Stardust is always on the case.

redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Great guy to have around? Hell yes.
I love the D...

Went 0-3 in three different 8-mans tonight. Really feels bad. My opponents had all the answers and I dc'd one time to come back without being able to sideboard. Funny enough I got two of my dead cards in that matchup for the second game. Definitely feels like someone was out to get me tonight.

Actually 19, assuming you are counting things that can fetch shocks. Allied fetches, enemy fetches, shard fetches, terramorphic expanse, evolving wilds, ghost quarter, and flagstones of trokair. Bonus points if you break the flagstones with [card:That would be nice for Modern, 16 lands that could tutor for a Mountain. VVVVAALLLUUUUEEEEEEFYI, I've heard threw a contact that Onslaught fetches are gonna be reprinted when shocks rotate...
2hpmz3yu]hammer of purphoros[/card].

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.
You're like the least gay member of this clan.
And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

koth of the hammerDarth:
One day I'll manage to kill an opponent entirely with Mountains or things that came out of Mountains.
hammer of purphoros
valakut, the molten pinnacle
gruul guildmage
shard volley
fireblast
That's nearly a deck there, and none of those cards are bad. Obviously we are talking about casual, but it seems fun. Cast new horizons, and then start throwing those lands at people.

You could also use things that make lands into creatures. I believe zendikar had some of that, no?koth of the hammerDarth:

I believe you are thinking of crusher zendikon, and kamigawa offers the similar genju of the spires. awaken the ancient is probably the best card in the vein, not counting koth. You could also use things that make lands into creatures. I believe zendikar had some of that, no?

I would loev to look at that, along with many other things in the restricted forums...I made a thread about that deck in the restricted areas. It's called MOUNTAIN and I've been crushing filthy casuals with it for weeks.
However....

If we really wanna maximize the usage here, it might be good to include a bit of land fetch/ramp... (What little of it there is to be had in red...)I believe you are thinking of crusher zendikon, and kamigawa offers the similar genju of the spires. awaken the ancient is probably the best card in the vein, not counting koth. You could also use things that make lands into creatures. Something like fiery fall might be usable, since fetching mountains would help, and we're likely to have a lot of land/mana floating around if we HAVE to cast it as a lava axe...

Most up-to-date MOUNTAIN list.Updated list:
[deck]
17 Snow-Covered Mountain
4 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Skred
2 Devastating Summons
4 Genju of the Spires
2 Blood Moon
2 Crucible of Worlds
3 Hammer of Purphoros
2 Seismic Assault
3 Awaken the Ancient
4 Koth of the Hammer
2 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Wooded Foothills
SB: 4 Slagstorm
SB: 4 Shattering Spree
SB: 2 Blood Moon
SB: 3 Pillage
SB: 2 Boom // Bust
[/deck]
I really wanted to keep the deck all mountains and Valakuts, but the fetchlands are really good with Crucible and Top. I hate seeing 3 cards I don't want with Top and not being able to do anything about it.
Sideboard decisions:
I really wanted to play land destruction. In the casual rooms, a lot of people use ramp decks
and play land enchantments. These cards both provide a healthy dose of "fuck you"
A lot of the ramp decks are all-in elf decks as well, so Slagstorm does a nice job of sending my best wishes if Pillage didn't get the point across.
Blood Moon because Blood Moon.
Shattering Spree because many consider Affinity (not Brobots, the kind from Mirrodin before the deck got neutered) to be "casual."

Here's the deck that placed first yesterday at SCGLA if anyone cares:
[deck]
Creatures
2 Azorius Arrester
4 Boros Elite
4 Daring Skyjek
4 Dryad Militant
4 Frontline Medic
4 Precinct Captain
4 Soldier of the Pantheon
Planeswalkers
3 Ajani, Caller of the Pride
Lands
10 Plains
4 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
Spells
4 Boros Charm
4 Brave the Elements
1 Spear of Heliod
Sideboard
3 Banisher Priest
4 Fiendslayer Paladin
2 Burning Earth
1 Pacifism
1 Warleader's Helix
1 Wear // Tear
2 Glare of Heresy
1 Mizzium Mortars
[/deck]
In case you weren't aware by now, Scrylands are the real deal.
Looking at this list...I'm perplexed as to how it won. It looks shaky at best, and not a damn creature actually impacts the boardstate when in enters aside from it's presence. Apparently Anthems and protective spells really are enough to clock your opponent.

The deck worked because it swarms and can protect said swarm. They don't have haste, but they build up and then start screwing with your ability to block or get them off the table. Their creature density pretty much laughs at 1:1 removal, and if a sweeper bounces off Charm, that's likely lights out. The meta reaction will likely be a resurgence of mid-control to eat up their initial onslaught then win with CA. My guess, anyway...

Basically...it worked in the Open meta for the decks they hit. I remember Val running up against a similar list on stream...they nut draw, they roll over you, but that can be said of any reasonable aggro deck. I'd like to see his MU list for the day...reports and bits of games that I saw made it clear that even at the top tables through round 6 or 7 there was some really shoddy play.Latest SCG FNM list eh?
OTOH, WW has been making showings on MODO for the past few days as well, though they seem way too linear to keep it up. They are getting their 5 minutes and making Wescoe a smiley boy.

This open was about as competitive as a GP. My 5th round, I had Huey Jenson to my left, Kibler down the table, and a buddy of mine was playing Josh Utter Layton in a fake feature match. As for the winner, Ben Lundquist has been playing magic at the competitive level for at least a dec(k)ade. I remember playing his Simic tron list in old extended. I wish they reprinted moments peace of all things into the modern card pool.Latest SCG FNM list eh?
As for naysers on the deck, when Yarpus asked me about it, I tested some, and playing 12 one drops, 8 of them two power, along with protection spells is incredibly punishing and brave the elements tends to get you even if you play around it(which you can't always do). I lost to one of the players in the
top 16 playing a similar deck(though Ben is cool, while my opponent was an assehole) because double boros charm is 4 mana for 8 damage.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.
