1 Purphorous in devotion red, where everything is RR or more should be ok (I think).
So no one drops?
I feel like there should at lest 4 one drops.
I don't see a reason not to play 8. Improves the
control matchups, which are the deck's weak point.
Haven't been able to play it vs control yet so dunno.

I take full credit for the Elspeth in this list.
Then you better go read the thread, because you were absolutely not the first.
Is there a high-horse smilie?
EDIT: Well, you may not have access to it, didn't realize it was still in our brewery. But we've been on Elspeth for a while, so hush.
Does yarpus have access to it? or redthirst? Because I've been on Elsepth for a WHILE and they know how long. It's not a credit thing as much as it has been an argument between me and yarpus for some time.
"You think you can get away with playing 1 baddie? Fuck you, let's play 2 baddies."
Also, I think 1-2 Purphoros in Red Devotion Wins might be a real Magic: The Gathering card. Not 30$ good, but just... being good, doing some work.
You're on crack. The card does nothing and you're a terrible dumbfuck for even thinking of playing it.

Instant promotion to tier 50 for Haiiro, who has perfectly adjusted to the collective attitude of the FoS.

It doesn't matter if it's good, it matters when you Purge the Profane.

What actually got me into Elspeth train were:
- discussion with Sedai on Sally (he planted a seed of doubt "Can 6CMC planeswalker be playable?")
- feedback here in Fires forum (people were often winning games just because of how inevitable Elsy can be)
- watching SCG open (resolving Elspeth was probably the strongest play anyone could do during the tournament)
So, I think all of you guys are kind of involved in the process. Thanks for conviencing me that I really can't afford Kuroda Boros <highfiveifuckinghateyou>.
In terms of Purphoros discussion - read the whole thing. I meant singleton Purphoros in Red Devotion Wins, not building a deck around it. Still, read whole previous page - what happens after is just hilarious.
Now I understand what Kamahl meant when he said Purge the Profane shits on Aggro matchup.
It does... literally.

Don't ask me. Elspeth ain't something I'd play or likely worry too much about playing against so I don't bother to keep up.

Haiiro, I should also give you credit in terms of Boros Charm. I added it recently due to large presence of Control - still, I think you gave me that idea.

Is THAT what you call discussion? You being belligerent and dickish and me somewhat calmly correcting you.
EDIT: Damn right
you should.
Haiiro Sedai, here to shove more and more white mana symbols into your decks.
In two months I'm going to get yarpus to cast Heliod.

Not about Elspeth.
I am not sure if I said she's unplayable (I could - if so, then I apologize for that). It's just... I tend to approach planeswalkers very carefully, especially ones that cost 6 mana. Elspeth proved herself to be strong, I'm fine with her now. But I wasn't sure back then - and thanks to all the feedback I got on her, I could finally decide that she's worth it.
In terms of that careful approach, I was fucking with ya. I played Terribalt yo.
In two months I'm going to get yarpus to cast Heliod.
He's viable for Mono White Weenie as long as WW is viable. Unlike Zem, I actually consider this as a possibility.

And I liked it.
In sideboard of RDW. Nobody believed me on that, but he hosed UWx controls really hard. You could call him my pet card.

I would like to take a momment of silence, to remember our fallen comrade. I hardly knew "resect for yarpus" but it died so young...

Yarpus likes to build up a stockpile of cred and then squander it all in one post.
That's kind of his thing.

You have never tasted the tears of control player being butthurt after seeing T2 Tibalt.
They are so precious.
Well, I'm specialist at squeezing in bad cards into my decks. But hey, bad cards can be good. Do I need to remind you about
Pyreheart Wolf or
Tumble Magnet?

I have never experienced the tears.
I can imagine the laughter, though...

I have serious doubts about this deck and his reasoning behind it:
http://www.channelfireball.com/articles ... -devotion/
It looks like it's going to be doing a whole lot of nothing the first couple of turns.

by Haiiro Sedai
@yarpus: Shuffled your list up a bit, and I think you desperately want Hammer in the 75 somewhere. 26 is a lot of lands.
re tibalt: Seeing as I was on control the whole time tibalt was legal, you're right. Also, never shed a single tear myself over him. I probably just smashed him with a resto.
@wind: Not true. It's going to take at least 6-10 damage on turns 1 and 2 then play a 0/3 after it has two lands that don't come in untapped!

It does look like it can explode pretty hard though.

by Yarpus
I can imagine the laughter, though...
I will remind you that control decks are siding out Detention Sphere against Aggro and back in the days they packed 4 Terminus 4 Verdict against you. And they played nearly no creatures.
My opponent lost as even while he dealt with everything else that I was sending at him, repeated burns from Tibalt's -4 and later, threatening him with his ultimate made the game nightmare for him.
It's just like with Rakdos Cackler. Cackler is the scariest card for Control. Why? They have no way of dealing with him effectively other than killing him with other two guys.
Tibalt was the Rakdos Cackler of planeswalkers.
Posted: Thu Oct 03, 2013 4:16 pm
by redthirst
Maybe the tears were caused by the laughter?

Posted: Thu Oct 03, 2013 4:17 pm

Tibalt was truly he best-dressed planeswalker that never managed to go anywhere. I imagine that he finally caught up with Sorin and got smashed into paste.
Posted: Thu Oct 03, 2013 4:17 pm
by Haiiro Sedai
@redthirst: Probably so! Maybe that's how he won. His opponent got game losses for leaving his seat. I mean after you fall out of your chair and start rolling on the floor you only have 5 minutes to get back into the chair before the game is called. It's quite possible they couldn't recover in time.
Do you know what was a really fun planeswalker? Ajani Vengeant.

Speaking of terrible cards that nobody expects,
Reverberate is becoming quite the go-to card against UWR Control in my mono-red Modern deck. Reverberate your
Cryptic Command targeting your Cryptic Command, draw a card? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?
