How can I change my name into DtR hunter? I'm running 4x
Blind Obedience in my 75 (I have a certain number main because I'm crazy like that

)
But honestly though hitting 1-2 with 12 white sources isn't bad at all, works quite well at wearing down the control players as well.

And why did everyone drop peak eruption so quickly? Was it just too narrow?
I appologize for my absence. I should be over the hump and back to contributing / being involved with the website now.

It hits Monsters, Burn and hexproof - I wouldn't say its narrow its just the window of worth is too small for my liking (it doesn't help that some people are running 24 lands or more non-mountain sources).

Beat G0D_Lik3 again I think I'm 3-0 against him now, looks like he was back on Bx Devotion - we had a Pack Rats vs YP$ war on our decider game.
I'll try for another DE 2morrow hopefully it won't crash
p.s. Happy Birthday Z

Wow, this looks fun. I've been struggling making a burn/aggro deck work. (It doesn't help that I'm a marginal player.) Although, I'm finding I'm getting better at controlling the game. Maybe I'll sleeve this up and give it a go (with your update SB).

No Mizzium Mortars? I myself, would be leery of not having them in. Can you shed some light on why you decided to exclude them? When MM would be needed, what is replacing it? I have always found them useful, especially for FBW, Blood Baron and Brimaz. It relays less on SFD to deal with those problems or if you don't find a Chained.

pv wrote this in an article. "A Burn deck will often have the choice to burn creatures or a player, but the choice of burning the player is usually going to be correct and, if it’s not, it’s not incredibly hard to figure out." Anyone else find this funny?

Looks solid vs everything except burn, burn is currently ranked 3rd in finishes but its def. 2nd place in terms of most played decks on modo so I don't think having 0 answers for burn is where you want to be right now...

With the channelfireball list there were not many straight answers to burn either and i had went 3-0 against the mirror before i went to my local 1k. So far my win % against the mirror is pretty good. I think we can just outplay our opponents without having dedicated spots for it. But maybe my opponents were less skilled than I.

How about when your rating is high so your pairing in PE's and DE's are against opp. with close level of skills?
In those games the player with the better tools will win.

I'm obviously running Satyr Firedancer in those slots;
they replace Toil // Trouble against creature decks but you still need to be racing with this version, it's not grindy at all, so your burn would've been going upstairs anyway.

I don't think you need Rest in Peace to beat Dredge, I'm sure I've never lost a match. They mostly beat themselves anyway.
Also, this >:)
I've had some trouble when they slap a nighthowler on a nemesis. They get so big so fast, and I only have so many chained.
in my experience your yp tokens deal with fatties well enough that you just burn them out and you can also slap assemble into play. cttr and yp put you in the position to kill them without them being able to hit you for loads of damage. I also try to keep as many cttr as possible for lotleth/
demon so they cant nighthowler you out of a game.

Anyway, starting in June I will be able to get in 1 DE every day. So I can finally start to focus on becoming a decent player instead of a net-decking n00b.

@ Zem (& anyone else with an opinion)
I'm not just asking when you bring Wear // Tear in, but when are you super excited to be bringing it in? To me, it seems to be a card that is fine/ok in a lot of matchups (good sideboard card), but never a trump (a la Assemble). I get nervy bringing it in, because what if it was a Boros Charm and I'd just win on the spot?

I usually won't bring it in unless I HAVE to.

Just from experience, it'll have a REALLY good MBC and Esper matchup; GR and Mono U are good if you can draw a creature with which to apply pressure, otherwise probably a bit bad, but at least you're entirely uninteractive; the mirror will be rough on the draw though.
I'm actually a bit surprised that -4 YP, +4 Toil is better vs MBC. You've actually tested this?
Posted: Thu Apr 03, 2014 4:45 pm

It's very similar to how I used to be post sideboard against MBC, observant readers will know.

MBC usually brings in or at least swaps removal around in the matchup, Toil goes a long way as they are land don't cast spells till turn three (not including pack rack or thoughtseize). Having Toil game one goes a long way I can imagine. I've liked the increase to 3 chains main though, though it seemed to work in the AZ versions with only 2...

In a de I played today I had 2 cttr and double searing blood and i have 4 mana to play assemble and he also has whip. To keep him from dealing me some damage before I can draw a land I decided to double blood the merchant and i have a cttr left if he discards me. Now that I think of it if he had discard he would have gotten my assemble now wouldnt he. Makes my whole line of play crap. So I should have chained merchant, played searing blood on his next two creatures and leave my last chained for a demon. Does anyone know how to keep yourself calm so you can make more rational choices? The reason I made that play was because I started to think too quickly and I really need to learn to slow my thought process down. Also chandra is awsome if your opponent plays double downfall to kill phoenix and yp and then plays no other spells until I ultimate chandra for 12.

Yea, I have no trouble when I can get a hold of YP$ and start making it rain elemental tokens. I just had an extra slot in my sb and figured I'd try it out since I've been seeing it more online. It's definitely good, but probably not worth the sb slot until it gets more popular.

Lots of practice. There's really no easy way other than being able to reference your past play experience in similar situations.
That said, there is zero reason for you to rush any of your plays with the deck. I can't think of any match that I've played that has gone more than 30 minutes. However, we're all guilty of these mistakes all the time. They happen. Just work on making them happen less and not tilting when you do make one.

Hello everyone!
I've been on the Rakdos Aggro plan for over a month now and I was thinking about switching decks until JOU comes out and all our work begins again. I'm going to a TCG player 5K this weekend in Orlando, but I'm used to creature beatdown decks and not strait burn builds. I'm going to take Z's Dega Burn deck to FNM and the 5K.
[deck]
Creatures
4 Chandra's Phoenix
Enchantments
2 Chained to the Rocks
Instants
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Toil // Trouble
4 Warleader's Helix
Lands
4 Blood Crypt
1 Boros Guildgate
5 Mountain
4 Mutavault
1 Temple of Malice
1 Temple of Silence
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
Sideboard
2 Assemble
2 Chandra, Pyromaster
2 Chained to the Rocks
4 Firedrinker
Satyr
4 Satyr Firedancer
1 Wear // Tear
[/deck]
As a experiment, I want to try and come up with different sideboard strategies and I welcome criticism from you expert burn players.
Esper and UW/x Control:
-2 Chains, -3 Shock, -3 Seering Blood
+4 Firedrinker Satyr, +2 Chandra, +2 Assemble
(I'm also considering +1 Assemble +1 Wear/Tear instead of 2 Assembles.)
Mono Black Devotion:
-3 Shock, -1 Seering Blood
+2 Chains, +2 Assemble
(Could also add +2 Chandra if you cut all 3 Seering Blood. Shock might be better then Seering blood, due to it's inability to go upstairs on demand.)
B/W Midrange:
-4 Toil//Trouble, -3 Shock, -3 Seering Blood
+2 Assemble, +2 Chandra, +2 Chains, +4 Satyr Firedancer
(This is one that is very confusing because Firedancer is one of your only ways to kill BBoV, but then your boarding out Seering Blood too, which you'd expect would be fantastic in that match.)
Mono Blue Devotion and U/w Devotion:
-4 Toil//Trouble, -2 Skullcrack (Maybe -2 Boros Charm instead
of -2 Skullcrack, but 4 damage burn seems too good to ever cut. I was also considering Shock being on the chopping block, but I think you need it to hit 1 drops.)
+4 Satyr Firedancer, +2 Chains
Esper Midrange (Aggro deck with Lyev Skynight and Obzedat)
-4 Toil//Trouble, -4 Skullcrack (-4 Boros Charm could also be an alternative to Skullcrack.)
+4 Satyr Firedancer +2 Chandra, +2 Chains
G/R Monsters:
-4 Toil//Trouble -4 Skullcrack
+4 Satyr Firedancer, +2 Chains, +2 Assemble
Burn Mirror:
-2 Chains, -2 Shock
+2 Chandra, +2 Asemble
What do ya'll think?
My plan didn't make much use of wear/tear. Why is it in the board?
Should Firedrinker Satyr come in against Mono Black Devotion and B/w Midrange. Being able to attack into a Nightveil Specter is nice.

Also I had a second thought. I think most people including myself when theorizing on sideboard options and possible lines of play based on game states we imagine either great or above average draws from our opponents. This is a game of numbers and percentages. Its our fear of loosing that drives alot of decisions so we should instead think of what our opponents average draw will be. Not sure that helps or all of you understand that fact really well but if it does awsome. Of course if im wrong id like to hear about it.

10 white sources and 19 red sources. Is that going to be enough? I think we might be sacrificing too much consistency. Thoughts?

Prep is all about planning for what you can expect. You can't expect consistent above average draws, playing 6 hexproof players in a row, etc. But you can plan for what you will most likely see, and be ready for the majority of the encounters you will experience.
