The bass, the rock, the mic, the treble.

I like my coffee black just like my metal.

Bad Brains and Minor Threat are about the only bands in there I really like. Punk isn't my thing. Which is odd since I like both Hardcore and Ska which are basically satellite genres.
What kind of hardcore do you listen to?

The first part is mostly "Hey, holy shit! Even I can win with this deck!"

The second part is "If you take the cards the deck is losing and replace them with other cards at the same cc, you can build basically the same deck with no regard for any meta considerations - maybe."

He closes off by saying no Thragtusk in the coming format is probably pretty good for RDW.

Thanks guy.

Still... it's got videos and I never get tired of watching RDW run over other decks.

I hate watching people like him talk about Red decks. It's almost as annoying as the guys at my venue raving about Vexing Devil.

I know that they are both classified as "punk", but I have a hard time resolving The Ramones and Black Flag in the same head space. BF is definitive of hardcore punk--harder than I ever cared for--and the Ramones...I mean, they did "Rock and Roll High School" (the movie), for God's sake. I like The Ramones for their more tongue-in-cheek slacker attitudes...they weren't angry, just bored and creative.

I listened to my share of Misfits as well, but I'm more partial to Husker Du and The Strokes. I still have some Suicidal Tendencies and TSOL cassettes boxed up around here somewhere...too funny.

Just watched the "Jund Control" video and the deck and opponent were both absolutely terrible.

I'm kinda glad Frank posted that article; our Rx midrange builds will destroy all the netdeckers that copy his deck

Lol he starts by saying he doesn't play rdw then goes and uses words like us and ours as if hes some rdw prodigy thats been playing all along.

And watching the Selesnya Midrange video - looks like his opponent kept a 1 land hand game 1...

Notice I didn't say that it was a good article.

It was an okay read, I just don't respect the opinion of someone who posts up videos to show how strong a deck is when it's obvious they sandbagged some sub-par opponents.

Game one against Naya Midrange - Opponent shocks himself down to burn range before tapping out (actually no, he only used 4 out of his 5 mana, so he shocked himself for nothing) to play creatures that can't block the only creature on the board instead of playing Ooze and gaining life while making it large enough to swing for lethal.

by redthirst
Game 2: Naya Midrange has Reckoner + Domri with 4 Loyalty against BTE, BTE, Firefist, YP, Elemental.

Reckoner fights Firefist, does the 2 damage to opponent(?), then attacks into Elemental token and does the 1 damage to opponent.

This is physically painful to watch.

Those comments... :no2:

"Bad satyr is bad. 1 more power than bellows lizard and waaaaaaaay more downside."

It's times like this that I wish I had Facebook so I could post something like: "Yeah, just like Goblin Guide is trash! +1 P/T Raging Goblin with waaaaaaay more downside. No thanks, amirite?"

Hmmm an Opti Aggro brew thought experiment based on the Optimal Aggro article by the better Frank...very very ugly very rough.

[deck=I just met you, and this is crazy, here's my card list, Aggro Maybe?]
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Dryad Militant
4 Soldier of the Pantheon

4 Daring Skyjek
4 Gore-house Chainwalker
4 Truefire Paladin
3 Wojek Halberdiers

4 Lightning Strike
4 Boros Charm
3 Skullcrack
2 Flames of the Firebrand

4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
6 Mountain
4 Plains
[/deck]

Not including BTE or AZ, but finding 2 drops that can generate as close to 4 power as possible is rough. Manabase is possibly the biggest problem.... Quick napkin brew and I don't know if this deck is even any better at all than AiR. . .

taplands in an aggro deck

can't say I approve =/

by lorddax
Yeah I hate it too. they aren't cliftop retreats and maybe really should just be +2 mountain +2 plains since theres 8 one drops you can play off either color. I was trying to make it so that if you hit double color you would still have possible plays t2. Still hate the shakiness of the mana base and would love to try it as mono colored to get ride of that problem. Don't know if there are enough duders at the slot levels tho...

Posted: Thu Sep 12, 2013 9:59 pm

i mean the option of just running like a 9-9 split of mountains and plains exists, whether the power is worth the consistency trade off is up to you

I'm afraid to answer this question as one person's view of "Hardcore" music never aligns with another and I'm fixing to get punched. o.x

I grew up in the tail end of the Chicago Hardcore scene so stuff that branched off of
Naked Rayguns and stuff like that. I'm also fond of more post-hardcore varieties like Fugazi and Thrice.

Skullcrack is bad and you should feel bad.

I think it is an interesting thought experiment. It would certainly be fun to play with and see if, compared to AiR, the theory holds water. It does seem like it has a higher overall damage output, but is at least a turn slower. Not including BTE seems like a mistake though- even though he isn't a 4 power guy, you do dump another guy onto the field.

My mom got her hair set on fire once at a Ramones concert, though. That sounded pretty badass.
My dad set his hair, eyebrows and stubble on fire trying to barbeque once. It doesn't sound that cool until you realize my father is actually a wizard and cast a fireball targeting himself.

Or fireball, as it were.

Did some testing. Here's an updated list. Needs to push damage all the time when you can.

[deck=OptiAggro?]
3 Dryad Militant
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Firebreather Satyr
4 Soldier of the Partheon
4 Gore-house Chainwalker
4 Daring Skyjek
4 Truefire Paladin
3 Wojek Halberdiers

4 Boros Charm
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike

4 Sacred Foundry
8 Mountain
6 Plains
[/deck]

Needs to swing away as much as possible. Needs some upgrades to possibly getting 4 power on each 2drop. Lots of drops get walled by Soldier which will probably be showing up in almost every deck that can run W.

Legion's Initiative? Or is that too slow? It may just not pump enough of your dudes to get there. Spear, maybe?
