In honor of the last FNM of the season:
Johnny's Top 10 Annoying Cards that we never have to play against again:
#10)
Cackling Counterpart
T5 Thundermaw
T6 2x Cackling counterpart...╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
# 9)
Craterhoof Behemoth
I'm a twenty and all he's got are a bunch of dorks, I've got this. Oh wait, I'm dead.
#8) [card]Curse of Death's Hold[/card]
Oh, that's a nice Aristocrats deck you've got there... It'd be a shame if one of my sideboard cards shat all over the entire thing...
#7)
Geist of Saint Traft
Let's make a 2/2 hexproof for 3 that makes a 4/4 angel. It'd make sense in G/W, but let's put it in U/W because fuck people who don't like U/W. Oh, and don't fucking print Pyroclasm either.
#6)
Blasphemous Act
I'm at
thirteen and this guy has a fucking reckoner, I better put some more guys out to preserve the life total...wait...oh fuck.
#5)
Terminus
It's a miracle! A sweeper for 1 mana! Tap my plains. Put all your shit on the bottom please. Extend hand.
#4)
Snapcaster Mage
"We clearly didn't think this through" - Wizards R+D
#3)
Restoration Angel
Our market research shows that players like angels. They also like flash. They also like ETB's. There's also a fuckload of ETB's in this set. Let's put them all on one card.
#2)
Thragtusk
R+D1: We need an answer to Delver.
R+D2: We could print a 2/2 flash, reach, protection from blue that can't be countered for 1G.
R+D1: What are you fucking nuts? No, let's make a 5/3 that gains five like when it enters the battlefield and leaves a 3/3 token when it leaves for 4G.
R+D2: What about Restoration Angel?
R+D1: Relax!
No one will figure that out!
#1)
Bonfire of the Damned (actually, entire fucking miracle mechanic)
Turns out I'm better at mindlessly flipping cards than you are. Sign the slip please.

I admit, I don't know much about the person himself, but it's still sad to lose a fire mage. Rest in peace, and my condolences to his family.
Sent a pm to windstrider too.
Last night the wife and I were talking and I decided (with her blessing of course) to go full fledged into MODO since I have a hard time getting out to Magic at the venue on a regular basis and it's the only real hobby I have that I put money into. So tonight I'll be buying tix and grabbing a deck that's fairly rotation proof to play until Theros hits.
Which reminds me - Do we have a clan in mtgo? It'd nice to be able to contact with members for some games/advices.

*snip*
10) Don't really recall it being a major pain. A
Phantasmal Image was a worse offense when it was around.
9) Well yeah, there's days where they got lucky..

At least it's a 5cc enchantment so you can still do enough damage before it hits the board.
7) Right, him. After a few games against Bant enchant, I think I'd bump him to No.5 at the very least.
6) Don't really see that happening a lot either.
5) It's their only solution against a christmas land BTE, so I guess it's even.
4) I'm just sad that they made
Recoup, one of my favorites, look silly.
3 - 2) It's Resto and swagtusk. As
I used to say to a friend, "When you see a Forest in this format, expect a Swagtusk."
1) Haven't gotten totally SOL by it.
Angel of Serenity annoys me more, though.

Situps are overrated. Chest and arms are what get the ladies going.
That being said, it probably helps to not have a gut.

My earliest class was at one p.m.
But my latest class went on till almost midnight, so.

1 early class is why I quit. My first 3 years I scheduled all my classes for after noon, then my last year I had a class that was only offered at 6:30am. My alarm went off at 5:45 and I was like "Nope. Fuck that."
In retrospect, it probably wasn't my very best decision.

Just in case anyone missed this and is heading to prerel events at midnight:
* A permanent that is both an enchantment and another permanent type can be affected by spells or abilities that affect either type. For example, a spell that says “Exile target enchantment” will exile an enchantment creature or an enchantment artifact.
So MD your enchantment removal for all the bestow running around!

The only playable bestow card is Boon Satyr?
Also, there's only one "exile target enchantment" spell. It costs 3 mana and is green sorcery.

All 5 emmisaries are not just playable but very strong, and several others are fine as well. And there are several other cards that destroy enchantments.

Destroy, yes.
Exile, just that one.
Can't find any strong Emissary.

For the prerelease/sealed there will be quite a number of enchantment cards showing up as people either:
A) Try to force heroic
B) Missed the 4:1 mark (4 creatures for every 1 card that requires creatures)
C) Choose the white promo card
D) Build decks around key enchantments, tho gods will remain indestructible.
E) Use bestow creatures to up fill their curves
With Monstrous and Bestow decks will probably play 18 lands due to the late game sinks, I see a fair amount of B and E happening. There 12 bestow creatures at the UC level with each color having at least 2 in CMC areas that their creature pool is a bit light.
Also if you are playing Bestow cards, you will get more value out of Voltroning than dumping them out as a creature, so try to hold them until you can make your own bomb.

You can't find any strong cards in a cycle of hill giants of every color with multiple upsides?

Just saw the thread for the first time today...peace be with you, redbro. I'm sure Michael will be up for a game, but you can bet he's playing Angels.
I have about 50 bazillion things to get done today so that I can sleep before PR tonight...then put in a 20-hour day helping move a marching band ~200 miles each way to compete (no I am NOT driving). Then a few hours sleep and the boy and I are off to Sunday PR.
To all of you hitting releases this weekend, may your pulls be awesome and may the cards fall in your favor. Peace, clansmen.

Disappointing 2-2 at the Extended FNM. First round was against a really new player with a BW M14 deck. He had really bought the card a few days ago and scraped together a deck. I almost lost my first game to it. Really bad start, but I steamrolled over him the next two games. Phew! Second round was against an Australian who had just taken a few decks with him when he came here. He played a Boros deck, with cheap some cheap creatures and some angels as backup. The deck was a bit unfocused, but I was still a bit worried about it. Went 2-0 anyway. So tougher third round, against a RG ramp deck. First game I just played some one drop, followed by Goblin Chieftain and then Krenko, and scoop. Then the troubles started. Got some abysmal starting hands and had to start some serious mulliganing. Lost it. Fourth round wasn't any better, against an Izzet deck (Nivmagus Elemental, Snapcaster, Goblin Guides and Stormkirk Noble,
interesting homebrew really). Anyway, got really lousy starting hands here as well, and lost.
The goblin deck is probably better as a modern deck, and my sideboard could have been better as well. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes with all-or-nothing decks. At least I got one of the random FNM Experiment Ones.

I just came back from midnight pre-release. Built a boros aggro deck and went 3-0 before going home to get some sleep. I opened two hammers of purphoros.
Akroan legionnaire, Anax and Cymede, and wingsteed rider are all super powerful with combat tricks and win games out of nowhere due to this set being so removal-light.
