I have figured out that if everyone else is playing BTE+buddies, i want to be playing Ash Zealot + Young Pyro. The Mono R Mirror is very one sided when you have that creature set up.
She knew you'd come crawling back too.

She's a feisty lil' redhead. Yum yum.

Magic questions:
Is
Dreadbore a good enough reason to splash black into an otherwise mono-red list? My initial thought is yes since there are so many big nasties out there like
Desecration Demon that a strict mono-red list could have difficulties with. And it's just an amazing card overall.
Does anyone else shy away from playing a card simply because you don't like the card for some irrational reason? Mine is
Gore-house Chainwalker. Logically, I see the power of the card, but I don't want to use it. I'd rather play another two-drop even when the Chainwalker would be better like in BTE lists.

I told every one of all of y'all to stick with Ash Zealot!
Yarpus, warm up my horn so that I may toot it.
Also, get the parade ready.

Strider, I would say splashing for Dreadbore depends heavily on how reliably you want to cast Ash Zealot turn 2 (assuming you're playing her due to your previous comment).

Also, I don't like the fact that your girlfriend is "confused" by everything. Good or bad, I'm with my girl and I expect my girl to be with me - not "confused" about how we feel.
Maybe she's just being manipulative.
Maybe she wants him to act.
My guess is that if she wanted to leave him or cheat on him, he wouldn't have been informed.

No. Just board threatens. It's not
particularly good vs. mono red.

Well, I don't recommend putting up with threats of possibly leaving in order to try and force someone to do something either.

I'm in a bit of a bind because I don't like GHC OR Firefiststriker all that much, no haste sucks mang, but I love me some BTE because the body is sexy enough to warrant not having haste and you can BTE+Hammer now that her LM friend is gone...
Wait he's not gone. I've got two standard nights left of 6 damage Turn 2s baby!
Ninja: yeah desecration demon is a lot less good against Mono red without Mutilate to back it up. card always pissed me off, i don't know why. Back to back verdicts were always kinda expected or shrugged, but Mutilates always seem to hurt me deep down... maybe its my love for my creatures.
Fucking blow them up, don't turn them into radioactive swamp freaks

So this is the core of the deck I want to play:
4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Firefist Striker
4 Young Pyromancer
3 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Hammer of Purphorous
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
4 Shock
4 Spark Jolt
18 Mountain
4 Mutavault
2 slots left. I'm tempted by any two of: Annihilating Fire, Flames of the Firebrand, Hammer of Purphorous, basic mountain.

Being manipulative is the surest way to destroy a relationship. It is also a sign that person is not yet ready for a serious commitment. Relationships thrive on open and honest communication. Game playing is the
antithesis of what a good relationship wants and needs.
Far more likely is that she really is confused by what's happening. From her perspective, her boyfriend doesn't have the time for her, which sends all kinds of mixed signals. Then another guy appears and offers a sympathetic view, and she's able to find some of the support she needs from him. Her emotional wires are crossed, and she's having trouble seeing through the static.
Been through it. Couldn't see it for what it was. Got burned pretty badly by it.

Bad idea incoming.
Without Hammer or YP tokens, you're running 16 creatures. Is that enough, when combined with those tokens, to trigger Striker's battalion? You have a falter effect in Chandra if you need it (though often you'd rather "draw" a card), so would
Goblin Shortcutter be better here?

Z, I tested a similar list the other night against a rock deck. I recommend another Chandra and another Hammer. Those were the key cards for me in beating that deck.
I think any deck not going with a full set of Pyromaster and 2 Hammers is making a mistake.

Maze's End is an incredibly frustrating deck to play against. You basically get to watch them slowly assemble their win condition. Turbo Fog but slower.

Hey Zman, I'm not quite understanding the new deck. You've explained how it's better against mono-red mirror, but what about the other match ups? It seems like it would be slower than BTE based decks. How does this deck want to beat them?

I'm seeing the following core sets of cards appearing in multiple lists: 4
Lightning Strike, 4
Magma Jet, and 2
Hammer of Purphoros as default spell configurations. Sideboards have 4
Mizzium Mortars and 2-4
Chandra, Pyromaster.
Without wanting to limit ourselves too much, can we reasonably say that these are the cards we want in Red
decks?

I understand all of the other cards, but could you expand on why the 4-of
Spark Jolt? I understand that it's a 1 CMC instant speed pinger with upside (scry 1), but is the format really slow enough or small enough to spend a card for 1 damage? If I expect lots of value x/1s (Pyromancer, Dryad Militant) or hexproof durdles,
Electrickery seems like a better card with more upside. It doesn't get your Phoenix back, though. Is that the draw of Spark Jolt?
I expect it's a meta call, but I'd like to hear the thought process behind it.

seems overprepared for the red mirror IMO. Spark Jolt AND SHock seems like the definition of "low impact" burn spells in other MUs?
Edit: I keep forgettign you play exclusively online, which probably makes this pretty fine
