Anyone have a MoW.Deck on MODO and has some time to spare? I want to try a different approach in my sideboarding plan against them.

I actually agree with you.
I'd usually consider it fine, but since I promised to not do so, I guess I'll pass.

Talked about that. Still, she's so timid and worried about the whole situation that I can't really expect solutions from her.

Aaand, that's my kitteh.

Let me get this straight: your girlfriend has security issues AND she's spent the last two years standing by your side in such a critical situation AND you're considering cheating her?
Never considered cheating on her. It's just... some automatic instincts are working. And I'm getting popular amongst the chicks in new places. And I don't really want to torment her with that.
And I agreed to a really cute chick to sleep in the same room as me as she has no place to stay in my city.
That's a non-issue to me.
If you're not going to cheat on her that's fine with me - yet, I feel like you should put a little more thought in what you're doing.
I don't think your girlfriend can be happy of this "yeah sure,
come sleep in my room" thing, and while she has no right whatsoever to stop you from doing so, you should be a little bit more consideration into what you're doing.

Now, I don't think your GF will EVER restrain you from doing anything like having guests or hanging out with other girls, but you should at least talk with her and keep her confidence up - otherwise she'll NEVER have good reasons for trusting you.
Don't throw away a good relationship just because you're too lazy to be honest.
I seriously feel like that you're a good guy but just a little bit confused, but if you actually put some effort in keeping things straight everything should work fine without you feeling deprived of your freedom.

Made some trades last night at FNM, not sure how well I made out. Anyone mind helping me with a Pick-A-Pile?

Trade 1:

Pile A:
1x Whip of Erebos
2x Thoughtseize
1x Mutavault (foil)

Pile B:
1x Mutavault
2x Scavenging Ooze (M14)
2x Abrupt Decay
1x Young Pyromancer (foil)
1x Prophet of Kruphix

Trade 2:

Pile A:
Bant Commander deck (opened, lightly played)
Commander deck box
1x Scavenging Ooze (DotP promo foil)

Pile B:
1x Chandra, Pyromaster
1x Lifebane Zombie
4x Xathrid Necromancer
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know if you're being lied to?

The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work... use more gun.

Time and time again I forget the potency of mead. I got yelled at by the store owner at FNM because I was, in true Viking fashion, slamming my empty bottles on the ground and bellowing , "MORE! " Then I drunkenly pissed on a BMW. Of course, all of this was after I went 3-2 at FNM (After losing to my bro, I punted a game to mono Green. But I ripped into a Mazes End deck to make myself feel better.)

I should really stop doing things like this. I don't know how many more times I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not a real Viking.

hmmmm my gut says trade 1 wasn't i n your favor. I mean I guess Young pyromancer is stupid expensive, but I wouldn't have traded for one. Yeah foil muta is at like $40. So you definitely got screwed there (assuming DotP scooze is still
around 11 like it damn well should be, if its higher then meh, not by much)

I mean its probably around equal I just would've valued a foil muta for something shinier than a foil YP, playable wise, like a couple planeswalkers or something.

Trade 2: was great because you got a pile of standard goodstuff and chandra instead of lolcommander.

I just assumed he traded for Chandra's rather than getting rid of her with the second trade

I'm very old school in my thinking. If you're in a relationship, you're in a relationship and you should be loyal to your spouse. Unless of course, you're both swingers, than swing away.
I think it depends on how serious you consider said relationship to be. I didn't cheat on my wife, (because why would I?) but I can certainly understand why people do it and I don't villainize them for being human in nature. Your first impulse is "Fuck all of the things!" and instinct can sometimes just flat-out be more powerful than what you think is your set of morals. Plus, there's plenty of circumstances I could see people cheating in. I have a friend who is basically with his girlfriend because he can't afford to live on his own, and he
basically resents her, but he's trapped. He told me he cheated on her a few times, but they aren't really "in love" anymore, so I get it.

I just don't get why it is a point of morals for someone who isn't involved. Like, it's one of the few topics where people who have nothing to do with it get heated and judge people SO harshly for it. (See: Kaze.) Seriously, if it isn't directly impacting your life, you should probably not get so upset about it. You can dislike it as a rule for a relationship you're in if that's something you feel passionately about, but if you're calling someone else scum over something that has zero impact on your life, you should probably reevaluate your own moral code, because I'm sure that needlessly being shitty to other people shouldn't be a part of that code, too.

Then again, I don't understand morals on a fundamental level, I just try and treat people the way I expect to be treated and that's how I live my life, emotions don't really get in the
way of that. Maybe it's just the 'sperg talking.

Well, popular opinion says I made bad trades last night. I'll explain.

First trade was Pile B. I dumped my foil Vault, the two Thoughtseize and a Whip.

- The foil 'vault has been sitting in my binder for quite some time and no one's been interested in it. While it's the most valuable card there on its own (TCG mid being 34, low being ~30), and since it's a good Legacy card (hence why the foil has stayed at this price while regular Mutavaults have creeped up), I'm kinda trading down here.

- Thoughtseize is going to drop. True, it hit $70 at one point and people were still willing to pay $40-$50 the week before Theros came out, but there is so much Theros being opened it's not even funny. It's the most opened set in Magic history, beating out RtR from last year (can find source if someone wants it), and will be drafted all the way until M15 (three packs every draft until Feb, two after that until ~May?, then one
pack after that). Meaning there's a shitton of supply here. I can see Thoughtseize dropping to ~$10-12, where I'll gladly pick them back up again and probably hold them.

- Whip is an intro pack rare, which caps its price. It won't go above $5-ish.

My side of the trade was valued at ~$74 (34 + 18+18 + 4). Now for the other side.

- Regular Mutavault is around $20. I still want my set of Mutavaults, I just don't care for foils usually. I actually wanted two of his, but he wanted to keep a playset in some form, so I picked up another Decay and the Pyro instead. I think the trade would have been better had I dropped the Pyro+Decay and gotten the Vault instead, but hey, whatevs. $20 for Mutavault is kinda high right now anyway, I wouldn't have traded if I didn't want access to a third for Standard in case I switch to mono-red.

- Abrupt Decay is a legacy/modern staple and has maintained a steady ~7ish since rotation. It'll only be going up from here barring a reprint (hopefully it avoids being in
the Duel Decks), and I've now completed my playset.

- Scavenging Ooze was a $40 card once. It's now sitting around 12 with the DotP version about a buck behind. It's been seeing fringe play in Standard, but decent play in Modern. Plus, M14 was not opened all that much due to the 'low value' of the set (big money cards being Mutavault/Ooze with Chandra/Garruk close behind and the hyped Hydra & Thune being decent value) and due to being a core set. Despite being reprinted, though, the fact that it was reprinted in a core set and not a fall set that'll be drafted into the spring, means I think it will hold value a lot better than Thoughtseize.

- Prophet was a throw-in to even up the ~$4 since he wanted the whip last minute. I probably overvalued this for the moment, but since I wanted one for EDH and this is a card I can see going up a few years down the line (along with everything else I got here), I didn't mind losing $2 for right now.

- Foil Young Pyro. I didn't see anything else in his
binder in the ~$12 range I really wanted. I coulda gotten another Ooze to complete my set but wasn't in a rush to acquire those. I figured I'd diversify my valuable cards so I grabbed this. It's only expensive because, again, Legacy/Modern.

so tl;dr, lost $2 on the trade purely value-wise, but traded down a valuable foil and a dropping multi-format card for some other legacy/modern stuff and an EDH rare.

Second trade... I got the Commander deck. He used his phone for this trade since mine was dying so I went on his values for the cards and they sounded right.

- Chandra is dropping. He priced them at $25, which sounded right, and looking on tcgplayer right now I can pick them up for a few bucks under $20. Since this is the first time people have actually used a Chandra card in a while, I can see Wizards reprinting her. She doesn't see much Eternal play (I think Reid Duke used her as a one-of in Modern Jund but meh) and is purely a Standard card. If she doesn't get reprinted, she'll drop pretty
bad.

- He priced the Zombie at 10. tcgplayer low says $7-$8. Another pure Standard card. So far we're at about $25 value total? Necromancers are $2.50 each, so $35. Already we're a few bucks over the $30 MSRP for Commander plus tax. So I basically got a free deck box and Scavenging Ooze. Also, Necromancer will be doing nothing post-rotation except maybe existing in casual decks.

- I checked the cards for the deck since it was opened, and they look very close to mint. Everything there, even the big foil cards. He said he'd just gotten back into Magic, sleeved the deck up, then unsleeved it and wasn't planning on playing EDH again. I was looking at picking up a Commander deck anyway, so this saves me money since cash is tight this month. And I got a free Ooze. Again, didn't see anything great in his binder and he priced the promo Ooze at $10 so now I have a playset of Ooze (2:2 - M14:DotP)

If you guys still disagree with my choices for the first trade, I understand. I didn't feel amazing about
the trade either but I'd still make it given a second chance because I know my cards will hold higher value over time, except maybe the foil Mutavault. And it's worthless having a $30+ foil I'm not ever playing in my binder, especially if no one seems to be interested in it. Kind of like how no one has been interested in the Liliana of the Veil I'm probably never playing because it's worth $40+.

If you guys still disagree with the second trade, oh c'mon. I love Chandra too but I basically got a free Ooze here.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know if you're being lied to?

The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work... use more gun.

I was assuming that it was just a regular foil scavenging ooze in which case pile B is greater value.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Yarpus: Compliments are a good way to boost self-confidence :) My ex had major self-esteem issues, and by the time we broke up they were mostly a non-issue because I had (while still being honest, which I know is very important to you) told her she looked nice when she looked nice, that she did a good job when she did a good job, that she was sweet when she was sweet, etc. It's amazing how much hearing those little things can do for a person. Just focus on the positive and not the negative.

Pie: My only issue with that is that Chandra actually is seeing eternal play. But you being happy with the trades is important, and you got cards you're going to use, plus some that are going to go up. So it sounds like a success Plus....you can trade me that foil YP$ ;-)

Plus, there's plenty
of circumstances I could see people cheating in. I have a friend who is basically with his girlfriend because he can't afford to live on his own, and he basically resents her, but he's trapped.

Then again, I don't understand
morals on a fundamental level, I just try and treat people the way I expect to be treated and that's how I live my life, emotions don't really get in the way of that. Maybe it's just the 'sperg talking.
I've not vilified anyone for such things. I even put in my opinion with an all-things-considered view on the morals in question. I just think screwing over other humans is a bad deal and just because it's "human nature" and life is a bitch doesn't mean you have to act that way.

Pie: My only issue with that is that Chandra actually is seeing eternal play. But you being happy with the trades is important, and you got cards you're going to use, plus some that are going to go up. So it sounds like a success  Plus....you can trade me that foil YP$ ;-)
I don't follow Modern/Legacy really, anywhere I can find some lists? I only remember Reid Duke running her as a one or two of in Modern Jund(?) the weekend she shot up to $30+. Either way, she's dropping slowly so I can pick her back up later if I need her. And I may
be interested in parting with my Young Pyro...

The only part I don't like about that one trade is trading for Mutavaults at $20. Especially when the foil prices hold so you know it's only Standard inflation... but at least I'll get use out of it.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know if you're being lied to?

The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work... use more gun.

She's in Painted Stone in Legacy; I don't know how much play she is actually seeing in Modern Jund, don't follow the format.

Reminds me a lot of how my brother treats all issues. If it does not directly involve
or affect him he disregards the issue. Problem is with that the issues at times can effect you or your environment.

I'm in the same camp as Suga and Kaze and view cheating as a bad thing to do in a relationship. For me there is no level of acceptence for when it is okay regarding the level of seriousness the relationship is in. Cheating tends to be a selfish act. Understand though my opinion stems from my own experience of my father cheating on my mother numerous times growing up.

If you are unhappy or just questioning things in your relationship it is better to discuss with your partner and either try to solve the issue or get out of your relationship. Better to be known as the ex who was unhappy instead of the asshole who cheated.

Also as human beings we have self control over these urges. As males nature wants us to spread the seed and fuck all the things but as we evolved we became social creatures which brought culture, morals etc.

All in all it is your relationship Yarpus and your
fellow redbros can only give you advice but ultimately you have to decide what will make you happy. Obviously you can see many of us have varying opinions on cheating and relationships which I hope does not make it harder for you to decide but instead helps you understand the impact of actions that have been taken or could be taken.

I'm glad to say that I've never cheated on anybody I've been in a relationship with. Been tempted, yes. Could've done it numerous times. I'd like to say that honor and integrity kept me from doing it, but honestly, it's because I hate the whole "living a lie " thing.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.
