Mafia is frustrating, though. I get annoyed when people don't take it seriously. And most people at some point start to experience fatigue, and then they stop posting. And scum hunting gets too hard. And the tunneling. The confirmation bias. I want to like Mafia, but I feel such love and hate for it.
Your choice, friend.

RE: Mafia
That's because it's a game all about love and hate, man. Crafting and then constantly gauging a shifting meta-state usually incorporates a heavy emotional investment as well as a cerebral one. If you really want to play, just play as clean as you can and run with it.

I just went and asked the lady. She's convinced the peas absorb the sugar. ^_^

I think it is statistically impossible for me to top 8, I am currently in 16th place out of 944 people, and the round 11 win would somehow have to propel me 8 spots.

Its more I cant tolerate people who think Trying to do mind games > deck building. That and coming to an event in a hood and sunglasses means you are an elite player. That and my patience is just thin and rather spend my time doing other things. I love building decks, talking ideas with people, and helping friends but I cant be arsed to drop down a shit ton on getting a deck made and sit there for 8+ hours when that time is 19+ dollars an hour at my job.

Today on Corruption Watch...

It has just come to my attention that ER's MTGS sig includes the following:
إن سرقت إسرق جمل
WTF is that??? A secret code, perhaps? A language other than English? In either case, both are offenses for which he himself has recently infracted others. :-?

So I know I'm late to the party and all, but I just saw that article about the dude getting banned from SCG events for ripping up tokens in Todd Anderson's face...

Let me just go on record here as an employee of Starcitygames.com and say this: Todd Anderson is a gigantic tool, and I can't fault the guy at the event for wanting to metaphorically spit in Todd's face. They should be glad that he didn't, because the few times I've interacted with him in person, I've had to fight the urge. Beyond being a gigantic manchild, he's put his wife Kali through so much shit by being both emotionally and verbally abusive to her on NUMEROUS occasions, IN PUBLIC no less, yet he'll cry bloody murder any time anybody hurts his wittle feelings.

Fuck that guy. I saw so much sympathy being thrown his way and I'll never understand it. The guy's a legitimate piece of shit.

Wasn't he the guy who wrote the article about berating his wife until she finally gave in and told him he could play magic for a living?

He only wrote that article because there was talks of people seeing him straight up screaming at her at a booth at an SCG invitational.

No seriously, we should not feel bad for this guy. I honestly don't know why Starcity champions someone like him, when there are so many other great players out there who aren't morally devoid pieces of white trash.

1. Quits job in a rage when he's told he's been taking too much time off.
"You're taking too many weekends off. I can't give you off next weekend or Labor Day weekend after that. The restaurant is really busy during Labor Day and you've already taken too much time off recently."

My tongue turned to silly putty in my mouth. My shoes filled with lead and I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. "I have to be off on Labor Day. I can't miss this tournament. Isn't there anything you can do?"

His reply was a slow shake of his head and a muttered "Sorry." I felt like yelling. I felt like telling him to go screw himself. I felt like dying. Instead I just turned around clocked out and went home.

I didn't go back.

2. Becomes emo when he discovers that the occasional 5K win can't cover the bills.

[
quote]
Windfalls are always nice — but they don't last and you can't live forever on a single big payday. I was beginning to understand her frustration but that didn't make it any less hard to bear the punishment I'd been given. Loneliness wasn't supplanted by any of my vices and they only seemed to make things worse. Magic Online became more of a chore than an escape with matches seemingly to drag on forever. Why should I even bother? Even A Dance with Dragons the book I'd been so involved in felt tiresome. Was this the life I would be choosing without her?

What was the point of living if I was going to be alone? [/quote]

3. He even cleaned the toilet.
She wouldn't touch me. She could barely even look at me.

Are you just waking up now? Why haven't you gone to look for a new job today?

Her words stung hard but I had no real response. The previous night had been full of tossing and turning in a cold bed.

I couldn't sleep
last night. I haven't been able to sleep much since you've been gone. I'm sorry. But I cleaned up the house. I did the dishes and the laundry. I even cleaned the toilet.

4. Neglects wife to focus solely on hobby; wonders why relationship had problems.

When we got home I immediately hopped onto the computer and started building and testing Modern decks. Kali feigned interest but I know she gets really bored watching me play.

She put on her best frowny face and begged for attention. I smiled at her rubbed her arm and went back to what I was doing before.
5. Eventually his wife is so broken down by his antics that she gives in to his childish pouting.
She caught her sobs in her throat and continued her soliloquy. You deserve to be happy... I've always had a job and I've always worked hard at what I love doing. You've been doing the same thing but I've only now realized
that I've never given you a chance live your life how you've wanted to and I'm not going to hold you back anymore. I love you.
