choice.

Against the decks where it could do work - I'm thinking anything with hasted Monsters so GR, the Mirror, BR Aggro, RW Devo with Hammer in play - I think there are better cards (both in effect and in breadth of application) available.

Also we might want to move the Burn discussion to the Burn thread

Barring any last minute weirdness I'll be running ~74/75 of LazerBurns most recent list at GP Vancouver. I was running something super similar anyways, with 3 YP instead of an Ash Zealot, 1 Chains and 1 FotF. However, at a paper event I like running 4 Chains, and YP though good isn't quite the same as in the PyroRed list; probably will only really miss him in the MonoU matchup. My sideboard will have a Wear//Tear in place of 1 Assemble the Legion. Hoping for some good hands this weekend, I'll post some results up afterwards.

@MDU - Love the name "Boros Something"

It's nearly back at Big Boros, only 4 cards diff in the MD. I like Anger for the Esper Aggro match up (and MonoU hence only 1 LB ?) I'm not sure about 4 Skull, 3 always seems enough, I'd rather have another Charm for the extra damage. The 4th Reckoner over the 4th Mortar seems reasonable though I'm not sure it's right, leaves you weaker to MonoU ? No room for Glare either

I think I prefer the Boros Pile, though I'm going to see if I can work Anger in for the Esper match up - no Whip food seems good

Geh! the hype machine is going strong for this one, the little bugger won't help the control or black MU.

Making matter worst unlike YP he is a 1/1 which means he won't trade with anything on his own, IMHO he a great SB card (unless Wx and Gx aggro picks up, I can't really see him doing well in the MD (though we'll see a few people try during the early stages of BNG release)).

Yeah the fact that he deals the damage means you get blown out if he's removed while the trigger's on the stack, so probably doesn't work against black so well.
The synergy with cards like searing blood is pretty amazing though (RR instant: deal 5 damage to target creature and 3 to target player). Would make Boros charm more important as doubles up as protecting the satyr or doing 4 damage + 4 damage.

Well... after going 2-1 with dmad422's Boros Burn list (losing to a fellow aussie playing Gu) I put together my Boros Pile again except I used Pedro's tech Chandra's Outrage over my 3rd Chandra in the SB and proceeded to go 3-0 beating UB Control, Esper Midrange and Boros Token.

It was great

(just need 3 more 3-0 and 1 more 2-1 till I have enough QP for MOCS2: Final) In regards too BnG I like Chapin's Bx Aggro list (though his extort parasites seem odd...) I swear its just Herald of Torment which suddenly made the deck legit. For the Boros side of the fence, it doesn't seem like the MD is going to look much different though BnG has giving as plenty of new shiny SB cards

I like it because it lets me burn over the top vs Esper Aggro and Rw/Naya Tokens (yeah Tokens is getting more play online now... super fun times) but it kinda make Bx Devotion harder then it should be. . . but I've gotten use to playing out long grindy games with Bx Devotion now so it fine for me.

Ok, I did some tweaking and worked Anger into the SB for the Esper Aggro match up and I've dropped Skullcrack altogether for the first time all season. Will it work? Well there's only one way to find out

I don't like the 3rd WLH in the mono U matchup, I have found that I will have one in hand and they will have a familiar out. To me it's risky to have 3 high cmc cost spell in vs them. Everything else looks good.

I would swap the three Boros Charm and one Helix for four Skullcrack in the board. You don't really need Charm in this deck and Skullcrack is money vs mono black and UW. It's also easier to cast.

So does Pyroclasm but that's not legal either

I will obviously be considering BotG once it rotates in, but that's not for 3 weeks on MTGO

I know what you mean about the Helix though, the Familiar can be VERY annoying. I might try 2 Anger

Yeah I know its 3 weeks off! So otherwise I think the list is good... I could see cutting skullcrack, often when I face MBC they are only going to Gary me for 2-4, I like the BC. An early game BC to make creatures Indestructible is pretty much game winning. I won a match at the PTQ by ultimate chandra into Boros Charm.

The thing that shys me away from this list is the Mono U matchup... it is such an uphill battle. Blowing a LS on a Familiar is disheartening, but you cant let that shit just sit out there.

@Lazerburn: Nice stuff Lazer, any chance you can get 15 QP before the 29th? MOCS2 Prelims is for alt art Tropical Island which should sell for 100+ over the months

@Purp: your overeating, Rw runs Anger, Fat Creatures, Warleader Helix and a ton of spot removal (spot removal, Sweepers, Large Creatures and Lifegain - just like future Bx Devotion) but they arn't auto-loses.
