It's a shame you can't play tempo with supreme verdict in the format. All my non-aggro or non-control builds fail that test. Lame.

Well, being uncounterable is its main catch. It still folds to Golgari Charm or Boros Charm. I used the latter and got a snarking remark of "Stupid mindless aggro" in response to a Supreme Verdict.

Now that you mention it, it's good that stuff like Terminus is out. I have more problem with this lucky card than most sweeper.

Yeah I'd want to see how big it regularly got. I'd be tempted to just add +2 Stormbreath, +2 counterspells.

I don't know if steam augury is any good, but I literally just want 4 mana draw 2 or 3 so it can't be that bad?

Anyone who have listened to Fair to Midland? I recently found out about them, but sadly they seem to have pretty much broken up. Anyway, their album "Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True" is one of the best albums I've heard in a long while (since Biffy Clyros "Opposites" in January to be exact).

Seriously considering 1-of barrage of expendables in the side of mono-red.

Playable vs. control, playable to VERY good in the mirror.

And value.

It allows you to swing into boros reckoner for fucks sake. Mega value. The opportunity cost is you're playing barrage of expendables in your deck, but you'll look like a genius if it actually works.

Can anyone send it to me as a stand alone PDF? I tried khaos Dropbox link and my comp crashed.
Ouch, sorry man. Jerry's right though - my e-mail wouldn't let me attach it for size reasons, so I had to upload it through Dropbox, which was an hour-long, pain-in-the-ass ordeal (Ordeal of Khaospawn???).

Anyways, I hope you were able to get it at home.

I'm psyched that we're coming into States, but quite honestly here in Kansas City it is overshadowed by this city's one true love: Barbeque!

Yes, it's American Royal time, and with it the World Series of Barbeque. Our local favorite Todd Johns of Plowboys BBQ fame finally opened his own restaurant in Blue Springs recently (AWESOME!) and he is of course cooking in competition this weekend.

In keeping with the KCBBQ tradition, I'm gonna throw on a butt roast to smoke this morning...pulled pork time, boys! I'll post up some pics...

It's decided: Pyrored at FNM tomorrow. And SB into Devotion Red. Because I really just want to play both. #baddecisions

Compress it using a .zip utility. Or upload it to Google Drive and share that, then we can download it ourselves or read it online.
Will do, brother. Khaos tried that with dropbox and it hosed zeman's attempt to DL, but I'll try this AM with Google. Stay tuned.

Adding this super gay filter is likely the best thing I have done with my admin privileges to date. Way better than the Standard forum overhaul.

Things I missed.

"Craig Wescoe" is a great pro.
Bullshit. He is The God of All Things White not a mere mortal.

Blah blah other pros... Why did you stop talking about wescoe?

Redbro love. Respect.

Izzet list: Steam Augury is good. It is not FoF in any form at all. Don't compare them they do different things and go in different decks. FoF made you want to play a bunch of 2 or 1 ofs because you could always dig for what you needed in any situation. SA is terrible in that deck because you willnnever get that niche answer. SA is ggreat in counter burn because of the redundancy. SA wants you to try crazy shit like 8 ofs (shock and magma jet/counterflux and dissipate) but is powerful raw card draw. SA is to think twice what Warleader helix is to lightning helix.

Further ramblings. SA is better suited in a tempo/aggressive shell because as you try to establish control certain cards values change.
Counters are better with a clear board, removal with an overcrowded one and etc. The aggressive tempo deck is always trying to maintain and push its own presence though. When you have your own creatures on board which cards you get are less important. More creatures mean more chances for valuable exchanges on board, counters stalltthe opposition and can make unfavorable exchanges like double blocking or double burning a fat creature less punishing because they stand in your opponents way of capitalizing on any gained tempo. And burn is always burn.

Shit and be damned...morning went all kinds of pear-shaped and now I don't have time to start my roast. It will have to wait for Sunday, blast it. Ah well.

On the bright side, steaks on the grill before the football game will be more than acceptable. Our local grocery chain does a HUGE meat sale the week of the Royal, so we got a whole beef loin (KC Strip or Porterhouse depending on where you are) cut for just under $4/pound. Also got a 12-pound pork loin in chops, so we're overall good for a while (my kids are total carnivores). Now if only these things would magically season, vacuum-seal and freeze themselves...
