So you're not against them verbatim, you're against the way in which people typically use them? Interesting.

No. People can have their own avatars. It's not my place to question it. Just saying that I don't like them. (Except Kaitscralt's. That chick is hot.)

I could. But it would make every post take up more vertical space. Just like a signature would. Think I'll pass.

I've often been tempted to go to bouncebreak and get me one of those bouncy avvys, but I stop myself because I lack Scralty's ability to stop blathering so I imagine it would end as a horrible trainwreck; I'd probably just start posting non-stop drivel in order to get as many little bouncy animations in as possible.

Bet on suspension. Sene suspended me for reporting one of Koopa's post, even though I was well within the rules to do so, and called it "abuse of the report system."

if there's one thing you can count on while carting down the fedora mines of mtgs, it's a good-humored rape joke.

Other than providing a very small handful of concerned people some gratification for carding it (and garnering the attention of a few with a more disingenuous level of concern), infracting the post in question solves little in the bigger picture.
GUYS, HE'S TALKING ABOUT US!
[
quote1=Xenphire;10621371]Whereas a few individuals could argue that it is slippery slope to something or other, I say look at the other side of the coin. If you want moderators to be more strict, then we can start cracking down on fringe cases like this, which means for consistency's sake we have to start doing that for everything and inevitably be called tyrants. On the other hand, by letting this slide, some people will say the forums are sliding into uncivilized, mind-numbing chaos with dribble not fit for consumption. You can't have your cake and eat it, too, so I say make a choice.[/quote1]
I think the issue here is that they
have been more than happy to crack down on "fringe cases like this" in the past - usually when gutterites were involved. Assuming they don't want to give up persecuting the Gutter, this new lenient method of moderation will represent the latest in a long line of double-standards.
ok, on the real
with no snark this time:
there's a very exclusionist, going-the-extra-mile attitude people and staff at MTGS take to make sure everyone "feels included" and "no one's feelings are hurt" and "it doesn't matter what kind of label you want to slap on yourself no one is allowed to call it into question" aka group hugs/handholding, where someone abruptly using a different font color and completely changing style of posting to validate a new identity is defended in the most strict and stern ways possible. but someone posts an issue that is a real problem for real people in reality and not only tangentially in a virtual sense and it's treated like something that you step in walking down the sidewalk when it's raised as the issue it is.
that's incredibly fucked up beyond reason and says a lot about the people defending that policy on their site.

i was pretty ok with being socially neutral and eye rolly about every time mtgs' name crops up, but once you start defending rape culture, i'm done with you.

by Thrillho
Wow, really? I wake up to this steaming pile?
Okay, the rape debate ends thusly:
Unless you've been raped, you cannot comprehend how bad it is to read the word. So Xenphire/Chaotix's choice is thus: infract; or get raped.
Queen to A1. Checkmate.
dude that's like the ultimate fallacy in combatting rape culture by telling people to get raped and don't fall into that just because xenphire is an inexcusable pile of garbage of a human being.

But at this point can we really be shocked by the bold-faced hypocrisy coming from that site? Any concern raised by "disgruntled gutterites / gutter sympathizers" is going to be labelled disingenuous no matter how valid the issue is.
