I just might have to create a gimmick to interact with the MTGS mods who venture out here. It seems the very presence of a post of mine apparently threatens to taint and corrupt their souls

"Friendly Non-Threatening DTR Liaison"

"Timmy, The DTR Tour Guide"

the gimmick options are endless....

you could even post like a tour guide.

"So here we see the Blathering thread, one of the more social parts of DTR. Here users come to spam, feud or generally enjoy themselves. Shitposting, as usual, is strongly discouraged."

Anyway, story time!

I was in a magic store this afternoon and I was asking the guy who runs the store if he had some mailing list for the local events because I figured the DTR account could subscribe to them and we could populate the frontpage calendar with this info. So there were some other guys there and we started talking about DTR, the guy told me he knew the site fairly well as a lurker and that we had some good semi-pro posters around, and mentioned James Fazzolari for his analysis on standard and Alex on his cubetutor posts and drafts, so I told him lol, there is an ongoing feud between these two. Once again he lamented that Checkbox (who apparently is a well-known Cube reference) doesn't post anymore in his favorite subforum. Then he lamented that we don't talk enough about Modern, which according to his friends is the only section of MTGS who isn't complete shit these days. Then the discussion went on about
how morally corrupt MTGS had turned, he said that he and most of the people he knows had stopped logging on at MTGS because of the awful forum software, which among other things made the site unbearable to browse on mobiles.

So basically this confirms what pretty much everyone is saying about MTGS. I initially though we were being biased about the site (since most of us are here because we were lynched from the site at the request of Curse), but it seems we are not too far from the actual facts.

Another comforting thing is hearing about DTR from some random unknown. We might just have much more lurkers than we think.

Now we've just got to get a random to join thanks to our thriving mafia community...

I guess we should consider being more aggressive about producing more content, specially in other areas that are behind our standard, EDH, and cube sections.

Yeah, its really a shame because you are barely breaking even in Mafia, sometimes it gets difficult to get a replacement.

I haven't joined a game in ages because I found out last time I played that I just cannot keep up with an ongoing game due to lack of available time (since there is always a thing or two to fix on the site anyway).

Blackhound, have you posted in his helpdesk yet?

AND TAKEN SOME DECENT-LOOKING SCRUMPCAPS BEFORE GETTING YOUR POST DELETED?

First I need a video camera.

we've known for two years now that the best way to grow the site is to get decent posters posting in the 'game' areas of the forum.

"Breaking even" would at least be able to fill a 12-man. We can't even do that anymore!

Kaze, Fate, Nuwen, Manders, InflatablePie, freedom, DocLawless, WitchHunt, TubeHunter... Mafia players die so young. :tears:

We could certainly use more players posting on Modern. Almost all the activity is me in my BBBSG thread and the FoS crew in RDW/Burn/Delver.

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your casual masses yearning to play for free;
The wretched refuse of your FNM,
Send these, the Timmies,
Tempest-tossed to me
I lift my lamp beside the kitchen table!

There's a feud between James and I? He and I have always been like this ever since we first started interacting. There's nothing wrong with telling your friend you think they're wrong. I guess I could see how it might be misconstrued though, we're both very stubborn.

Speaking of which:
I was wondering, since Zem hangs around here once in a while, how relevant would be to have some FoS guy make a written interview of him on the forums? Like we could set a thread for the interview, with Q&A, and then collate it and make a frontpage article. Possibly something about the upcoming standard.

Opinions, FoS people & others?
It should totally be you interviewing him :teach:

There's actually a video somewhere on James' Twitch channel where we chatted for like two hours about card theory. We disagreed a lot. :(

feuds between battled hardened warriors don't produce ragequits so they're generally ok to have constantly.

Fuck my mice. I give them food and they throw it out their cage all night long. Fucking chill Scrambles! I had to remove my air conditioner because it was a fire hazard, so now its a muggy, mouse feed smelling dorm.
