I just picked up a fun rules snippet from an article...the damage generated by Burning Earth can be redirected to planeswalkers. So not only can you tie down UXx decks manawise, you can kill their Jace with their own spells. Too funny...
Yep, this is an RTFC situation.

Whenever a player taps a nonbasic land for mana, Burning Earth deals 1 damage to that player.

If it had been a source you don't control doing that damage, or had it been loss of life, or simply a trigger that stated no source, you wouldn't be able to redirect, but since Burning Earth is the source and you control said source, you can indeed
choose where the damage goes.

It could just be a Gruul or Simic build.

It could just be a Gruul or Simic build.
Could be, but then you'd probably have an ugly manabase. With a RUG manabase with 12 relevant shocks it's more doable. Still feels like a really overambitious deck.

Needing double-colored costs in 2 different colors by turn 3 is harder to execute in this format.

I thought you're wanting to cast Boon Satyr for its Bestow cost, that would shift the GG cost to turn 5+, which can be manageable.

I don't think that's a good plan, anyway - why don't you just play Aetherling?

Yeah of course, I somehow always forget about Bestow costing more. Still seems like a bad deck.

So I am 2-0 in a DE with that Izzet deck with Steam Augury and no sideboard. Steam Augury is pretty fucking good.

1-0 in a DE because YP$ says 1R: put a 2/1 and 6 1/1 tokens into play. Make target GW aggro player ragequit after he suicides his horde of idiots into your open mana repeatedly.

For the record, I believe there's a special place in hell for UW players.
I hope you mean constructed UW players, I keep ending up in UW in draft because that's what keeps being open (because no respects it, and I keep winning with it). That and I was a dedicated MUC player until they failed to reprint counterspell in 8th, and my rage led me to the mountains.

I feel like being able to play an oldschool draw-go MUC should be something you can do, even if it's not your style.
You learn a lot playing that way

-play mistakes are punished brutally and swiftly, and in a way
you can obviously see.
-threat evaluation is mandatory, and enforced by above.
-card advantage theory is drilled home as clearly as possible.
-your understanding of the stack and stack tricks will become instinctual (though I still have to remind myself that priority no longer passes with "damage on the stack").
-finally as sun tzu said "know thy enemy as thou knows thyself.
Yes, constructed.

I've played various Ux draw-go decks before, the latest being UB control pre-rotation specifically because I wanted to punish UWr.

How weird is it that my favourite deck is Mono Red and my second favourite deck is UB Control? Im deranged!

This signature may not be as cool as my last one, but it probably fits better. I would like to think that every time my posts are read, they are read to this anthem.

Not that I'm doing that at the moment. But if you want to...

My deck is so cheap:

[deck]
Creatures 28
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Rakdos Shred-Freak
4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Fanatic of Mogis

Burn 10
2 Shock
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike

Land 22
22 Mountain

Sideboard
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Skullcrack
4 Frostburn Weird
2 Hammer of Purphoros
2 Act of Treason
2 Flames of the Firebrand
[/deck]

Like, does this deck even exceed $60?
Well, for fresh newcomers, I think it will exceed that cost since Ashley and friends cost 2 tix each. There's also with Mortars reaching 3 tix as we speak. Of course, I'm still willing to give a playset of Skullcrack (Or maybe Young Pyromancers
too) to newcomers in modo.

What R(x) deck has a decent midrange match-up. I attended a 71-person MNM last night at the LGS hosting states and they had a 34-52-14 distribution of aggro-midrange-control. I drew poorly all three rounds that I played (good ol' R1 bye), and so got crushed by GW, narrowly lost in the white mirror, and narrowly beat Junk midrange. What to do? Have all of the cards for (F)AIR, PyroRed, Devotion Red, and BAI. Four dragons/demons short of RX control, but can likely get them. How do I hedge for this midrange circle jerk?

Always face up unless otherwise noted.

Nath'd by Narcasus and Alex.

Yes, exiled cards are, by default, kept face up and can be examined by any player at any time. (Rule 406.3)

I believe that face up is the default method of exile unless it specifies face down (Hideaway).

Since nobody else has answered your question, exiled cards are always face up unless other wise specified.

So I got this random image text from a number I didn't recognize on my phone. It was a 704 number, so local to me in Charlotte. Keep in mind this was the first text from the number.

Image

At first I thought it might be some kind of random porn chain textbot thing, but turns out it's a real chick, AND she's into MTG. I am...really intrigued. At first I was like "Well this is the wrong number sorry," but she went on to be like "Oh well that's okay, how are you?"

Chandra's exile is face up. An opponent actually noted how I topped 4 lands with her.

So I was wondering. With Hammer of Purphoros, think it's possible to make Firemane Avenger work? The girl just needs an excuse for us to maindeck Fervor, and I've been liking my hammering time these days (Ham will understand).

Sure that isn't someone who is maybe a friend of a friend or knows you from the area or something?

Because randomly getting a picture message from a cute girl who is also into M:tG and is also interested in talking to the guy she accidentally texted does not sound like real life. It sounds like a RivalTuna story.

That's another concern. I can just imagine next weekend Alex will be like: "Well, I'm off to go meet the cute girl that texted me. Don't wait up. :unibrow: "

Then we never hear from him again.

Either that or she has a dick.

Apparently she plays at the store I go to, but I don't
recognize her. Maybe a casual I played EDH with or something who got my number from Ali. Otherwise I have NO fucking clue who she is.
