Id tried to get some from pandy when they were like 50 but hes a bitch.

Related to skyscrapers, theres a tower here called fountainblue that has been sitting almost finished since b of a pulled funding from it when the housing market collapsed. Over $3b and its too expensive to tear down so it just sits there unused.

.I mean, checkbox has a point, people who cry "bubble" are usually the beardiest of the bunch of necks, but I was precisely thinking about that vampire onslaught event deck.

Take this scenario: The vampire onslaught event deck was mass produced and released in August 2011 (a little more than 2.5 years ago), and everyone and their dog had access to it for 25$

Lets simplify the math and just assume that its worth 75$ and it was released 3 years ago. This means there is a 200% return of investment for whoever bought it 3 years ago, or 66% return per year.

Maybe this is one of the most ridiculous examples, but you can easily make the math for other mtg staples, boosters, etc.. (zendikar boosters are worth much more, innistrad boosters are increasing too), so you can easily get 30% return per year on a lot of mtg stuff.

The thing is that if we were talking about stuff like the housing market or stocks, this
kind of return rates (30%+) would immediately qualify as a bubble.

So either it is a bubble, or it is just that the game is getting more popular, but still it cannot grow at this rate ad-aeternam, so either this busts (its a bubble) or it stabilizes to more reasonable rates for increasing value (something like 5% per year).

It's not like Hasbro has the best track record on keeping its secondary market inflation from destabilizing. We're probably all screwed.

@Rezzy: while this might be cold comfort, but I generally don't account for market spikes like this crap when doing a trade where I blatantly dropped the ball; if my brother does manage to get me the information I need to continue before I club him to death with a snow shovel, I will be ignoring price spikes that happened since.

To be fair, once you get, say ur/x twin, you have the a good chunk of the manabase for several other decks, more so of its the rug build

That said, they need to do something about the price of fetches, I don't see there premier non rotating constructed format doing as well as they want it to with the price being that high.

Goyfs they can prolly leave alone (it arguably isn't as relevant as it is in legacy)

All I ever really collected was lands when I played magic and thats why I'll be making a dive into modern with my playsets of shocks, duels, searchlands and other goodies. Zendikar searches were about $18-20 back in the day still
