Personally I considered picking up a column at a site that shall remain nameless (I may still do it), and writing mostly caj and pauper, with occasional forays into "real formats" and story, but I realized I'd just be a poorman's abe sergeant (and his columns aren't even behind the paywall to begin with), and given that I actually don't play that much casual anymore I would have a hard time keeping up the material. I am not skilled enough or insightful enough to say anything relevant in standard or draft that 1000 other people haven't already said, even in a narrow specialty, which would make me the NY Post of mtg writers. So I just don't write (for now), but unfortunately a lot of people who have neither the voice not insight for the job are doing it anyway. Besides, in my last 8 events I went exactly 2-1, respectable, but not enough so that it makes what I have to say worth the time.

On the brightside cfb, scg, and the mothership do tend to have really good writing staff, but the rest of the sites are a crapshoot.

Like, we do red deck theory and a bit of other stuff REALLY fucking well, but we're so limited that I wouldn't call DTR a good forum either. If we could find some more similarly passionate users to help populate the subforums, then I feel that we would be in a position to say that we're a "good forum"
Well, we'd do more, but there's no incentive to do so.

If we wanted quantity we could easily appeal to more of the MTGS crowd, but we care about quality and that takes manpower, which isn't free. It's a double edged sword.

Of course the only M:tG writer I read with any regularity is Maro, so I might not be the best judge on the topic.

I'm guessing it was for mafia so that he wouldn't have to link to a page of a certain user's posts every time somebody asked.

Maybe I should explain. When the laundry is done in my house, we end up with an entire basket of socks. Apparently, I'm the only one that is willing to take the time to match up said socks. And I fucking hate matching socks.
BTW - Hentai........

My wife has very large feet for a woman. Size 12.5 to be exact (10.5-11 male equivalent). She's been looking around for socks to wear at work but couldn't find any her size in any of the women's sections she went to, so she eventually broke down and visited the men's section and was pleased to find an assortment of colorfully-designed men's socks to wear. She showed them to me when she got home and said "Thank God for gay men." I chuckled.

There used to be a woman who worked in HR here, and her feet were so big she could only find shoes in her size on transvestite websites.

Back to the articles thing - why do you want to bother writing articles that most people won't read and for areas that are outside this clan's expertise? It's a lot easier to get people to watch a video than to read a 1,000 word article. There's nothing wrong with making a site that's devoted to R/xyz aggro. Go deep with it. Make videos that explain and show how to play against the big decks of the moment. Make videos that explain the nuances of certain cards in different situations. Hell, commentated video series like MDU's are amazing. I've learned so much about how to scry properly from just watching him play as he explains his choices.
I would rather become a destination for the 20% of magic's competitive player base that isn't obsessed with overpriced control and midrange decks than trying to have a little something for everyone that doesn't get anyone excited.

I have no idea why most straight men can't seem to dress themselves, and even those that can do a passable job still fail to have fun with it.
