I recently downloaded all of Parks and Recreation and then waited until my paycheck to go buy the physical DVDs.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.

Torrents are readily available for season 1 at the least; just google "game of thrones torrent" or search Pirate Bay. I am a definite proponent of "try before you buy" relative to such things...I respect intellectual property, but I don't feel that one should have to commit to a signifcant purchase without finding out whether it holds any interest. Network TV is a completely different animal, however...it is freely available, so I have no qualms about downloading a season to watch on my schedule. I also generally avoid getting invested in shows anymore before seeing if they will pan out--one can only take so many Firefly-
esque soul-crushes in a lifetime.

Having read all the books and not watched a single episode of the series, reading convos here about game of thrones here is a surreal experience. Firstly, you see people going "omg i can't wait to see what happened!" to stuff that happened halfway through the plot and is insignificant compared to the major shit looming ahead and you don't understand what these people are excited about. Secondly, they talk about characters through the names of their actors/actresses and you have no idea who they are referring to.

He later explained that he had to do the best he could to protect "his" people.

So I told him to get the fuck out. He's a regular Benedict Arnold. Pretending to be our friend only to sell us out. There's a word for that. It's called a NARC. And narcs aren't welcome in the FoS.

I did some searching, and nope, there is no way to delete your account there. Seems to be too troublesome to purge a user's posts and threads or something.

Agreed, the dude is a piece of shit. I knew I wasn't going to like him very much when he was begging me for content in PMs and trying to drag me to his empty forum, but I have to say that I didn't foresee the recent events. I was
baiting the suspension to prove to you guys that iridium is stalking us here, so I'm glad that now we know who the source of the tattling bullshit was. He didn't realize it, but he ran into it hook, line, and sinker.

I get that he may have disagreed with the R/x stuff, but the appropriate way to handle it was to discuss it with us (if he was to be a friend) rather than try to get people banned (weird reaction to boot).

There were a few times he made himself nearly unwelcome on the MTGS clan thread; this seals it in my mind. He always seemed self-aggrandizing anyway. And not in a funny-ha-ha "I'm awesome" way, but rather a slightly creepy and worrisome manner. We've given him the benefit of the doubt for some time;
it is clear that he cares very little for our community.

I'm still confused, not that it matters. Wasn't R_A all hot & bothered to get us over here? Why the hell was he piddling around over on Sally in the first place and playing tattle-ass? Admittedly I don't read MTGS unless I'm unbanned and trolling, but I sometimes consider making an alt and just PMing some of the people I remember being awesome contributors from Modern/Limited forums. Maybe I'll just wait until whenever this suspension is over and see if I can't persuade some of 'em to have a look.

soup of screen names gets confusing at times, but wasn't rujasu at one point clan on Sally and then posted that it was "not for him" after the whole mods v. clan debacle started up? Or am I remembering the wrong guy?

I too hope that Dromar is not flaking out over there...I've had some very decent evidence-based theory talks with him in the past and generally respect his MtG acumen.

Thanks, James; I thought that was him but there are many similar names and I didn't want to speak out of turn. In response to your query then, redthirst, rujasu has some competitive chops from what I remember. He contributed positively to a number of discussions over in the Rx forum, and his leaving the clan I think had to do with his interest in focusing on the game and not so much on our clan antics. I certainly can't fault the guy for being focused on the game, and his retraction from the clan was done quite respectfully.
