I think the pedagogical attitude is to just lock the thread and put some re text with the likes of "rape is not funny, k? or something" and maybe sending a PM to the guy explaining why it is in bad taste, please don't do it again, rape is a serious enough issue yhat we should avoid crude jokes bout it, but maybe you lost sense of this after hearing one too many "raped by deck X" small talk at your favorite neckbeard LGS, etc...

People claiming for blood and asking that the guy is carded post-facto is just something I cannot see the use for.

Disclaimer: Just because Xenphire had the correct course of action taken this time, it doesn't mean he doesn't suck big times as a mod, so that's global or admin material right there.

What I'm finding interesting about the comparison is that the two issues are not so divergent as a casual observer might think. Hell, you can't go on an LGBTQQIA website (outside of pancake sites like Playground) without hitting an "I was raped" thread, and the sense that makes is not something most people consider. It does make sense, though, when you're in a sexual/gender minority the gravity of rape takes on a much more serious tone, and the care and concern others in that community show for victims of the act is a staggeringly beautific thing I think everyone should witness.
So when Xenphire, who claims to be gay himself, is trying to shrug off that level of commitment to others, it grinds in just how delusional the man is... he apparently has spent absolutely no time contemplating the subject or the feelings of others, has never been on a website other than MTGS, and is, to put it bluntly, being a fag.

Don't get me wrong, he handled the discussion in his helpdesk very poorly, not taking the criticism in a constructive fashion and blaming the drama on some hate crew (with some "because Gutter" undertones), then doing the typical Talore defense when he just couldn't handle it anymore (take it to the admins, I'm done here). The undertones of his defense did give the wrong impression that "[i:
2vt8igp5]this was no big deal and people are picking on this just to attack me[/i]"

Instead, he could have just said: "I locked the thread and posted that it was in poor taste and hence not acceptable for this site. Please tell me what good infracting the people post-facto would achieve?", and probably there wouldn't have been half the drama.

There probably never should have been open drama in the first place. Apparently Chaotix is a victim of the sin of sloth, as well... oh, wait, I already knew that.

except that is not what mtgs does with every single other of its rules so why is rape the case where they should reverse their entire history of handling things that are harmful to others?

Playing the other side - Then where do they? That attitude states they now shouldn't and just get worse.

Yeah but no-one was condoning rape jokes since the thread was locked. How can you jump to the conclusion that Xenphire was condoning rape jokes when he actually put an end to it?

Ofc you do have a point when arguing about double standards in that people making jokes about transatlantism get carded while the guy making jokes about prison rape did not, but the correct approach IMO is that neither should have been carded instead of arguing that rape jokes should be infracted post-facto because some lightly hearted parody posts were infracted in the past.

This is further disregarding that you were actually carded because you are aq gutter member, but that is yet another issue, which is the staff targeting specific users as a way to cope with their own insecurity
issues.
great but we live in a world where mtgs does card you for making jokes about pronouns and does not for good humor bad taste rape jokes.
if we're talking about an ideal magical christmas land, everyone should just be posting here in the first place.

Yeah but then there's blowback from that behind the iron curtain. I can actually empathize with that part, would you rather talk it over with a bunch of users and make the same repetitive arguments or with a ragtag group of insular mods who spend all their time honing their skill at summitting every new drama bomb?

this is not the correct course of action, or alternately, every single other action against users for offenses less offensive than making jokes about rape on mtgs is the incorrect action (which is essentially a good majority of all infractions levied on the site since inception)

you're operating under our rules -- we don't infract things at all -- when you're forgetting that their rules are that even in secret your mean words need to be punished or wiped out

in this case i am the one playing devil's advocate because i'm operating under a world where you cast smite every time you try to block an attack by mean words.
