Even after all this time, I'm still amazed that ER finds it easier to throw the 10,000 page rulebook at someone and wield the Implements of Banning/Suspending/Masking/Infracting, rather than just addressing the issue and saying, "Yeah, you're right, I can see how my having a non-English sig looks bad when we infract people for posting non-English comments - I'll just modify my sig."

hell, I used to put that I was a lawnmower on my resume. Maybe he just doesn't have anything more meaningful. You know that you have to put something on there.

I mean, he does such a such a stellar job at managing an internet site for magical cards and address user complaints, requests, and concerns. I'd put it on my resumé too if I did such a bang up job too!

I used to also have it listed in my linkedin that I had been the overseer of one of the more prestiged sections of the site (in addition to having been WCT mod), but it was all for naught as I had to delete it from my resumé after Sene banned me for malicious attacks on websites. Now I just have a boring resumé

Anyway, coming back to that rape helpdesk drama, I'm going to play the Devil's advocate (lol lapdog-style) and actually state that Xenphire handled the situation right.

I know he is the stereotype "raging faggot" and otherwise a very unpleasant person to interact with, but we have been arguing against the heavy-handed and discretionary application of the rules, and for once, there is a staff member who correctly identifies that the thread is in bad taste, but otherwise not singling out anyone in particular. One may complain about the staff singling out people they don't like, as well as being heavy-handed in some particular situations, but you still need to praise good behavior.

Let me put it in another way: What good would have been achieved by carding the guy in addition to locking the thread with red text stating that rape jokes are not acceptable? Shouldn't people have the benefit of the doubt?

The guy is going nowhere and is likely to be a mod for a while. Shouldn't people encourage him to improve his game as a moderator by praising his good calls rather than hounding him at every corner?
