I am +$190 so far, so going well. I want to face as many red mirrors as possible, it is literally my best matchup. I just wreck-face in red mirrors. I think last season on stream I went 18-3 or something silly.
Devo red or real Pyrored vs Pyrored mirror?

(btw 1900+ rank DE have been weird tonight, fought through two Big Boros, one Dega Midrange and one MonoBlack (which is fun) - it was freaken HARD)
Any mono red mirror ever basically.

I feel the same way, Z. Any time I get the pair up against mono red I salivate, even though I'm not nearly as highly ranked as you are (yet).

Alex - stop before it's too late. I haven't played in almost two years. It was a great game but DAMN what a time sink. Plus the game was ruined by Cataclysm.

Interesting, I havn't seen any Pyrored list online but the traditional Devotion Red list is favorable.

Really though I can't see why you'll ever really want to face a true mirror unless your many time better then your Opp. (even then they can luck you out).

I'm + $70ish, but I spend it on random things & entry fees.

Not sure if you're aware, but James is better than basically every red deck opponent:P

I always feel this way playing red, especially locally in paper Magic because so few people that play red actually understand the mirror match.

My top list of FoS members I'd love to play IRL:

1) Z

2) LP

3) redthirst (but only in EDH. With beer.)

4) Fate (because I think he'll wear Gruul warpaint)

To negotiate on articles. $10/ video which means every event is a free-roll.
Negotiate that you require my voice on the stream constantly. It'll help the viewership immensely. I don't even require payment, just a deck to play.

I know a lot of female players. I usually see them at game days and pre-releases. Exactly zero of them go to FNMs.

That should be telling of the kinds of people who do go to FNMs around here.

EDIT: I thought about it, and "a lot" equals 6. Which isn't actually a lot.

My wife, her sister, and her best friend all play Magic, and I see quite a few women at the local stores. Surprisingly, not all of them are jailbait.

Edit: My wife jokingly refers to Jerry as my boyfriend since we talk on the phone a lot. :D

I know about 3 or 4 female players, though my girlfriend is one, which makes the strip magic a bit more appealing/likely.

Honestly, i've got a really hot female friend who is single, plays magic, and watches anime. She came to fnm and prereleases with me multiple times, and never actually got hit on.
Which was funny cause she actually was looking for a boyfriend, lol.

One of my female friends plays, and she's got some good skills at sealed, but her lack of interest in doing research and testing hurt her ability to do well in constructed and to a lesser extent draft. There are also 2 female players that are regulars as the lgs i've been patronizing lately, but they're playing esper and I am playing a fast devo red so I'm running them over faster than they can stabilize so I am not seeing a lot of their play skill (turns out that when you are playing a deck that hates out removal piles, you tend to do well versus removal piles).

Reading a Reid Duke article on SCG Premium. Gonna quote a bit from him, but it paraphrases to be pretty much the message that Z, LP, and others here have pushed for a while: play what you know.
This is the deck that I played this weekend at the StarCityGames.com Legacy Open in Indianapolis. I constructed the deck by following the advice I've offered above to a tee: I focused on myself and not my opponents. I built the deck with the cards that I wanted to play with, cards that contributed best to my own strategy. I came out with a finished product that had a few weaknesses, but it also maintained a powerful, consistent, and efficient game-plan that would reliably lead to a win if I was allowed to play my game.

You'll notice that the maindeck has very few cards dedicated to beating combo, despite Sneak and Show, Elves, Reanimator, and Storm being among the most-played decks in Legacy.

Once I decided
to play Bant, I faced the decision of whether to restructure the deck to fit in Force of Will and an adequate number of blue cards or whether to accept an unfavorable Game One against combo. I decided to maintain the powerful G/W creature base of the deck, and to accept an unfavorable Game One matchup against combo.

I tend to object to the expression “concede the matchup,” or “concede Game One,” because it can be misleading for players who don't have extensive tournament experience. What I've learned after playing thousands of matches in hundreds of tournaments is that there's no such thing as a 100%-0% matchup, no matter how things might look on paper. In Magic, people mulligan from time to time, they miss land drops, their decks don't always cooperate. This is especially true when it comes to combo decks. So I didn't “concede Game One” against combo, but what I did do was leave my tournament in the hands of my sideboard, my pairings, and the luck of the draw in my bad matchups.
