Oh crap. Insight Communications apparently has been bought out by Time Warner, that's going to make getting to the bottom of this much stickier.
This means they must be destroyed.

After having spent the last few days dealing with the bullshit dance of just trying to get ahold of a fucking general question email address from them, all I can say is /barn this so hard like I'm /barning at a /barndance with /barns and more /barns on the /barnfarm. Holy fuck sakes!

Them: Time Warner Communications, how may I direct your call?
Me: Hello, my name is Dan, I'm trying to get your
company's general email so I can email you some questions?
Them: What do you mean?
Me: I just would feel more comfortable asking my questions over email.
Them: What is the nature of the questions?

In his defense, it wasn't like he tried really hard. I actually had to delve pretty deep into the archives to find that nosploit. Union selects are garbage against internet forum software, any skiddy can tell you that, and like I keep saying Debian has some of the cleanest tiers I've seen so there was like a negative percentage chance that it would work. Plus let's not forget that proxying an IP is like the simplest thing ever. Not that I'm not saying I don't believe it, just laying out the counterargument.

Yes, you raise very good points, and I actually have though about that as well.

I could see two hypothesis. The first one being that he assumed that he wouldn't need to conceal his identity because he though no one would
eventually notice. This seems unlikely to me since things always get known in the end.

The second hypothesis would be that he just didn't give much thought to this hacking attempt and just did it casually, without bothering to hide anything else. I'd give more credence to this hypothesis, since the general tone of MTGS mod lounge has always been extremely hostile to this site and its members (and the continued persecution still ongoing one year after is more indirect evidence of that).

I mean, when you have senior members of the staff just encouraging malicious attacks against this website*

This sets up a mindset where you constantly disparage and belittle people you don't like (Calling them scumbags and terrorists), stripping them of their humanity and therefore psychologically justifying any kind of action since they are not dealing with real people anymore, but something less than that (there are many real-life examples for such behaviors, but lets not delve on this topic least we get a tad more hyperbolic than simple internet forums hacking).

And in short, I think Feyd just fell prey to this general feeling. Actually he might even be more of a victim that a perpetrator. As in a victim of a awful mindset.
