I would absolutely play green if I could run Satyr Hedonist with a Whore-house Chainwalker. ;-)

I guess it won't hurt to use Stomping Ground to allow you to land the Hedonist more consistently in turn 2.

All this talk, and I find it sad that Rubblebelt Raiders never makes in it any deck due to it being plain in comparison ((What is that? A 4/5 for four in Red?&
quot;). And when I thought a rotation will help her.

I'm likely to drop out of everything but the occasional sanctioned Modern tournament soon.
So you'll just be a bitter dude who makes snide posts and doesn't actually play M:tG?

Well... you're certainly on the right site for that.

I have literally spent ever study hall period this week (gotta love 5 day study hall) playing through Demon Days. I got the album on Sunday, and it is one of the best composed records I've ever heard. Up there with Green Day's American Idiot[/i:

Clearly you aren't listening to the right music if Green Day's American Idiot is up there above something like, say, this.

Again, the sound is broken on my laptop, so I cannot hear what the music sounds like. However, I will defend American Idiot by saying that it won Rock Album of the Decade for '00-'10, and for a good reason. While it may not have the very best songs on it, as an album, it comes together very well. These days, records, like Magic decks, are more about just generally good stuff and less about theme. American Idiot has some
very prominent themes and recurring symbols.

If you're in the mood for Green Day, the album is the best thing on earth. If not, you often get through a song, think "this is emo crap," and turn it off.

When I'm in the mood for Green Day I am almost always immediately drawn to Dookie. I don't remember Green Day as "this is emo crap," I remember them as one of the original mainstream punk rock bands.

Speaking of "original mainstream <x genre band>," what are some other iconic ones? For ska I can only really think of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and No Doubt. Punk immediately makes me think of Misfits, Green Day, Sex Pistols, Minor Threat, Pennywise, Milencollin, etc...

Hey, it's not my fault this album has the most explosive, ear-fuckingly badass opening 30 seconds ever.

Streetlight Manifesto may not be the greatest ska band of all time, but they are the most well-recorded. They fucking clean
up their sound so much better than any other band I've ever heard.

I can't even imagine how hard it must be to sync their albums considering how many tracks there must be to it. Vocal, brass, bass, drum, lead...and I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of. Plus I believe the brass is split into sax and trumpet so there's a split layer there. Fucking yikes.

tl;dr: Streetlight always leads with some strong-ass recording prowess. Dudes are incredible in the studio.

It's all about the technical skill of the band.

And a good producer.

I actually have Dookie playing on my phone's music player right now. Great stuff. The band really has changed since then, and I agree that I like the stuff from that era better.

Cleaning up mixes is really not difficult. You can make a soundbyte sound like anything with a turn of a knob or a keystroke. That's why any idiot with a macbook can make dubstep.

Tomas Kalnoky produces pretty much everything. Dude writes all of the lyrics, music, and produces the records. He might have no real formal training, but the dude is almost certainly a musician. I just wish he'd...stop trying to sing. Streetlight would be so much better with an actual good vocalist. I mean, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones might have been a pretty mediocre band musically, but Dicky Barrett can fucking sing.

Also yes I am a huge music snob, I really love music and could probably not live without it.

This isn't usually my thing, but it's not bad.

Although, for some reason, some of the tracks give me a strange desire to go play Crazy Taxi.

 I got into sax in middle school band. I quit band in college (because my competitive nature really was too perfect for a professional music career) and because I was pretty mediocre, but meh. It wasn't like "I'm gonna be cool and play this off-center instrument!" My parents just pushed me into being in band as a kid and I had to pick something.

Also there's a lot of guitar in most ska. It's a lot more bass than electric lead though. Bass sounds better behind sax.

If guitar is more your thing and you like that album though, Tomas also does acoustic covers of all of his albums. I listen to this version of the album a lot more since it's much better driving music.
